I am very sorry for your friend Bette. What has happened at Roberta Place is tragic, scary horrible. I feel for all the staff who must have loved the patients, the families , the scared elderly who didn’t see family this year. Who died alone. It also sounded very rapid, which was different that the first wave deaths. This new UK variant arrived and boom. 50 dead

and now Trudeau is planning , in three weeks or so to mandate testing and quarantines. Too little too late

the Durham couple who had a guest from the f...ing UK over the Christmas holidays. I mean honestly. People are stupid stupid stupid.

I think we have to settle down for another long year. WE aren’t getting vaccines. The government did something wrong. They won’t share the contracts so we don’t know what. But errors have been made. Canada is at the bottom of the list of countries doing vaccinations. The bottom.
We are all upset about slow downs of delivery. But we were only expected to get a tiny portion of what we need. The USA vaccinate more each day than we were to get by the end of March. More each day than our total shipment in three months

one good thing about that is by June when they have done their entire country perhaps they will sell their extra to us

Can you imagine the enigma of Canada ...

Really cranks the states that tend towards tyranny ... labelling being evil ... the silence continues as we listen intuit!

The waste goes down the tubes as usual ... feeding the subtle underground and associated parti sans ... those without!

With all the delays I think for multidose vaccines we'll be seeing provinces holding on to 2nd doses more and more. Except Quebec of course. Crappy as the initial plans to not do so were reasonable IMO and worked well for a bit but there's just too much uncertainty.

Trump probably did something wrong, not Trudeau. Because Trump signed an executive order to hog the supply. Maybe Biden will change that, but with his buy American agenda (which is not too much different from Trump’s), I don’t know (I really don’t know how it works) if the supply chain will be interrupted for vaccines, too.

Actually, this looks like it could be the root of the problem, combined with the current buy American agenda in the US:

I think it was the Conservatives’ fault, in the 80s, that put us in this position now. We were set up to be unprepared to deal with a pandemic of this scale, which was always a possibility. The ability to take decisive action to develop and produce needed vaccines, into our own hands, was sold off. A short-sighted business decision thanks to Mulroney. The free market/ privatization of every-f-ing-thing really messed things up.

Actually this is what’s happening. There are delays at the manufacturing end (and if we had both R&D and manufacturing here maybe this wouldn’t be happening). It’s not Trudeau’s fault. It’s also not his fault that the US is hogging supply.

Trudeau could have been doing more 10 months ago to help with local vaccine production. I'm also annoyed with lack of foresight in general when it comes to essentials and relying on only a few other countries when we could be doing more to secure our own supply.

Our problems are not the fault of trump. Our problems are trudeaus. Clearly

it was Trudeau who disbanded a pandemic warning group. Respected world wide
it was Trudeau who replaced scientists with non scientists at the top of health canada
it was Trudeau who allowed theve civil servants to represent Canada at pandemic planning meetings
it was Trudeau who put a health minister in place with no medical or public health background
it was Trudeau who decided to put all our eggs in the Cansino basket
it was Trudeau who shipped our PPE to China in February leaving hospitals and LTC without
it was Trudeau who agreed masks won’t help
it was Trudeau who didn’t either buy or pay for vaccines to get them here. Because he hasn’t released and contracts we have no idea what that mistake actually is
it was Trudeau who decided that closing airport borders was a mistake in March and all year until now
it was Trudeau who has led our response to a ranking of 61/80 industrialized countries
it is under trudeau that almost 20,000 Canadians have died. Primarily elderly in LTC.
it was Trudeau who has not come up with a plan
it was Trudeau who ignored a viable Montreal company to rebuild a factory that will be retooled next year
it was Trudeau who ignored other Canadian companies while trying to get a Chinese project going
it was Trudeau who installed a procurement minister who is brand new. Seems very nice. Has no experience at international relations
it was Trudeau who has been unable to get a National response throughworking with his provinces

you can honestly go on and on

yes Americans are buying vaccines. So is every other country in the world. And Americans are struggling too with the logistics of this. But Trudeau wears this.

In the domain of people that depend on grand emotional power ... there is a deficiency of intelligence ... face it ... intellectual phantoms follow up the R'cis ...

Those close to the foregoing powers ... depend on flattery to sustain the hubris ... thus the mess in chaos of esteem ...

Dear anti-vaxxers,

You have every right to not get the shot. It's your funeral.

You absolutely do not have the right to stop people who want the shot from getting it.

They should have been hauled off in cuffs, not for being anti-vax but for disrupting a critical public service.

It was at a fire department. I would have gotten the pumper truck out, one warning , a count down and otherwise you get wet.
What I don’t quite get is those drive through vac sites. That works well with testing, but vaccinated people need to be monitored for at least 15 minutes. How do they do that with people in cars?

I find the monitoring in general is lax for all vaccinations. I think they often expect you/the person next to you to holler if there's a problem.

Per my s-i-l who told me about the experience of her first shot, the monitoring was exceptional. Well done, in fact.
This is in ontario.
I think in general this will be watched more closely especially until it hits the general public but the car aspect wouldn't be more lax than the norm. Even with the ticks I have checked off the only time I felt like I got good post vaccine monitoring was the tetanus one. There have even been times where I mentioned the time that had passed and I would be leaving and I got a surprised you're still here? People usually leave after a few minutes.

Lastpointe, I'm really not sure where you get your information, or why you have such a hate on for our current government.

I mean, if you want to flip it, it was trudeau that kept our numbers significantly less than that in US and many other countries based on population.

Yet, i won't do that. you see, I don't believe it.

This situation is not an item that anyone knew exactly what was going on when it hit.
The teams that are pulling together information are working under stress and trials.
Although you name Trudeau, I wonder if you mean his cabinet, his decision makers, the government as a whole?

Seriously, now is the time for us to dig in and help.
The time for potshots, is when you can get real information about what was going on, and to be honest, focussing on that in the midst of a crisis, is generally not a great idea. Figuring out how to move forward, yup -- that's good. Throwing people under the bus for decisions made under the pressure of time, or even two years previously, well, not sure how that adds value at this time.

If you feel that there are serious failures in government, and feel we should be educated, i am happy to read them.
I found this one, for the first that you shared, but, i only did a cursory look

Human imperfections ... the crack in godly perfections as abstracted in the dark place between hear organs ... 'ears?

I can’t say that for my hospital. The vaccination was well organized. A large chair spaced out supervised wait area after the shot and the one giving the vac wrote the time on your paper until when you have to sit there, whichyou also had to show when you were leaving. People with disinfectant at the entrance and exit. Ran very smoothly.

i mean Trudeau because he is in charge. The guy or gal at the top wears the decisions. Has to

did others advise him? Sure. But he still wears the decisions. You know. The buck stops here.

everything I said has happened. There is no research involved. Just things that have happened under his watch

to be ranked 61/80 countries for our pandemic response is not good

I started a thread about the stats re various countries (including Canada's) response, as I think it is a good dialogue.
I am sorry for taking this one re the vaccines off-track.

@Mrs.Anteater -- thanks, that sounds a lot like the process setup here. My s-i-l is a nurse and i am sure like you, was really looking at the process and controls implemented.
