Anarchy is the far end of the political chaos scale ... always with us because it is an essence that won't go away! Maybe because of stinking authority rules?

Considering all the anxiety about food chain reliability ... how do we deal with all the processing in Canada that moved soude of the border?

Is such efficiency efficable given the baffling walls ...

I let my toothbrush sit in vinegar for a while during the course of a cold and get a new one when I feel better
I've heard that out of all the "vinegars" that malt vinegar has the most potential for killing this virus FYI.....but that has not been widely confirmed either....

Thanks for that -it did occur to me maybe I should disinfect my, say, jar of vegemite, when I return from shopping - but, like you, I think that that is no way to live.......

Also, just say I get sick with this virus -whilst I'm still ill can I make the illness worse by not disinfecting anything I might touch in the apartment? Or, is it a case that once you catch the virus it will run its course, and you can't make things worse for yourself?
I appreciate your answers, ChemGal - living on my own and being over 70, it's comforting to know that others know more about illnesses generally than I do.
IMO you should continue cleaning, it would be better to heal in a clean environment.....I probably would open windows occasionally to clean the air out once in a while too.

Both my kids are now more or less working from home.

in Naples, where we live in the winter, beaches have closed as well as schools like other places

but they recognize that a lot of children in the school system get most of their nutrition through school breakfast and lunch programs. So they are providing food bags for students to pick up in the parking lots at certain times of day

It is breaking my heart to hear about all the people without shelter and the children who only survive because of food supplied at school. I so wish our governments had listened to me and acted on this situation over the years.

It seems they can act fast for mortgage relief.

Ibroprofen makes it worse? I've been taking it lately for my back (but conservatively as it can bother my stomach.)

Do we even have over-the-counter paracetamol in Canada?

Paracetamol - Wikipedia
en.wikipedia.org › wiki › Paracetamol

Paracetamol, also known as acetaminophen and APAP, is a medication used to treat pain and fever. It is typically used for mild to moderate pain relief. There is mixed evidence for its use to relieve fever in children. It is often sold in combination with other medications, such as in many cold medications.

Looks like Tylenol would fit this description.

Here's an article with most current info - Covid-19: How long does the coronavirus last on surfaces?
Keep in mind that it's a DROPLET spreading virus - so containing your cough or sneeze is important - as it always is with a resp illness. If you look up droplet ppe recommendations - keep in mind these are usually written for those working inside health care environments where everyone is already ill and compromised - it's a bit different if you're just on your own.
Pilgrims - I don't thing you would make yourself any 'more ill' when ill, if not crazily disinfecting everything. Keep up good practices and don't panic :-)

Issam Ahmed AFP Published Wednesday, March 18, 2020 9:08AM EDT

WASHINGTON -- The novel coronavirus can survive on some surfaces for days or in the air for several hours, according to a U.S.-government funded study published Tuesday.

Scientists found that the virus that causes the COVID-19 disease had similar levels of viability outside the body to its predecessor that caused SARS.

This means that other factors like greater transmission between people with no symptoms might be why the current pandemic is far greater than the SARS outbreak of 2002-2003.

The new paper was published in the New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM) and carried out by scientists from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), University of California, Los Angeles and Princeton.
The new coronavirus was detectable for up to four hours on copper and two to three days on plastic and stainless steel, and for up to 24 hours on cardboard.

The team used a nebulizer to simulate a person coughing or sneezing, and found that the virus became an aerosol -- meaning its particles became suspended in the air -- making it detectable for almost three hours.

The study was first posted on a medical pre-print website last week before it was peer-reviewed, and attracted much attention, including some criticism from scientists who said that it may have overstated the airborne threat.

The virus is predominantly transmitted by respiratory droplets and in this form it is viable for only a few seconds after a person coughs or sneezes.

Critics questioned whether a nebulizer accurately mimicked a human cough or sneeze.

That said, there is other evidence to suggest it can become an aerosol, albeit in rare circumstances.

Voila ...

According to the following link to a report from "The Local" out of Denmark, the government in Copenhagen has now passed a "law" that forces MANDATORY vaccination against this "COVID-19 virus" on every single Dane once that "vaccine" is developed.

https://www.thelocal.dk/20200313/denmark-passes-far-reaching-emergency-coronavirus-law

Jens Elo Rytter, law professor at Copenhagen University, said the measures were unlike anything passed in the last 75 years "It is certainly the most extreme since the Second World War," he told the Jyllands-Posten newspaper. "There have been some powerful encroachments in various terror packages. But this goes further."

Trine Maria Ilsøe, DR's court correspondent, said that Danish citizens could face prosecution under the new law if they refused to comply with health authorities' demands. "It means that you could be sentenced to a punishment if you, for example, refuse to allow yourself to be tested for coronavirus," she said.

The Ministry of Health will now work with the Ministry of Justice on the details of how the police will work with health officials to enforce their demands.

As well as enforcing quarantine measures, the law also allows the authorities to force people to be vaccinated, even though there is currently no vaccination for the virus.

For the record ...
I am not questioning that people will die from coronavirus.

I am all in favor of taking precautions to protect those in vulnerable categories to limit their risk of exposure.

When the “threat” is over, however, I have to wonder ... will 'government' give their 'human capital' 'freedom' back?

yes Advil and aleve drugs seem to worsen the condition. Avoid. Including topical things like voltarin

back to Tylenol, ice packs

Viruses need cells to multiply, so once on a surface, the amount there only decreases. So no need to disinfect everything. One can be much more susceptible to a bacterial infection once sick, so sure, clean out a CPAP as Kay mentioned. I find I can taste/smell (if I can smell!) my breath that suggests there is more bacteria when sick, probably due to increased mouth breathing/dry mouth. There isn't a concern about the virus particles from yourself for yourself when sick. The risk would just be to someone else.

No one here calls it that. Paracetamol is what the British call it, and probably other places. Acetominophen is how it is labelled in Canda & the US if you look at active ingredients.

The Ibuprofen thing does not have much evidence behind it, but right now it's kinda better safe than sorry (and I know doctors on facebook saying the same). If sick with this, I would avoid all NSAIDs and aspirin as they tend to cause the same issues. If someone is supposed to take an NSAID or aspirin all the time though, wouldn't suggest stopping without checking in with a doctor.

Resistance might prove to be futile and we may just be acting like trained seals (maybe we need to do what they want, to get this f***ing ridiculous time over with faster so “they” will lift restrictions...IOW, i don’t think they are going to be able to contain this and it will continue to spread like the common cold does.

My hope is when they look at the stats at the end of this it will become apparent to people that we can’t go through all this again unless it’s something far more deadly. I betcha this is a “fire drill”... anyways, gotta do what we gotta do...for our own good, do what we’re told. I’m doing it.

Where’s Greta Thunberg these days? Any news about her and the environment? School is shut down everywhere so Friday protests are impotent. Because asymptomatic kids who wouldn’t qualify for testing to know if they have it anyway, might give it to seniors, they have to cancel school. (???) Well, everbody’s using more disposable everything right now, aren’t they? Not too concerned about whether the contents are biodegradable, are they? Fewer people will be taking transit, or car sharing. And why are we not hearing anything from people who have it and are at home, telling us about how bad it is?
