our health area is now green and doing police and fire as well as health care workers
MLHU seems to be doing essential workers in parallel with the 80+. Apparently we got more vaccine than your area?? We are still orange so maybe they are prioritizing areas that are in worse shape (though save yesterday, our numbers recently have been single digits).

there is no easy cure for conspiracy theories. And logic isn’t one of them.
The Russia GATES did it first ...

  • MOSCOW (AP) — Russia on Tuesday became the first country to officially register a coronavirus vaccine and declare it ready for use, despite international skepticism. President Vladimir Putin said that one of his daughters has already been inoculated.
Putin emphasized that the vaccine underwent the necessary tests and has proven efficient, offering a lasting immunity from the coronavirus. However, scientists at home and abroad have been sounding the alarm that the rush to start using the vaccine before Phase 3 trials — which normally last for months and involve thousands of people — could backfire.

Speaking at a government meeting Tuesday, Putin said that the vaccine has undergone proper testing and is safe.

“I would like to repeat that it has passed all the necessary tests,” he said. “The most important thing is to ensure full safety of using the vaccine and its efficiency.”

The Russian leader added that one of his two adult daughters has received two shots of the vaccine. “She has taken part in the experiment,” Putin said.

Putin said that his daughter had a temperature of 38 degrees Celsius (100.4 Fahrenheit) on the day of the first vaccine injection, and then it dropped to just over 37 degrees (98.6 Fahrenheit) on the following day. After the second shot she again had a slight increase in temperature, but then it was all over.

I called my pharmacy, they are not doing COVID vaccines at that location yet - otherwise wouldn't have called due to how busy they would be. If they did have COVID vaccine they would NOT give it to me due to risk. If doctor's offices don't offer them I may not even have the option to get it.

Interesting. I wonder why. Allergic reaction? Adrenalin?

my sister in law has an elderly aunt 91 , in Calgary. Lives alone. Pretty spry. She just went to her pharmacy and asked to be on the waiting list when they get vaccines. She is 15 in the list.

HAE, they cannot deal with attacks there. Allergic reactions they can, most places are prepared to deal with those.

Sounds like you need to figure this out with your doc. I am worried about my hubby with cancer, my kids with asthma. The lack of vaccines is a disaster

i hope you get this sorted out.

They won't know. If any of the clinics offer it, then they can guide me better. For now though it's AHS and pharmacies. Getting through to an AHS clinic right now seems like it would be a fair bit of frustration with no answers, so I'm not even going to try. As it was the pharmacy was bad enough? Got questions about the vaccine press 3 - this location isn't doing vaccines. Umm ok, but my pharmacist should still be able to answer questions. Then I go back to the beginning, press 3 to speak to team member ummm that was the same option as for trying to book a vaccine and sure enough it doesn't connect me to the pharmacy.

I would hope by phase 1B doctors offices are included, as that is for people with health conditions. The health conditions aren't announced yet, but my guess is one of mine would get me in that phase, but who knows if they think it will be safe enough.

If I was in your position I would contact my doctor and ask all the necessary questions. If you should be getting vaccinated your doctor should be the one to do it - maybe at a hospital. This HAE doesn't seem to be something to trifle with.

I actually don't expect an attack to happen right then though, last time I had a vaccine it happened in my sleep that night and I had another one the next day.. The liver biopsy, it happened that evening probably 8 hours after - I'm murky on the timeframe but I was at the hospital for 4 hours after and I had eaten dinner at home.
Most doctors aren't really all that familiar, I educate them. My hematologist knows more, but I don't think vaccinations will be done at the rare blood disorder clinic.

Alberta will be following NACI's advice regarding the AstraZeneca vaccine (and I assume this applies to the one from India which was approved at the same time, I forget what it's called) and using them for adults under 65. I expect some groups in phase 2 may come up earlier than anticipated because of this. Indigenous adults under 65 have likely just moved up in timeframe significantly and people with health conditions will likely follow.
Have other provinces made decisions?

I'd like to know more about phase three in BC. I'm in that group for both my health status and my age. Does my health status make me earlier in the stage or what? I suppose more will be revealed.

@Carolla - a local doctor used viagra to save the life of a family's son. There two other children had previously died. @revjohn is related to them.
I can't find the specifics, but, it definitely the case of someone thinking out of the box in a time that called for desparate measures.
That would be Dr. Jim Gowing who decided to put VIagra to the use which its creators had hoped it would be most effective in my cousin's son.

Wesley was the firstborn and would outlive both of his younger sisters who succumbed to a rare hypertensive disorder. Wesley unfortunately, died August 20, 2015. The pre-treatment damage was too extensive and yet the family was hopeful. Wesley was engaged to be married at the time. It was quite devastating to the family.

At any rate, Wesley's case and the treatment were written up for several medical journals so hopefully their ordeal will spare others from facing the same.

Imagine the extent of what we don't know ... yet some would urge us to an altered stand ...

Solution; become familiar with the unknown in a cautious and careful manner ... sometime involves watching brute powers jumping right into it ... and thus men go down to it! --- William Blake? (expect undertones)

The pandemic is not something to scoff at. Trump himself was among the first to be vaccinated. He didn’t tell anybody. If he believed it was about letting Bill Gates control the world instead of him, there’s no way he would've gotten it. And he had this on top of the antibodies he already has from having the virus. Anyway, he lied, let people believe it was either a hoax, conspiracy, or not serious, while he accepted medical evidence to the contrary, for his own good.

I also suspect BC is trying to simplify dosing scheduling and not doing different ones for the different vaccines.

If longer intervals were more effective I would think the drug companies would support it - makes the real life results look better for them.

I have mixed feelings about the longer intervals between doses. Part of me says we need to get more people vaccinated. Offering the first dose and delaying the second means more people get protection. There is apparently some research that is showing that immunity does build during that longer interval.

I am concerned that the longer interval hasn't gotten the blessing from the manufacturers.

I'm in group 3 according to my age and my health status. There is nothing (that I can see) to clarify how the health people will fit in with the age groups. Does my health status make be get the vaccine sooner than I would if only based on my age. I'm a little disappointed in the briefing from yesterday. It was supposed to spell out how vaccines would be delivered. It only spelled out phase two which is people over 80. There was minimal information about the next phases.

I think it's very hard for the provinces to give details because so much depends on what's approved for who and what we get when. When it comes to prioritizing I think it will be 1 factor only for the most part. Kenney mentioned following Israel's lead which was successful- simple and mostly age based. Complicating it makes it difficult to verify. I am very curious to see how it goes with health conditions abd if it will be honour system or what. If I were making decisions I would start with the Connect care system. Not all clinics are using it but the hospitals with better research programs were in first. That should catch more serious issues.
