Carney walked away from the negotiating table.

Carney declared that Canada would only resume talks when the United States showed the right attitude.

Carney demanded that America treat Canada as an equal partner.

Carney threatened dollar-for-dollar retaliatory tariffs.

Carney not Trump has chosen Canada's path forward.

Once the dust settles it will be interesting to see if Carney was the best choice to deal with Trump in the long run.

As a sovereign non partisan citizen living out my life in North America - to the best of my ability - I will continue to roll with the punches.

I have no loyalty to one country over another yet wholly interested in following the politics of these days.

In the grander scheme of politics Canada - Alberta Independence is where I have a real vested interest.

Overall, I hope for nothing but the best for North America but I don't wear rose colored glasses.

I could understand that implication if I had written it like this.

Howzit that Trump has chosen the wrong path forward but Carney's choice is wronger?

The statement as I wrote it implies neither right or wrong on for Trump or Carney.

Carney made a choice for the North American country of Canada

Trump made a choice for the North American country of the United States.

Sheinbaum made a choice for the North American country (of my personal favorite) Mexico.

They are all independent agents making choices that affect the whole.

Whether they should or should not have done so is yet to be determined.
 
Ignorance is an enigma and those supporting it have trouble electing leaders that can get the divide together ... rapturous? That feeling that gets you when your clues are distraught ...

Deal with it says the primal power that washed hands of the mess created down here ... under the sky! Damn ... an ongoing puzzle to use another word to add to the extensions ... word is prodigious ... multiplies under a alien force ... many will not waste words on it but what does one do to amuse the ultimate point? It may be where stars are set to penetrate themselves ... illuminating? Something to look into again ...

Cyclical or just circumspect as it goes 't around ... they do that changing as circling the table ... that's the word on what it isn't ... because we don't know what it is ... because of the alte ration ...

Because it harkens back to a day when it was only great for some. It is a racist dog whistle, a sexist call-to-arms, and a regressive rallying cry.

It's actually the original Wendat name of the lake kept by the post colonial, genocidal nation that stole it so I would argue it is the proper name for the lake and province if we are going to have a post-colonial name. Remember that "Canada" is also derived from an indigenous name.

What he said. MAGA is about rolling back the clock to the time they think America was great, not when it was actually at its best. How about looking back to things like women's suffrage, the ERA, and the civil rights movement rather than to racial and gender oppression and white straight cismale domination? That would be making America great. Leave out the "Again" part and make it forward-looking, not backwards.
 
In a memo just ahead of the 25th anniversary of 9/11the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) says terms like "terrorist" and "terrorism" are politically and emotionally loaded and (without attribution) should be used with "extreme caution":unsure:

The FBI describes 9/11, which killed nearly 3,000 people, as the most lethal terrorist attacks in history.
 
My son is very anti-Carney. He believes what the Americans have said, that Carney pulled out of the talks as a political advantage for him. My son is very invested in a podcast called Moose on the Loose. He also believes that Carney financially gains from many of his policies. I don't believe this. I hope I am not proven wrong.

Yes, they are and yes, they should be. They are often misused. However, 9/11 is most definitely terrorism by any definition (I tend to lean to "deliberate attacks targeting civilians to maximize psychological impact"). So is Oklahoma City. So, too, the Quebec mosque attack and various attacks on churches in the US.

However, if you think carefully on it, a lot of attacks on civilian targets in war qualify, too. The bombings of Coventry and Dresden in WWII come to mind. So, too, various US-backed guerilla operations over the years that have spread fear among civilian populations (think the Contras).

Terrorism is not something the "other guy" does. It's anybody who uses fear and violence against civilian populations even when it's your own or an allied government or faction.
