I didn't see it in that way. I saw it as a great love story between two individuals. Still do.

Ew, seeler, I can't watch that one anymore. It was charming until I understood a lot more about context.

However, I loved "The Sound of Music". Christopher Plummer has always/usually played a very well-behaved leading man.
