We visited the indigenous centre north is Saskatoon about 18 years ago. It was very interesting

That's where we were yesterday. It's a great spot. They brought back a few bison in 2019 and now have about 25. The woman I asked wasn't sure of the exact number because new babies have been born.

And then you realize that if you go back to pre-colonial and early colonial times, the herds were several times bigger again and wow, did this continent ever lose something with their near extinction.

There are herds of wild bison in northern BC north of Fort Nelson. They hang out beside the highway so you'll usually see them on your travels there. They are massive animals.

Is there another buffalo jump in Saskatoon? I was at the one in Alberta, and it was a very impressive place. They had a show , I think it was in 3D, showing how they hunted.

I've even had the healthcare system reject a referral from my doctor because I already had the same type of specialist. That's rather ridiculous though, as they don't all do the same things.

There are herds of bison selling the Mackenzie Highway to Yellowknife in Wood Buffalo National Park. They are all small herds. Often saw large cranes with them. Not sure if they were Sandhill Cranes or Whooping cranes.

This is all too much to take ...

Yet things remain superficial and those at that level swear that such superstitions and curios do not exist ... thus the torching of heresy! It is a heated field ... where it all comes together essence of fire ... you just know there'll be an collision or incident in that space some day ... unless there is eternal room ... for the gods to dash to ... Dunne, gone?

Where do failed gods go when spent ... virtue descends ... in the eye of powers ... thus super heavy fluids that run deep ...

I was looking for an actual pic of the drop off- but it doesn’t show on the website.
Makes me wonder if there were relations between the Alberta and the Saskatoon hunters. In AB, they dressed up as wolves and circled them into the direction of the drop off.

I suspect they were. When I looked it up I saw Blackfoot on the list. They are in southern AB. I don't know about skates
Saskatchewan. They dressed as wolves in SK as well. Bison are afraid of wolves.

We too enjoyed the opportunity to visit. Especially grateful that the rain stayed away and allowed us to sit outside drinking the restorative coffee that Northwind so kindly made.

All of the indigenous peoples of the prairies in North America used similar techniques for hunting buffalo. Technology is usually shared by observation of what neighbours are doing.

I would seem bison would be dangerous in gobs and mobs ... just like human lumps in the universe ... hostile and violent out of unknown paranoia that has not been resolved!

Is there anything more dangerous that human globs? The get dense and dull so quickly ... logy fied ... like crap flies! Boids love it ... they can cloud the skies --- A Hitchcock!

Yep, I've heard of various species of bird doing that with large herds. And I thought the image of bison selling the highway would make for a rather nice Far Side or similar cartoon.

Didn't take a photo, but I was at a lovely potluck lunch today at the home of the co-leader of our Progressive Xianity Group. Lives on the shore of the lake in a lovely home that started as a family cottage. Tranquil beautiful spot. Anyway, besides great food and conversation, I was much entertained by the antics of a very conscientious robin, apparently feeding a second brood. Spent most of his time beneath one of the bird feeders, where there was apparently a treasure trove of worms. Must have got 1/2 dozen in the couple of hours that I was noticing him.

I finished my f*** Cancer hat today. The green yarn has sparkles. The other yarn with red is watermelon stripes. The recipient's mother thinks it looks great.
