Novel Coronavirus

That's not what I meant, chemgal, sorry.

We have put in place hugely increased restrictions in areas, like Ottawa, the GTA, and some of its adjacent counties, like York and Peel. Movie theatres and gyms closed again, only take out from restaurants, smaller social bubbles, etc.

And Quebec has its yellow-orange-red zones to similar effect.
Maybe if enough people have surgeries cancelled they will push for private clinics to do them *sigh*

Links to a graph showing the city's cases over time, sorry couldn't copy and paste.
So we can go to Galaxy land now in the mall, but no to something like a knee replacement is my guess - they didn't specify surgeries and procedures that would be cancelled, just which would not - urgent, cancer, etc.
Heck if I had an embollization scheduled for liver tumours (no surgery is in my plans based on their sizes) I don't even trust that would go forward right now unless bleeding was already occurring.

Oh, and there's a pilot where international travellers do not need to quarantine.

In transfer of energy there is always an efficiency loss ... where does efficiency go with what was lost?

It too is a mystery created by scientific observation of unknowns ... until thye become familiar!

Yes, but the individual choices need to be well-informed, and erring on the side of caution. I'm finding young adults the most uncautious, which I suppose is normal. I confess to having taken to "unkind eyes" in the face of the unmasked in the grocery store. I have particularly expressive eyes, and it doesn't take much to convey a sort of disgusted disdain.

Remember ancient folks are considered smelly old goats by certain factions .... I myself am uncertain about the non mature! Thus Adult Eire Rations ... good for a try!

Restrictions may help slow the spread but (in my opinion) the best preventative is individual choices.
Individual choices can only do so much though, when others are not. It's simply not possible to avoid others entirely for everyone.
And what happens when someone going to an event like this goes for a blood test a few days after?

I've seen on social media 12 are dead - who attended, so not secondary contacts. Was being posted as to why some of the local groups are not hosting socials for now. Different style, but I think good idea for any partner social dancing outside of a cohort.

I spoke to a nurse today who is going to move to Ontario in two weeks. There is no two weeks quarantine inOntario if you come from out of Province ( with her coming from NS, the risk would not be very great- we do have four active cases and nobody in the hospital )- but I am quite convinced that that is the reason why. And of course it is much easier to keep an eye on a population of under one million than of 14 mio.

I agree ... I am well informed by:
Dr. Margarite Griesz-Brisson MD, PhD is a Consultant Neurologist and Neurophysiologist with a PhD in Pharmacology, with special interest in neurotoxicology, environmental medicine, neuroregeneration and neuroplasticity.

If I am erring ... it is definitely on the side of caution and in consideration of the children and adolescents in particular.

For ages 1 to 15, Sweden kept day care and schools open throughout the height of the pandemic, and among the 1.8 million children of that age, there were zero COVID-19 deaths without masks used or physical distancing. Neither was there any excess risk for in-person teachers compared with the average of other professions.

Dr. Ari R Joffe, MD, teaches in the Department of Pediatrics, Division of Critical Care Medicine, University of Alberta and Stollery Children’s Hospital, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, and is a member of The Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada of Alberta, Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. He was also an advocate of lockdowns. Then he saw what they did in practice. Now he has documented the carnage in what might be the most comprehensive paper yet published.

Belgium is at the capacity of its hospitals. 15000 new cases a day, the hospitals are close to the point to have to choose between patients which one to treat. They already are not admitting everyone that would need it.
France is getting a new corona patient in the hospital every minute.
Netherlands is shipping some of their patients to Germany’s ICUs ( Germanyhas the greatest ICU capacities in Europe. Poland is building outside tents to treat Corona patients.
In an interview with a Belgium nurse, she said- we will have to chose if we treat a 30 year old or a 60 year old- how am I going to live with that? I don’t know.
A Belgium Infection specialist says: Belgium population is just now getting it that Corona is a danger- but it is too late.

If I was the 60 year old ... given the choice ... I would choose the 30 year old ...

The average age of the newly 'infected' (what does that really mean?) people is going up, according to figures by health institute Sciensano.

“In the age group of people over 70, the figures are now doubling on a weekly basis, and in the group over 90 years old, the figures double every five days,” said Van Gucht. “Unfortunately, this will result in a further increase in hospitalisations, as well as deaths.”

Van Gucht approved of the additional measures taken by the government on Friday morning, but stressed that “we hold the greatest lever in our own hands,” urging everyone to respect the measures at all times.

So, if your province happens to get to this state, just don’t go to the hospital. Because otherwise, you make the health professional have to make that choice, because you won’t know who is dying in the room next to you.
Or simply, follow social distancing, wear your mask and encourage others to follow the rules to reduce the spread.

Given my previous history of clinically documented neurologic disorders that often mimic 'symptoms' of what this 'testdemic' purports to claim inevitably as covID ... I will do my best to avoid going anywhere near a hospital or 'testing' site within the province of my body which would likely result in a misdiagnosis of what has been ailing me for sometime prior to this 'novel' health care crisis. I have ceased availing myself of medical 'expertise' since I cancelled my last medical appointment towards referral for CT/MRI in Mid March at my own discretion.

I would rather die at home than subject myself to a hospital setting in these times of unaccountable hysteria.

Some good info in here. Doesn't support a lockdown. More info on how this seems to be speafing and is in support of backtracing. Hopefully as cases go up more effort will be put towards that. I wish we had a good national app with high enrollment that could help. Plus as I suggested before a little bluetooth device or something for those without phones. Or even with but mot everyone carries one most of the time when out. Smaller clipable option. A bit of a push could help too. Ie make it mandatory or very strongly encouraged as for masks. There's less risk with a little bluetooth device than a mask.
