I think you are probably oversimplifying the broader social and public health ramifications that are secondary to this.
I was sort of asking why is reporting (constantly in the news) on all the numbers necessary? Why not just the serious cases? That would be a more realistic perspective of the threat. Because when they keep saying a bunch more people have it but they are in recovery at home...people are only focused on how many have it, not how many are in present danger. They don't do this with the flu...which can also be very serious to higher risk groups.
When the AIDS epidemic was going on, before they found drugs that brought the virus down to negligable levels did they shut the world down to protect those people from colds and flus?
I'm pointing out other angles to be considered
I want you to look out for yourself and stay safe and I am distancing (when you visited I missed you because I felt a bit of a cold coming on, remember? It was brief and may have been I was just a bit run down but I didn't want to take chances and visit the cancer centre). I still think the measures are too extreme based on the facts.I appreciate knowing this information. My behaviour might change if I know I'm surrounded by it. I'm taking care of myself well now and may only isolate a bit more if I'm surrounded by it. The information may not apply to you. Don't listen to it or follow it if that's the case. It is important to me and to others to have the information.
I'm saying shutting everything down is extreme and I'm very skeptical. When you point out these other angles it appears like you're saying that we shouldn't do anything about this virus because not enough is being done or has been done about the other issues. If that's not what you're saying, you need to be more clear.
I still think the measures are too extreme based on the facts.
And yet the experts who have the proper facts feel differently.
I do appreciate you distancing when I was in your town.
I have a feeling if this drags on there will be experts noticing a huge gap between the threat and the fears.
WHO are the experts? CDC? FEMA?And yet the experts who have the proper facts feel differently.
but the issue is that our hospitals operate at close to 100% capacity. All the time
