I've alaways been a supporter of Pharmacare (also covering perscription eyeglasses and hearing aids). I don't see much sense in having a doctor diagnose an illness and write out a prescription only to have it ignored because the patient cannot afford to have it filled or to have people cut their pills in half to make them last longer. (I've seen both happen - I also know a retired man who took on a trucking job just to pay for his needed medication which costs about $20,000 quarterly.)

Of course it would mean higher taxes (or a different distribution of taxes), but it would pay for itself in having a healthier population. And the details of what was covered and how it was administered would have to be worked out.

O' the complexity of it all as designated to allow the administrators to become wealthy by the Duffus Roue ... kind 've like the Murphy Law ... and a wichii 'dnest!

Employers are currently covering pharmacare in drug plans which are included in benefits
In addition, for those who are self-employed, they may be paying through own benefits.
For those who are reduced income, they may have government paying them.

Of course, there will be some who do not have coverage

With taxpayer "all" would be covered.
The net increase / expense to the country is not pharmacare for everyone, but it is a shift from the employer to the country's people dependent on funding.

I support it, as I would want controls on meds. Note: it will also result in arguments between people and government about "what isn't covered", whereas now it is between people and insurance company

With the snow there are apparently lots of cars in the ditch today on the highway. Hoping the roads won't be too bad when we go tomorrow.

My plans shifted again as of today at 5pm. I'm now at home and have time on my hands, so hope to knock off some volunteer activities and wrap up Dad's apartment rental / transition)

Have you been watching the Blue Jays in Texas? Someone kept checking her cell phone at square dance last evening and kept us up on what was happening as the Jays scored 10 times before the Texas team managed to get one in the final inning.
A different game today - I watched the first half at the bowling ally. Some of us had to be called away from the little TV in the corner when it was our turn to bowl. Then the rush home to see the last few innings as the Jays almost lost a 5-1 lead, when Texas scored two more runs, and then kept threatening with a man in scoring position and batters lined up for hoping to hit a run to get a tie, or to hit the winning run. Fortunate it was not to be. I guess all the people wearing their lucky jerseys, and shouting instructions through the TVs at the players and managers managed to pull the Jays through.
I hope that the pitcher who got hit on the head by a line drive is going to be ok.

That Tuesday game was a nail-biter - but I had trouble staying awake through the extra innings! Listened to part of the game on radio on way home from cottage today ... so I can imagine all you at the bowling alley huddled around the TV Seeler! We were cheering in the car!

We had a great week away - rented a charming little cottage near Bala Ontario - about two hours north of Toronto, on Lake Muskoka. Leaves are changing colours now and the lake is much quieter in this season. Weather improved day by day, and the last few were spectacular! Gorgeous sunsets, starry nights, campfire outdoors, good food & wine ... aahhh. And no internet!! We did some great short hikes in the area, saw deer and wild turkeys, but fortunately no bears.

Cottage had a hot tub too ... nice for relaxing after a hike! And actually, it was very handy because the hot water konked out about 24 hours after we arrived - seemed that the breaker for the tank needed replacing, but cottage owners were out of the country - so we managed by heating water in the kettle & on the stove - and using the hot tub! Made for a bit more of an adventure :-)

When I first read that, I was picturing you heating water for the hot tub (ok, I am a bit slow sometimes). That would have been a lot of hot water. I was impressed.

Cooking turkey for just our 4 tomorrow. It will be yummy, though.
I am starting to plan a big early Christmas dinner here. 17 adults, 4 children, 3 babies. Will be wonderful! I am ensuring that I am off the week before, even if I have a contract. I love cooking. I love wonderful spreads.

Heading down to St. Joe's to close up the cottage. We really didn't spend as much time there as we wanted to. Not sure why life is so busy, but I guess that is just another thing for which to be thankful.

it still sounds to me like they were using the hot tub - with cold water??

Sorry bout that - I didn't write very clearly. It was the hot water inside the cottage that konked out; the hot tub was still nice & hot - as pinga mentioned, it has its own separate heater. So were using the kitchen kettle just to heat water for dishes, washing at the sink, washing hair etc. A daily splash in the hot tub replaced the usual hot shower!

Not really. Showers are much better than tubs. A shower is truly cleansing. In a tub you're just sitting around in your own sweat and dirt.

Enjoy your visit to the island Nancy. We are having lovely sunshine here today, but it's less than 10 degrees - so quite a change from last week. I'm just finishing up lunch & heading outside - some stuff to do in the storage area of the garage, and some work in the yard ... nicer to do some in sunshine than when I need to wear my long-johns and winter hat!!

How about those Jays last night Seeler??

Woke up to over a foot of snow this morning. It feels more like American Thanksgiving - end of November, opening act to Christmas, etc.

The slightest bit of frost this morning ... from a maritime-Eire that doesn't get a lot this is ... a blessing that we can do without for a bit.

The rain yesterday helped a bit tho' ...

Should we be thankful for all things ... everything in the case of god when appearing to cool everything off as heated by the desires of man's kind ... which isn't that gentile! Thus god is divined in divers proportions ... some ups some downs!

Many can't see this ...

Luce is right - we hads a touch of frost in places before the rain (more mist and drizzle - not the rain they've had in Nova Scotia). This after two days with temps in the mid 20s.

But pictures from other parts of Canada have me thinking about snowtires.

And those Jays! Too bad boston lost in three games - I was hoping that they would win in five - and then meet the Jays. Those games in the west keep us up half the night.
