Took the dog down to the rail trail that runs around the bay (and beyond). Walked into the setting sun for a km or so, and the colours/skyline were magical. Electric oranges and pinks, red-streaked clouds, a few 7 or 8 story apartments as a silhouette at the horizon.

The bay is frozen hard, and ice fishing people, and people who like to walk on ice (often with dogs), are out in full force. It's still quite light for a good half hour after full sunset, and there's been enough snow to reflect back all available light. There are glittering places on the ice where it froze clear and hasn't had a snow frosting since. I also saw a critter farther down, on the ice, didn't look quite like a dog, or a cat, I'm almost wondering if it was a big raccoon. The silhouette that I caught briefly actually made me think of a small pig.

Then, when I realized the breeze had picked up a bit, and that I'd be walking back into it, we turned around to return to the parking lot. The rising (almost) full moon was beautiful, as well. Just the faintest suggestion of shadow on a left lower curve (it's full tomorrow, I think). And the colours behind it, equally stunning to the sunset, albeit more subtle; a slightly darkening blue at the horizon, shading into the most delicate of lavender. And the horizon just tree silhouettes. Magical.

No doubt that poor ignored Baela felt better after some attention! We all know how deprived the poor girl is. (snort).

Yes indeed. It's a tough and deprived life she leads.

Good morning! Based on some of the posts above, we may have to reconsider the meaning of 'It's a dog's life.'
All is ready around the coffee cart, come help yourself.

The ins and outs can get dippy before really understanding ... thus immersion in fire, etc.

Could we have gotten ourselves into a frightening soup allowing the birth of monsters? Such is a path-eh ... called apathetic ... due to lack of care and concern for the entire thing as integral ... sad to go round in a reversible loop like mobius ... so both sides wear evenly on the great wheels ... quite paradoxical actually ... for those denying the beauty of understanding ... something else to care for! Anis ET an upstanding flavour ... that works on constitutions ... order is that you do not overdo the thing ... or you will be done in no time ... pun *ish'd? The sentient of the dark side that is never seen from where the poles are set ... fences or Wahls? Free choice ... then something approached the diminishing point ...

One must read a lot and include of the little bits that are deep! Consider the gentility ... is not with the hard bunch ... and in abstract what that seems up ... has its consequences too as all action has reaction in due time ...

Are we coming round to that?

As I commented to my team at work, it's a nice day if you're a polar bear. And apparently we aren't even getting the worst of it. The GTA and Eastern Ontario were supposed to get the brunt of it.

We have seemingly endless light snow. Several days already and the forecast is for more as they week goes on. My guy is tired of shovelling - but happy that we don't also have a sidewalk to maintain. If things get really deep our son brings over his snowblower and claims some baking to take home. Pretty reasonable exchange we think.

I heard yesterday that my younger daughter is off to join a cruise ship on Tuesday. Two weeks isolation on board in Miami before she starts working..

Greetings and salutations! As we begin to experience winter in earnest in most parts of the country, and hope for safety for family members on cruises, let us gather round the coffee cart, where conversation and community wait to welcome us. All is ready.

Thank you Red - I'll just sit a bit - just in from some shovelling in the sunshine. We had 40cm of snow - and of course add to that all which the road plow throws up onto our property. Mother Nature reminds us we are getting older as we tackle such tasks. An important reminder I saw yesterday - if you have gas furnace/hot water exhaust pipes exiting the side of your house, make sure to check that they do not become blocked by falling or drifting snow - potentially deadly. Stay well everyone!

Hoping for safety on the roads from this part of the world and Ontario and Quebec.
Over several days we have had light snow interrupted by freezing drizzle. A grand said he was relieved when he finally got to his workplace this morning - half an hour down a paved highway. Another grand also had problems getting to work. A small car is getting dug clear outside my house - they have help fortunately as the car contained 'ladies of maturity'!

Tomorrow is the funeral for my SIL's mother. It will be close to her home town, which is over two hours drive on good roads from here. My daughter and hubby are still trying to get out to the main road from the acreage. Lots of digging every time they get stopped by a drift. Later two grands plan to travel in different vehicles to get there as they are pall bearers. Other family members will be travelling on various highways - which are in terrible shape. Some have been listed as Travel Not Recommended. These people didn't need this on top of their loss! We will watch online!

Roads are a mess here too. We had warm weather yesterday, then rain, then a snow storm. Plows came by and then bobcats shoved a pile partially onto a sidewalk, not sure if there are plans for the city to deal with that as I don't see how we can move the heavy ice chunks.

My sister ended up stuck in the ditch yesterday trying to get a nephew to the emergency room. He was having difficulties breathing. No positive COVID tests in the household and I don't think he got to the hospital. I think he is better than her now - she cut het eyebrow when she slid to access getting out. My brother in law got them and vehicles all home.

Good morning! Hoping travel conditions are improving. Sidewalks beginning to reappear. Driveways are useable. and so on. The coffee cart is ready, 'mon in and help yourself.

Frost's out there ... snow man ... and also there's no women ... they had a meltdown in a frigid world ... sublime? Just vaporized ...

A stay home day for me today. The snow has stopped, the streets aren't ploughed yet, the wind chill is around -40C. This afternoon I will watch an online funeral.

Good morning. It's a dreary day with drizzle here. The snow is almost completely gone. We're heading out on a hike

We are having a warm-ish day but it is supposed to drop to freezing later which will, of course, freeze all the meltwater. And there's a storm with possible freezing rain, too. So people may be skating to work tomorrow.

Simple comfortable life is not possible because of erratic weather ...

There is an old adage if you don't like it .. wait a bit!
