Covid 19 Vaccine

What is going on with our vaccinations though. I see the EU is doing a massive rollout. We have seen pics from various countries. I ‘w my own relatives have appointments. But suddenly the news from Canada is quiet? I can’t even find any news items showing how many are due to get vaccinated this week.

the little 250,000 does they got seems to have just stopped the questions. Can anyone find any info?

Ontario is behind on even distributing those. The vaccination centers closed for Christmas due to staffing and even yesterday apparently only 5 were open. Something like 18,000 in Ontario so far. I will around and try to relocate the article.

Correction. Found an article that said provinces are having trouble administering doses. Staffing. Honestly we waited till now?

and gee by end of March Canada should have 6million doses. So 3 million people will be vaccinated by the end of March. 10% of us. What on earth! A long way from the 70% we need to get back to normal

One fifth of the population is under 14 years of age ... so far they are safe from vaccination.

Then you have the 1 in 7? that would refuse the vaccination even if it were available to them.

Then you have the population that could not safely take the vaccination whether they wanted it or not.

0.1% of us. What on earth!

Don't worry be happy ... your odds for those of 'us' that actually want it are improving.

Catching up on the update today. Just Kenney and Shandro, no Hinshaw. So far it's blah blah these are all the things we did, please increase your satisfaction with our response.

With the immunization though I am confused, here they had announced they would not be holding back the 2nd doses, they would wait for more to come for those instead. But AHS policy required them to be help for the 2nd doses. Doesn't the government dictate AHS policy?

Apparently Moderna is starting to arrive. Ontario is supposed to get a batch tomorrow.

Umm what?

Why is this person even being given a platform to ask this? Maybe I'm missing something, but I don't see anything to suggest he has research medical nor a science background to look at the data to suggest this would be reasonable to do.

I refuse to get excited about the future vaccination. My guess is about mid to late summer!

Sure wish my family weren't in the thick of the 'rampant area' in the UK! At least the one who lives in Dover doesn't have to navigate around lorries anymore. Saw a news article about the local Sikhs providing HOT and delicious meals to truck drivers.

I'll feel better when all healthcare workers have had the ability to get it though. Even with just getting bloodwork done at the hospital, it would make that feel safer for me.

I found this very strange too.......this needs further looking into and I hope reporters press hard on this.
I think they better count the vials.......

Yeah, he's supposed to be in charge of the logistics, not the medical stuff.

BC is taking a variation of this approach. They are not going to withhold the second dose for those who get the vaccine now. The idea is to get as many people at least partially immunized as possible. They are also more confident in the supply chain and expect to give the second shot later without issue.

That's not a variation of what he's suggesting. That's the same as what Alberta said they would do and then claimed AHS wasn't allowing for them to all be used.

Hillier is saying to give 2x the amount as recommended for the first dose and then not give the 2nd. He's specifically speaking about the Moderna one I'm assuming as that's the one that will be going to remote areas - basically he is proposing to do half the amount of work in the end (minus the setup in general).

If it were this simple the recommendation wouldn't be 2 injections weeks apart. Those developing the vaccines are well aware of the extra work and time 2 injections involve. He may as well have recommended we get people to take the vaccines orally instead of via IM - again with drug design those involved are well aware oral meds are easier for the public then injected. I'm disappointed CTV threw this up as the top story it just shouldn't have gotten acknowledged or if it was with 2 sides the other explaining why 2x the dose isn't anywhere close to 2 doses weeks apart.

I missed that part. I understand wanting to make things more efficient and him asking about the feasibility of doing this. He needs to shut up about it and not be airing this dumb idea in public.
