My husband has had a hernia since January, and it has become debilitating and painful. I have had hip and knee pain that I have been dealing with since April. Both of us have referrals in to other doctors, but will take some time. Both of us can barely walk. He uses crutches; I use a cane. When my husband went to emerg for extreme pain, (he actually had been in tears with the pain), the doctor said: "Why are you here? I can't help you." I used to enjoy going for walks....an enjoyment that is now a distant memory. Walking is pure torture. I know all of this sounds quite whiney...Well, it is. I needed to whine. Whew. Now I feel better, and can laugh again about how old my husband and I have suddenly become.

Sorry to hear you're in a rough patch. Wish the doctor could do more for your husband. Take care and hope things improve. We had a point where I was limping and my wife's arm was in a sling. Not quite the same but getting there.

I am so sorry to hear of the pain and distress experienced by you and your husband. His treatment at the hospital was very callous. Ageing is not for the faint of heart, is it?
 
My cousin is an Emergency nurse near Ottawa. She had visited us the week before my husband went to Emerg. She encouraged him to go, citing the minimum of things they would do for him. When I told him about his experience, she was genuinely appalled.
 
Really sorry to hear that Nancy. Definitely people are suffering because they are unable to access surgery

good article today saying we don’t need these daily numbers. We need to live with this. We need to be reminded to take precautions but the shut down was to not overwhelm hospitals. we haven’t. They aren’t. So we need to be aware that x number of people are in hospital but we don’t need the daily scare

Almost 300 staff had to isolate recently and lots of surgeries cancelled. Not sure how bad things have to be to acknowledge the healthcare system isn't able to run well due to this. Galaxyland opens this week smh.
 
Heartfelt sympathy to Nancy and hubby. Where I am we can still access medical care as needed. Other than life threatening things that go directly to ER the preferred action is to phone first. The receptionist then directs you as best she can. Often this is "I'll tell Dr. Whoever and ask his advice". That results in "The Dr. said- go to ER - they are expecting you, or the Dr. will phone you this afternoon, or the Dr. wants you to make an appointment".
 
The lingering effects that some people have after COVID infection seem many and varied. There is a group of these long haulers online who are sharing their experiences and getting encouragement from a pulmonologist.

I've heard Toronto is drastically scaling back on contract tracing. I hope they are at least doing the back tracing aspect.
With more nd more of the decisions I don't understand why things were so restricted in the spring.

We still don't have much for treatment and certainly not on a large scale. The mortality rate is about the same as before when adjusted for age. We're seeing more long term complications than what we knew about.

Can folk in plastic bubbles be flattened ... Trump would like to know about the flexibility of the ordin Eire situation ... as he isn't!

Takes a far stretch to envision that this is a poe' following ... a cross the boards as a T?
