You're welcome to come to ours if you like. You'd learn what life is like inside our small, conservative church. It basically boils down to - we all eat lunch, we all agree with the Senior Pastor, we all go home happy.

Our Senior Pastor encourages us to colour outside the lines and by celebrating diversity we all go home like a string on a kite having been guided into the wind.

Using your latter analogy Yjnk, our Senior Pastor holds onto his kite tightly, doing his best to guide it to where he thinks is best based on his understanding of the Bible.

I could never go to a church where I was told do this or that, I want to be encouraged to grow in faith through exploration and creativity not through dogma. Remember our old friend Al Einstein who said, "Imagination is more important than knowledge." Knowing the Bible backwards and forwards has the scenario backwards it seems to me.
