Berlin, Germany has had a pub called "Das Klo" ( the loo) since the 1980ties. I think back then they used to have toilets for seats ( I was never in it), but now it seems to just have toilet themed decorations and other weird things. Here a 360 degree view from their website KLO - Die Kneipe | Virtual 360°-Tour created by Pano Line
It reminds me of a bar in Victoria called Big Bad Johns - was a university student hang out and I think it still is. Except, their benches and chairs are covered in burlap and they put out peanuts on every table - and there are peanut shells everywhere (those with peanut allergies better avoid the place - it's over 100 yrs old, former gold rush saloon, and I think peanuts are just embedded in there no matter how much they tried to clean it -which would be hard as the wood floors are ancient, and it has roughly the same amount of years of nostalgia stuck to the walls and hanging from the ceiling. I think anything that gets left behind there must go on the wall or ceiling. Bras, shoes, concert tickets, signed money, photos, drivers licences, souvenir stickers, paper coasters, bumper stickers, street signs - gold pans - the place was grunge before grunge was a thing - and every once in awhile the bar tender pulls a lever and drops one of the many plastic spiders over someone's table. It's an experience. It can legitimately be called a dive. But one of the coolest, oldest, ones around.

Looks like the German one has that same mystique. ;)

There is a restaurant here with peanuts and shells. My grandkids can't stick their noses in.

Five Guys Burgers has big sacks of roast peanuts to snack on while you wait for your burger. Delicious but would be hell if you have a peanut allergy. Basically makes the place inaccessible for them. Which is too bad because their burgers are excellent.

Cactus Club Cafe used to be like that, encouraging them to be thrown on the floor. I suspect they stopped that because of peanut allergies. They revamped their whole image since I first went, but the peanuts left well before the revamp.

I think it's actually good they do that, as they use peanut oil. Gives a really great warning that the food isn't safe for those with a peanut allergy.

image.jpg image.jpg I'm guessing none of those places are quite like Big Bad John's. If it wasn't a historical landmark and such a well loved watering hole it wouldn't have been around this long and still going (I'm guessing they've had their share of health inspectors in there - but it is kind of an "enter at your own risk place" in character.)

This place is a bar (that serves some appy type food from the hotel it's in - not a family restaurant) definitely adults only.

That big guy is "John" but I don't know if that's really his name or just a nickname.

Cactus Club is like Earl's; pretty food for pretty 20somethings. 5 Guy's is a no nononsense burger joint with a limited menu that they do well (burgers n shakes n fries n soda); lots of natural light in the eating area. Peanuts are in strategically placed bins with handy metal scoop and small paper trays. VERY SALTY.

And that's no s**t.

Ive been 2 Heaven
This location however looks like a place where characters from the Blade movies would eat

Actually, the one thing I dislike about Five Guys is the amount of salt they use in general. The first time I ate there the fries were way over-salted.
I dont think Ive ever noticed that prolly cause of all the peanuts I eat there o_O

Welcome to High Blood Pressure Cafe. Would you like a Sterlilized needle with your meal?
