I took dog to the vet today. She was concerned that the skin between the two puncture wounds on the shoulder is dying. There's a pocket under that spot. The vet who saw her on Saturday was also concerned about that. So, she's going in on Friday to get it surgically debrief and new skin put on it. I'm not sure how that works exactly. It does mean more recovery time, and likely a better outcome. To say I'm pissed at the couple that own "Hammer" is a bit of an understatement. Vet bills will be reaching $2000 soon.

On a more positive note, there was a ginormous mastiff/Pyrenees cross dog at the vet. He was just inside the door so I was a bit concerned. Dog was a bit concerned too. The big dog was very friendly and the owner let him and Baela sniff noses etc. Big dog wanted to play, and Baela would have played with him under different circumstances. It was good to see she was only wary, not reactive which is good. That's probably a testament to her being well socialized.

My son has a huge German Shepherd. He sure looks scary especially when he smiles. It looks like he is baring his teeth but he is honestly grinning. Cracks me up every time.
A friend took his German Shepherd to the local Long Term Care Centre yesterday. The dog had been a Working Dog with both Wildlife Officers and the RCMP and is considered retired. The residents really enjoyed the attention he gave them as much as the dog enjoyed the pats and strokes!

A few years back, when walking my son's dog, he was attacked by a golden lab surprisingly, three weeks later, it all came to $5000...fortunately the other dogs owners felt very bad and paid all of the vet fees.

Keep good records. Contact a lawyer.

We did get the couple's names and we have a photo of their licence plate with enough of the motorhome to know what model it is. We don't know if animal control will give us feedback or not. We will call to ask about it in a day or three.

Critters often do. One of my fav pics of me is of a tiny me (probably 4) snuggled right up to some sort of large bull terrier sorta critter, easily twice my size. I find humans quite incomprehensible, often.

Good morning! Drives to see birds and flowers, medical appointments and moves to another site, more observations about dogs, and all the other things that come to the surface, come with us to the Coffee Cart. Here we discuss, support, and strengthen community, over coffee and tea. Today we have biscuits and honey, jam, and other assorted toppings. The biscuits are fresh from the bakery, coffee freshbrewed, and the tea water at the boil. Come in and join the conversations, over a mug or a cup! All is ready, Everybody is welcome.

Good morning. I just looked to see if I'd given the update about the vet yesterday and see that autocorrect changed a word so now it doesn't make sense. Dog is going going to get skin debrided, not debriefed. Sheesh.

Spellcheck strikes again…

Yeah, they've been having a rough ride so getting the drought situation under better control can only make that better. Fire season is still to come, though.

Wound care for at least another two weeks! This healing business is hard work….as I read, watch tv, and go for walks….also while watching my husband work in the garden.
Yeah, healing can require some time. Been there, done that with some of my surgeries and my broken arm (when I was 14). Other times, it can go pretty quick, too, esp. with modern surgical techniques. My hernia repair, done with a laparascopy and keyhole incisions took very little time. A US sister company of my employer makes some of the gear for that so was kind of cool to be on the receiving end (don't think their stuff is up here, though, just the US).

Trust in God yes

Their water management sucks big time

I have seen during summer there people watering their cars in the heat of the day

Which is insane. Even here, we are starting to see more resistance to water management measures like lawn watering bans. It's like the only way some people will get it is when they are dehydrated and hungry due to severe drought. At least the Great Lakes will last us a while here in Ontario, but building pipelines gets expensive and the more water gets taken out of that system, the more risk there is of problems downstream. And it's also a shipping route so low water levels could impact that, too. Better to get ahead of it rather than let it slide into another mess.
