Wasn't curling already international, or was that Canada only?
Did the worlds go ahead or just the nationals? I don't really pay attention to the sport anymore now that there's no curlers left in my own family. They could actually have done the 14 days as long as they times the arrivals right since that's a fixed length tournament happening in one place without the travel involved in a league playoff.

I had to google as I didn't watch any of it - Worlds. There were delays with teams testing positive, that's about the only reason it stuck in my mind, I'm not totally sure if it ended up finishing, being cut early, etc. I guess if I searched for results I would find out.

Curling Men's and Women's did finish in Calgary, although there were delays and all of the women's wasn't broadcast due to outbreaks amongst the broadcasters.
Mixed wasn't in Canada.

Stage 1 for Ontario has been moved up to June 11 (from June 14). So basically end of this week rather than beginning of next.

I have not heard any reaction from health authorities, but some were concerned that the second dose criteria in the plan are two low given that you need both doses to have decent protection from Delta.

We shall see how this goes...

Plans are still to go forward with stage 2 June 10 here.

I don't think it's a totally unreasonable step, although I do question some of the can do this but not do that. Ie. I won't be jumping to eat in at any restaurant soon, but that will be allowed.

Last summer we did do a trip to visit my parents - sister and kids ended up still being their unexpectedly - they were supposed to be there a few days and then my brother in law had to get a covid test so they didn't go back home until his results were in. Chemguy and I only went in the house when no one else was inside to use the bathroom. All 7 of us were mostly outdoors the entire time. Dinner was ordered, Chemguy and I did the serving. Parents cleaned the bathrooms before we showed up and we used hand sanitizer as soon as we got outside (plus washed our hands inside). There was a lot of hand sanitizing in general and we also brought our own water and snacks. We kept a bit of distance from the other adults - kids not so much although we did try to avoid close face to face (Chemguy did have a total failure of that at one point). At the time we could have all been eating inside together, etc, we took steps above and beyond the restrictions. If we dropped the aspect of playing with kids ie. just went to see my parents I think we could do that with negligible risk.
That's not allowed now. Step 2 - still would not be allowed, if we wanted to go have an outdoor BBQ with my parents in Calgary we would have to go to public restrooms as we wouldn't be allowed to go inside the house, even with no one else in there just to use the washroom. - Kenney mentioned a backyard BBQ with friends after his Whiskey patio party - I do wonder if he kept to the law for that BBQ when it came to bathroom breaks.

Then come end of June/beginning of July it's a free for all.

BC enters another phase of freedom on the 15th if things continue to go well. We can eat in restaurants now. We've eaten out a couple of times. It felt safe because the restaurants were at much reduced capacity. I don't think we'd feel as comfortable if there were more tables or if the rest of society were opened up. We've been able to get haircuts and massages and the like for a year. Again, there have been strict protocols businesses have to follow so they feel safe. We're hoping the travel restrictions are lifted on the 15th so we can go to the mainland on the 16th. One day at a time.

I didn't hear if hairdressers were allowed to open again in Ontario? I'm seeing some pretty amusing "Covid hair" again...

I think you've probably see pictures of my long-haired, hairy husband these days. Who knew he could grow such a beard. :)

I do find it interesting how the numbers seem to respond in different places. Alberta's 3rd wave ended with pretty much a cliff drop. That wasn't seen with other provinces and ON was much more strict. BC was just different, hard to say which province had more strict restrictions. Quebec harder to compare, as the curfew was placed in the 2nd wave, so vaccines don't factor in at all, I don't think they eased up much prior to the 3rd wave hitting.

My son had an exercise with the reserves this weekend. He had to have a haircut, plus he had to shave off his big red beard due to gas mask wearing. My spouse got out the clippers and did a fine job. Surprised us all. Son looks really young. he probbly would get carded.

My old guy's nephew has a beard that rival's your mates'. It's bright red, thick as a Viking's, and he tends to keep it in order by tying a great big knot in it.
This is the beard that I lust for. Mrs. M would probably veto it, though.

His wife seems to be okay with it :p (he is my age and has been sporting that basic look for 20+ years).
Maybe if Mrs. M goes on vacation. I'm sure there's a market for long beard models. Not sure how long it takes to achieve that though, she may need to be on a very long worldwide cruise or something to get that look!

Cruises - no need to be vaccinated:

I am not for mandatory vaccinations for general access to things. It's too discriminatory when it comes to health issues.
Cruises right now though? I see those as a pretty big privilege. I say go to the point of requiring antibody tests, may as well contribute to finding out protection levels. Then when we know more start requiring a minimum amount.

So unlike my Type 2 Diabetes (failure to use insulin effectively), which tends to develop later in life, Type 1 (failure to produce sufficient insulin) usually appears early in life. UNLESS, it is caused by SARS-CoV-19. Yep, there is increasing evidence that the virus can destroy pancreatic beta cells, giving otherwise health people Type 1 Diabetes. Article is from ABC News and cites NIH head Francis Collins so seems solid.

There's been an increase in diabetic emergencies in kids too, likely related. 'It was scary': Doctors warn of increase in children presenting with diabetic ketoacidosis during pandemic
With adults though, I am a bit confused by type 1 vs. LADA.
