Grocery stores don't typically carry much lamb here. It's not something we've really looked for, is it more common to find before Easter? Kinda like whole turkeys are?

Our Costco carries it for holidays. Sometimes I see lamb shanks or more commonly chops in the grocery store but they're normally cryopak.

Here in CGC, you can find every kind of food imaginable in the grocery stores. We even have whole grocery stores devoted to one culture's food or another. My Yobo frequents a Korean market.

@ChemGal
when I lived where you are I bought a lamb a year from a guy at Farmers Market. Custom cut and wrapped. Here my leg came from a butcher-it's imported as this years lambs are not ready yet. Lamb is a recommended first meat for babies as it tends to be much lower in antibiotics than other meat.
As you travel south chemgal PASU farms is a sheep farm with a restaurant and offsite sales!

and speaking of food what would Easter be without Hot Cross Buns?

Those I can take or leave. I imagine fresh homemade Hot Cross Buns would be amazing. The factorymade ones from the grocery store tend to be meh.

Thanks! It's not going to happen this year, but maybe we'll try lamb for Easter one year. Depend on who's coming it would be a good idea to test it out first.

I like them, as long as the raisins don't have seeds. I don't understand why anyone would include raisin seeds in a baked good - blech!

Sort of like may people's attitude towards tapioca or cream of wheat with lumps ...

In the paen of life stand up and take yere lumps ... if you get the taste ... its really not that bad!

Turkey here . . . cooking it tomorrow :). My company arrived last night and they are leaving early Sunday morning, so we will have our big meal tomorrow . . . and then those of us left behind will have leftovers . . . love turkey leftovers!

My mom used to make ham at Easter. I have made ham too, occasionally, but most often it is turkey for me.

Lamb was lovely. Was surprised tho that Superstore was out of name brand and generic frozen peas. What is lamb without peas? Had to use a kind with a butter sauce on them. It worked but we all prefer just plain peas.
Leg of lamb, a bag of small multi colour roast potatoes, carrots, yam, and peas. I laughed at my eldest who said " wow a faeast and for little work" He carved the lamb and stirred the veggies on the stove.
Leftovers in the fridge and lamb bone in slow cooker for soup
and 2 bonuses today-a friend drove an hour plus to sew with me-She is well on her way now with her first quilt
and eldest and I loaded a cedar strip canoe up and enjoyed a vigorous paddle.

In the floes of life it is best not to be a turkey ... or an ass or you could be roasted ... like biebers ... yet unselect groups still despise smart-asses as well as lumps in the pottage ...

Reporting in that last night's turkey feast at my sister Kae's place was dee-doubledee-licious! Turkey, smashed potatoes , glazed carrots, Mntstry Bkry dinner rolls, turkey dressing, homemade turkey gravy, cranberry sauce, and my mom's homemade pineapple smallcakes, and chococrackle cookies :)

Can smart asses transcend naïveté with a hidden lesson? Would this be dis taste full to those wishing not to know any moor?

Moor being uplands and downs all flattened out into a boring savannah ...

Needs something contrived to break the boring nature ... sort of like conjugation!

I think we must be turkey people . . .

Christmas - turkey
New Year's - turkey
Easter - turkey
Thanksgiving - turkey
Large family gatherings - turkey
Hi Beloved,

I had a colleague in my last job who talked about "turkey Catholics".

:ROFLMAO: These are Catholics who only attend mass on the turkey-eating occasions.

good morning folks.
I have had a rough week, and expect the next few months to be so as well. Can't say much, but, just some challenges being introduced, including more departures that have occurred. Part is my challenge, I am someone who drives through blocks and barriers, it is just who I am. It is partially why wondercafe2 exists. See a problem, push to get it resolved, if within my control to get it resolved, then team with others to make it happen. I guess, the good news is that there are always opportunities to learn in each, and...my choices for the future are confirmed each and every day.

Oldestson is attending motorcycle training all weekend. Bedroom is under wall repair right now. Good news it is getting done. I'm working. Trying to recover a bit from some heavy hits last week.
