I just bought myself a beginner's acrylic kit, with the idea to start painting rocks, and leaving them for people to find.

I've done one, which I haven't sealed yet, and don't really know how to photograph, as it's a funny elongated cube, on every side of which I've done some 'rock-y doodling'; the inspirational quote is "see the good".

I'd like to try watercolours again. I learned on high school. That was a little while ago. ;) I did learn to use acrylics in the last couple of years. They are fun because you can make them look like watercolours or oils or whatever.

We're home after a short visit to the town where we used to live. It was nice to visit friends and camp. I got some work done on a throw I'm knitting for a coworker who has been off work for a bit. She was in a motor vehicle accident in July and had apparently been struggling with a concussion and likely whiplash. We're putting together a comfort basket for het so I figured she needed a hand knit soft throw. She appreciates hand crafts so I'm enjoying making it

I have a few rocks I want to paint...haven't gotten to them yet...cool idea to leave them around.

Niece used oil pastels in Gr. 1 this year and I'd also like to try them...along with the umpteen other items on my wish list ;)

Hmmm...rolled a bunch of newspaper tubes for a basket LAST night and the glue must have been too old or something as they are all coming unrolled!

I read a bit in the News several years ago about two boys who found a beautifully painted rock while playing in their local river. The parents thought it MUST belong to someone so sent them to the newspaper to see if they would get the word out about their find. several other people said they had found painted rocks there too. Eventually a woman fessed up that she had been painting rocks and dropping at the river hoping they would bring some joy to someone!

Niece and I found a painted rock in the school parking lot one summer but not in an area where anyone would have normally been (ie for an accidental dropping)...still have it - a ladybug :)

Followed up yesterday's 84 km bike ride with an 82 km bike ride today. And as a bonus, I got lost at last in a part of town I rarely visit. Being lost can be fun though, as I saw some new stuff and eventually found my way home. :)

I painted with watercolours for awhile after the kids grew up and left home. Just kind of fell into it - a friend was taking a course andd invited me along. Good instructor - she only allowed a very limited palate of colours, and NO drawing the picture first. Watercolour is an interesting and unforgiving medium. You can't remove or paint over your mistakes. So if you make a mistake, or dribble a dark colour on a light area you have to live with it - incorporate it into your work - turn a drop of dark coloour into a stone on a light sandy beach, or a bird against a pale blue sky.
It's been awhile since I've had them out - my paints are most likely dry by now - but my walls are covered with my paintings.
I never attempted to sell any - but gave some away. Those I donated to the church craft sales usually sold - but not for great prices. At LAST I stopped painting and went back to creative writing which seems to be my gift.

Was never into watercolours. I prefer using acrylic and latex paints. I've painted a number of murals in churches, schools and private homes.
