For us, tenting is a break from everyday living. You know, like a holiday. When we want to stay in a house, we stay at home. We feel no compulsion to go somewhere driving or pulling a house.

I've never spent a night in a tent/teepee/bunk rustic cabin/whatever that has ever ended all that great health-wise. An RV or something similar might be better if it had an air purifier. Generally I would guess vehicles have more allergens than houses if they aren't purposefully being brought in.

I feel like I'm past the point where trying out an air purifier in an RV sounds like fun. I feel like having had bad experiences in my youth I would just be missing luxuries.
As it is, hotels aren't always all that enjoyable with crappy shower heads.

Good morning, all!! The mission resumes.
Just for the record, I prefer trailers or RVs to tents. My wife has often confessed that her idea of 'roughing it' is a motel without room service.

It's a peaceful quiet morning here. Water is heating for coffee. I need a coffee. @BethAnne I hope you feel better soon and that you are able to have a nap.

We're doing some visiting today and have been promised some nice steaks for supper. The trailer cooled off decently last night and for that I am grateful. We had some visitors over yesterday and I had to do some cooking in the trailer. It got very hot. Exhaust fans and ceiling fan helped a lot so we didn't need to turn on the A/C.

I have to rant a bit and I think there are sympathetic ears in here. As you know I'm on the road for a month. Campgrounds have sketchy Wi-Fi and of course there is little Wi-Fi from the truck. I'm using more data than usual. I've been reading about unlimited data in the US. When will we have that here? It seems that overages and data top ups might be good sources of income for the cell providers. Alas.

This endeth my rant.

Never if the big telcos have their way. They are also resisting a company that wants to offer data-only plans. The reason: Skype, Google Hangouts, WeChat, etc. Who would ever use cell minutes if they could just buy unlimited data and use those to make calls? That's what we plan to do when Little M moves to Ottawa. Since he'll have Wifi most of the time on campus, we'll just Skype him and reserve his cell minutes for emergencies and when he's off campus and needs to call a cab or something.

Have never had a problem using WiFi at camp.

Well if you are camping in the GTA that may be the case. Step outside of that region and you will find an entirely different situation. There is a big wide world outside the 416/905 bubble.

We've camped all over southern Ontario, a bit in northern Ontario, and a bit in Quebec. No problems thus far.

Gosh, I spent six summers entirely in tents There were storms. But not tent ever blew down on me. Actually, in two of those summer I slept quite often under canoes. Once, I paddled from shore were my campers were sleeping, and slept that night in the bottom of the canoe (the mosquitoes on shore were really bad.)

I've never done that kind of tripping (where you use the canoe as a shelter) but my grade 8 math teacher used to guide paddling trips for kids up in Haliburton County (we used to see them coming down our lake from time to time) and I think that's what they did.

Wonder what it would be like to sleep in a canoe?
Papers are delivered and I have a ride booked for my blood work appointment in Red Deer next month.
Now to rest!

Just one example of a campground we've stayed at that is outside the GTA is the Sault Ste Marie KOA. We stayed there on multiple occasions when our middle son was a student at Sault College. Among many other amenities, they offer Wi-Fi. http://koa.com/campgrounds/sault-ste-marie/amenities/
