Everyone here has to wait for 15minutes after their shot so sudden, catastrophic reactions can be promptly dealt with. So far I haven't heard of any.
Here it is a 10 minute wait for the same reason (as is the rule for most vaccinations -- in theory at least) I suspect there have been some rare reactions given the vast number of shot given across the country.

It's the same with the flu shot but it isn't really enforced like they've been doing with the COVID shots.

IME it depends where I get the flu shot (AHS site vs a pharmacy for example) how much it is enforced. I got both my COVID shots at the same place so I can't speak to enforcement of waiting times in that comparison

I have been getting my flu shot at the pharmacy in my grocery store before we start shopping, so then I am in the store for probably 20 minutes or more after.

When I've gotten my flu shot in a pharmacy, I'm advised to remain in the store for 15 minutes; but I can wander around "shopping." It's pretty much on the honor system, too. When I've gotten them at flu shot clinics, the 15 min. rule is a little more stringently enforced.

I have not bothered with flu clinics in a while. Ever since they started offering it in pharmacies, it has always been easier to do it that way. I have three pharmacies within a ten minute drive, whereas health unit clinics tend to be further afield and I can't combine it with shopping or other trips.

I've historically had my flu shot at the docs. The N-P gives it to you and says "wait 15 mins before you leave", but there's no-one "enforcing" it, so I tend to shave off a few mins.

I wasn't required to wait with my 2nd dose. I left, I figured Chemguy was better equipped to handle a bad reaction than the pharmacy. If I was on my own I would have waited (he was in the parking lot). For my first dose I was asked to wait longer than most due to my history.

THere was an interview on CBC this morning saying that there is doubt the expected bump in birthrate will happen due to the ongoing economic uncertainty at least partly related to the pandemic
Despite availability of contraception in todays world, my hunch is this spike in birthrate was not a planned one.

Ontario requires 70-80% with at least one dose and 25% fully vaccinated to go to stage 3, which still isn't full open so I hope you'll understand my incredulity. Ford muses now and then about speeding things up but David Williams, the provincial medical officer, usually throws cold water on it.

I think it's a bad idea but not a huge surprise.
At least it's starting in summer. Had it been with say Thanksgiving it would be much harder to keep in check if backtracking is necessary.

The under 12 group is also a concern, I hope something comes out for school aged kids at least before Sept.

Yeah, that's really the big concern now. The high schools are covered and middle schools/senior public schools in areas that separate them from elementary (like Waterloo Region where I went to school), but the elementary kids still don't have an option.

Not much different than here with the 70% minimum.

And the 70% number is skewed because there is more buy-in in the larger centres in AB. I suspect that's similar in other provinces. I know friends in GP are concerned about the opening because their vaccine rate is around 50% . We were going to spend a night or two in AB on our way east. We're rethinking that and may just wait and see how it plays out.

Yeah, in some areas it's pretty low. Even here, I'm not thrilled with the rate, it's been a few days. Lack of supply seems to be the biggest problem here.

What's your concern with being here though? You would be fairly safe with a trailer, or were you planning on doing some low-moderately risky-ish things that will be even higher risk with lack of restrictions?

The issue isn't lack of supply in some areas. There's a lack of buy-in and a preponderance of conspiracy theories. I have friends in GP who are quite concerned about being in that city where those attitudes are prevalent.

We have no problem just driving through or with spending the night in an RV park. We had planned to do a bit of shopping. We also have friends we want to visit. The friends aren't a concern. We are evaluating the situation and don't have to decide for a couple weeks
