Actually it calls for meat or not. It doesn't specify that the meat is dead before it is eaten.

There are cultures that favour eating some of their meat while it is still alive.

Okay John, that seems like a fair and interesting point. Can you name a few of those cultures for us John. Course, said eating of live animals would still entail the killing of animals.

Tofu is made from soy. Grown , harvested roasted or boiled. Steamed drained and then pressed into pads

Cheese is basically milk that is curdled. Granted the milk comes from an animal that grazed on grass and then is milked.

It I would say that cheese is a more natural product than soy.

Not if you are vegan of course

You're correct in saying that that's how dairy cheese is produced Lastpointe. There are other kinds of cheeses though.

The thread also does not ask for moral valuation of eating habits. It simply asks if one eats meat or does not.

At most it speaks to preference without any kind of ethics testing.

Disagree with you there John. From @Mendalla's OP, "Here is a thread to debate and discuss whether we should eat meat or not."

Japanese cuisine features a number of live animal eating preferences. Octopi and squid being the most common animals to be ingested alive.

Chammoran cuisine (Guam) features a soup made from a live fruit bat. The bat usually dies during the cooking process but parasites within are typically still alive.

Some African cultures eat live larvae/pupae as part of their diet.

It is my understanding that in the ancient Near East and Africa there was a feast by the rich and powerful in which a prime bullock was secularly trussed and strips of its living flesh were cut off and consumed raw. I am not sure if the animal was drugged or not. I suspect that the Biblical injunction against consuming "meat with the blood in it" might be based on this.

Consider how animalistic and beastly some of God's world is in doing as it wiles ... causes considerable separation across the divide .. a divine thingy?

Agreed, with the Noahide Laws (the first Jewish laws for righteous gentiles) making no mention of the type of meat, merely that the critter should not be alive when the meat is taken from it...

Funny ... the directives against cruelty from the past ... which we've forgotten ... then there is the cruelty of Jae ... just to accommodate people to apocalypse ... the great shining! Blossoming of the other kind ...

I remain omnivorous ... or Omni various if you prefer ... take it all in and pass that not useful at the time ... fecundity for a future situation?

I've decided against becoming vegan. Just going to eat a bit healthier than I have been is all.

Okay... the truth is, Yobo told me to quit it. She said what I really need to focus on is starting to eat more Korean food.

Ah well. You know what they say, "행복 한 아내, 행복 한 삶."*

*"Happy wife, happy life."

Like you're going to have much choice.;)

No doubt you'll lose some weight once you get to Korea. And whining about the food won't be a thing ... time to adult!
