What a gorgeous day in southern Ontario
Haven't had chance to really enjoy it yet but 2 hours until quitting time. :giggle: Was quite nice when I went to get takeout for lunch.

OTOH, I hit one of the downsides of this city. There was a train crossing Clarke Road when I was heading down to where all the fast food is. And it stopped. :cautious:. I did a U-turn and took another route but this is one of three major North-South arteries in London with this problem. One is getting fixed by making an underpass to take the road below the tracks but no plans that I've heard of for Clarke. There are some side streets affected, too.

The Agawa Canyon Tour Train is pretty popular this time of year. It stops traffic at times which would be...going to work, and coming from work for some people. I have never heard one single complaint though. I think it is so beloved that people sit their way through it without grumbling. I would grumble if it were any other train though.

Trains have caused traffic tie ups in the Forest City since the beginning of time.
Yep. At least my office eventually moved North of the tracks, putting it on the same side as home, so they don't really impact my commute anymore. There's another level crossing that could but it is rarely used.

Our old house was 1/2 block from the railway lines. A fast way to church or downtown was across the tracks. The tracks were close to the yards, so you would often have to wait whilst they were jockeying back & forth.

There were other ways, of course, so we took those.

We had/have(?) a side porch, and when the kids were little, all the cousins would run to stand on the porch when they could hear trains, as you could see them from it.

Now, the Christmas train stops at that crossing, so once a year, the street is busy with the sounds of families, going to see it.

That was the problem I ran into when I was driving across the tracks to work at the old office. The Adelaide Street crossing is just outside a yard and somehow, they often managed to be moving cars around during rush hour.

Jayne reminded me of how excited my sister and I were to see the trains that crossed near my grandmother’s back yard. It was one of the reasons we liked to have sleepovers at her house. And of course we would count the cars.

My brother stayed over one night, and said the next morning, all he heard was the trains all night.
We were surprised, as we used to have the room he was sleeping in as our room.
It reminded me that he (and I ) never heard my parents grandfather clock with westminster chimes that was in the living room at the end of the hall with our bedrooms.
You just get used to the noises around you.

(Note: the yards have since moved further out of the city)

When we lived in Leamington and I was around, maybe 11 ( 1966) or so, the Anglican church was close to downtown, and we lived in the rectory beside the church. About 3 blocks down the other way were the train tracks and one year the train flew off the tracks.....Which was very close to some kind of fueling station. It was very scary because the black smoke from the crash was rolling down the main street and everyone was very concerned the fuel was going to blow or the trains tanks... fortunately it didn't, but what a scare.
About a year later the downtown stores caught on fire starting in Patterson's dry goods, what a mess and once again a bad fire.
Every time I see a train I remember that crash, still like watching them, but the memory comes up.

Waterfall, you likely know where Price is . When I was a baby, we lived at my maternal grandparents, which was just two houses from the main line going into windsor

Is Price a town or a street name? I never heard of a town called that around there.

Good morning! For gorgeous fall days, trains and train crossings, spellcheck changing the names of town, for all the rest of things that will turn up today, we gather round the Coffee Cart to discuss, perchance to laugh, weep, inspire, support, and enjoy each other's company, as well as drink coffee or tea, and eat muffins. All is ready, coffee is fresh, tea water near the boil, muffins warm. All are welcome, come join the fun!

A bomb exploded in Japan ... indicating how war has coincidental effects that are contradictory to the piece of peace declared ... more effect of human belief systems that are folly ... is there only one way out? Imagine putting all the entire physical stuff through there in a rush ... what a grind! Human?

Yet some particular phoque believe they know all about it without a thought otherwise!

Good morning! The weekend is coming, with seemingly decent weather, in this area. The Coffee Cart is up and running; coffee is fresh brewed, tea water is hot. Pumpkin spice flavouring is available, for those who want it. The cushions are fluffed, chairs dusted off. Come on in and have a hot beverage along with a piece of coffee cake. Come join the conversations! All is ready, all are welcome.
