I wonder why SK has them in quantity if no one else does?
Ontario does now, apparently, but that's fairly recent. And up until now, what they did have was mostly going to places like LTC, for distribution in schools, and that sort of thing. Distributions to the public have been sporadic at best. Even this one is only scheduled to last 8 weeks unless they get more supply.

I was out and about a bit today, to the dollar store, the LCBO, the grocery store, a pharmacy. All I saw was "we have NO rapid test kits here".

Then there are those folks that are sloe and testy ... a nature store up before the general populace explodes at the power hungry!

Empires go down ... there are classic written about that ... a consequence of avarice! Few understand the circular process ... defines ah ole thing ...

Blind, faithful people may be confined there ... Stockholm Syndrome?

Or is it likely that different provinces/health units have different priorities for distribution, and some of it depends on simple demographics? The way you'd arrange for distribution of test kits in a hamlet in rural Alberta, versus how you would arrange the same thing in a small city of 200,000 in Ontario with a bunch of chain grocery stores and pharmacies, a provincial liquor distributor and beer store/recycling-returns, etc. Provincially, and I know that the health units have reps who meet regularly, you need to identify hot spots/hot occupations, etc.

Mandela's url on the post # 8476...type in your cities name and it will tell where the rapid tests are being handed out. I did it and easily picked mine up today.

What caused the discrepancy? Could it be that some provinces asked for more than others?
It was the when. Alberta was actually trying to get more tests buying them separately as the federal government didn't have enough. The plan was each person could get another kit after 14 days. Most were out with hours when they became available before Christmas Dec 17 I think. Some pharmacies finally got restocked last week, my area of the city was this week. Sk basically asked for them before other provinces were handing them out to the general public.

I'm curious with using so many places in ON how to they look you up? Or is there no list style of system? I would find it weird to go to ACE liquor or Wine and Beyond and have the person there use my healthcare number.

This article explains distribution a bit better.

Basically here before Omicron we were doing PCR testing only for diagnostics. The rspid tests were only for REP and workplaces that were voluntarily doing it plus a bit of government oversight with schools and healthcare settings.

When Omicron hit PCR tests were no longer feasible.

This info is a bit confusing because it says that she was in the hallway and the Covid patient was in a room next to the hallway. So technically, she wasn’t in the room with a Covid patient and the Covid patient was isolated in a room. Just saying. Not that I agree to people having to be in hallways.
I do not agree to people being in the same room with Covid patients, but it doesn’t seem to have been the case here.

Let us face it ... life is confusing due to excessive drive to economize for unknown reason to the paradigm ... while those of the top crust find confusing best to their advantage ... supportive to absolute intelligence without a care ... once known as anime as it comes around the turn ... and the cycle of intelligence also has ups and downs ...

May lead to much screaming and childish behaviour among leaders ... like parliament? Odd item of discussion is it not ... and some say naught cannot exist! Thus considerable depts as it has not been encompassed ... beyond grip of moralization! Kind of Satyr-like in Shakespearean usage ... a favoured biblical form for reason also unknown ...

With a door with people going in and out - I wouldn't feel safe like that, especially with the current variants circulating.

These days, I wouldn’t go into any emergency department if I didn’t have to. We are still in a pandemic. NS has tried to address the thousands of people who do not have a family doctor by creating a virtual consulting system. I am not sure how well that works, but it seems like the cases coming to emergency now are the ones that need to be seen. ER still is over capacity every single day, which is also not uncommon for the winter season and for an aging population. Additionally, everybody who has just one of the Covid symptoms and everybody who is coming from a facility which has an outbreak has to be isolated. That requires a lot of single rooms.

I decided to carry on with caution. Confessing to some curiosity about the possibilities when the infamous horn honkers start spreading themselves around the country.

Ontario is lifting capacity limits this week and vaccine passports March 1. Mask mandate remains for now, with plans for lifting it coming later.

Vaccines are/ will be waning, spring and summer are on the way, nobody knows if Omicron numbers are down or not because we dont count that anymore.
We have forgotten that a virus sends the message, not the politicians.
I guess we just wait to hear from the ICU's.
