Room For All

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

A community where we discuss, share, and have some fun together. Join today and become a part of it!

Do such things come around in evolution or evolvement? Whirly ...

Thus the spin of astonishment over stellar ... its astounding what we don't know!

May generate a large dark void of formless nature ... the shadow's essence? Folk just do not know about such things ... it is an experience to encounter ... black-out, or black-in 'd? Terminal or just end? Colorless nub ...

Good Wednesday morning! Houses that need some renovation, those going though medical issues, other things that come to light, they all join us as we gather round the Coffee Cart for today's conversation, connection, and support. We do this over coffee and tea (We still have PLENTY of pumpkin spice creamer; PLEASE use it up! Pretty please?) as well as the Wonderbakery's marvelous creations. Today they have made a big platter of cherries jubilee to enjoy. The tea water is boiling, the coffee is freshbrewed, and the cherries jubilee is delightfully chilled. All is ready, all are welcome. come in and join the festivities!

I connected with a garden consultant who focusses on native plants. She is working on a friend's garden and i liked the approach.

They did a walk through a few weeks ago and yesterday came back to take on the periwinkle. It has been planted in various areas here and it is so invasive, smothering other plants.

They did my rock garden area yesterday. Bunch of new to me plants, i clouding partridge berry. Nice usage of natural scraping (branches with moss)

New area planted in a swale area, replacing crown vetch that had naturalized. All native plants that should be able to cover area once gets settled in.

They'll be coming back to take out another periwinkle covered hill. This one will require cardboard and mulch to hold it.

She brought plants as part of the service and took some from here, including an oak tree that had been growing in the rock garden. I like her approach.

It's so crazy that places still sell periwinkle

We've barely touched our landscaping in recent years. It's pretty stable, mostly trees, bushes, and perennials so no real need to save the odd time something suffers storm damage or similar.

Getting the car back after lunch so we'll be back to two. We've managed with one but Mrs. M still has enough going on even retired that we really do need two for the foreseeable future. We only managed with one during COVID because of me being fulltime remote work. Now that I'm in office at least 3 days a week and my office is on the other side of the city ... yeah, two cars. We'll be replacing hers in a couple years and might look at electrics or a plug-in hybrid then.

Hey, can someone plug the coffee in tomorrow morning? I may not be able to do it tomorrow.

Death to periwinkle. Also Virginia Creeper, nettles, Cascade hops, English ivy, and an unknown vine. Our gardening help 'found' a path of concrete stones that had sunk a solid inch underneath the soil. I'd forgotten it existed...

In time everything must go ... it is a rule pertaining to everything that is God ... so is was ... past hence?

What's beyond that? We don't know yet as we're having trouble getting through presence ... one particular presence!

Does humanity hate itself ... the way it behaves when winning? Disgusting as fallout ... for the birds of from them?

Who raises more crap than greatest powers?

Thus some of us back off and do write ... after that it is debated history ...

It is immortal to agree about anything other than disagreement so we agree to do that ... what a fuss!

The fuss was once over nothing and the portal thereof ...

RedBaron is away today, so I’ve gone ahead and opened the room.
Please, come on in and make yourselves comfortable.

The coffee is brewing ☕
There’s tea and warm apple cider too — perfect for a crisp autumn day.

The pillows have been freshly fluffed and plumped —
choose whichever cozy corner calls your name.
From the window, you can just see the lake
from the deck, you can enjoy the soft autumn breeze.

Help yourself to the snack table:
Pumpkin muffins
✨ Cinnamon-dusted cookies
Fresh pears, perfectly ripe

This is a place to breathe, talk, or simply be

Settle in, I'm glad that you're here.

Hope @Redbaron is okay. Thanks Jayne for filling in. I’ve become a baseball fan of late. Remembering back to how my Grandma would listen to the Bluejay games on the radio and cheer against my Dad’s favourite team, the Detroit Tigers. I’ve always loved watching movies about sports heroes and sporting events. This World Series feels like a movie!

So I remember moving from Kitchener to London to attend Western at the end of the eighties and seeing Tigers logos everywhere. It's like there was a line somewhere between Kitchener and London where the Jays ended and the Tigers began. Nowadays, I find that line seems to have shifted. London seems to be Jays' country now but I hear Windsor was, at least until this series, still heavily Tigers country. I am following things through feeds and stuff. Don't have the patience to watch baseball or American football. Too much time spent standing around and hearing inane chatter. At least with hockey, soccer/football, tennis, etc. there's more constant, consistent motion and action (still too much inane chatter, though).

There is something quaint about baseball commentating done right. Tom Cheek and Jerry Howarth were the voices of my youth. Your parents can have baseball on in the background while theyre watching you and your friends playing in the yard, for example. They were just always there. And the anecdotes can be fascinating.

Buck Martinez is that guy now, on the Sportsnet broadcasts. The radio guys just aren't what Tom and Jerry were to me.

I never played baseball growing up. I played a little soccer. But I always liked the sport, and though there is a lot of standing and waiting, I have to admit there is a certain something about it.

Plus all the stats appeals to my autistic side.

Yeah, those are the guys I remember, too. More storytelling, less babbling on and on about obscure statistics. Didn't realize Buck was still around. A quick Google says he's 76. Wow.

My dad was a maritime baseball hero ... I did not take part in sports due to a health deficiency ... said to be something missing in my heart. Dad said there was a rumor that his side of the family had no heart ...

Should Chat Grp be asked about such nonsense?

Does the heart lose sense due to passions? A play could be written about this fecundity! Full-bore crap????

How have you not seen Buck?
Don't have Sportsnet, don't watch much baseball. This playoff run has been the first time I've paid any attention to major league ball in a very long time. Probably since their last World Series (the year I got married, as I told my wife to help her put things in perspective when she asked why the Jays were all over the news).

I think I used to think like you @Mendalla regarding the seeming lack of action. It has changed as I watch this series. There is a lot of thinking and strategizing. The commentators are really good and acknowledge there are a lot of new fans that might need a few things explained. I especially like it when they name or even anticipate the pitches.

Not sure where I would watch. I cut the cord and don't even have any streaming services right now. I'd have to find a stream somewhere. Maybe I'll check for tomorrow's game.
