CARNEY - Some people think......... How do you feel?

Here's the big difference, I think. Musk and Trump aren't just cutting DEI in the federal government, they are effectively trying to ban it with their threats against corporations and educational institutions who implement it. If Carney was, for instance, actively refusing to fund research at universities that have DEI programs, that would be more analogous to the US situation and would likely get a louder outcry, too.
True. Yet, not having a disability focused ministry weakens oversight for programs in all kinds of institutions and there won’t be an outcry because it’ll just kind of slowly and quietly erode without any fuss. That’s already happening, this just makes it worse. Polite Canadian fascism? Maybe too strong a word but if it has the same effect over time, coupled with loose MAiD legislation, it’s not a stretch. If he addresses all of those concerns soon maybe that can be avoided.

It will also affect oversight and implementation of things like this that are part of an overall disability strategy umbrella - but quietly because the general public doesn’t hear about these things and a minister responsible for disability issues is that voice that was already not loud enough.

I posit that, similar to Mark Carney and his positions on fossil fuels, alberta, his carbon tax and similar things that if he did that there would be less outcry here in Canada from the usual suspects

I have been noticing patterns, that people who follow a tribal Leader tend to.be more flexible than if they aren't their tribal.leader...

And these switches can happen quite relatively quickly...

Again, it seems beliefs have us rather than the other way around...

Also DIE in Canada wasn't as ubiquitous as in USA...

And look on the bright side, USA gov't is into government interference even more now ;3

I always wonder who is writing this script.we are living in

One of my new friends said she feels like she is in a comic book...

And so it goes

Blessings for all

On some specific things he’s actually doing domestically - rather than just saying “Seems like a nice guy who is a better diplomat than Trump” - I feel disappointed and distrustful already. I voted Green knowing they weren’t going to win big in this one but I did so because of reservations about Carney - about how much he wasn’t saying - he was presenting a more reasonable image abroad but he left out a whole bunch of people’s issues at home. And he’s a corporatist, and free market capitalist. People who normally are critical of such things - like ndp voters usually are - went all in for him because his personality is better than Trump’s and Pollievre’s, and the election was called without time for others to catch up and surpass Carney fever. I understand the imperative was to beat the conservatives but issues went out the window, too.

He’s also hawkish, building up the military. I guess he feels he has to, to show strength in the face of Trump’s threats but it’s a more nationalistic, militaristic tone than I’m comfortable with. It feels like he’s Churchill or something. Maybe that’s comforting to the mainstream but not to those who are made especially more vulnerable by the ramping up of warlike rhetoric - economic or otherwise. Well off people are more insulated from the effects - they’ll be the last to really feel them. Meanwhile disabled people already are.

Interview with economist Ian Lee
"

escription

Mark Carney has already started seriously harming the economy

Toronto Sun

"He won last month’s election for the Liberals promising he had a plan to protect Canada’s economy from the predations of the American president. But since returning to Ottawa, Prime Minister Mark Carney has sent alarming signals to business and scaring off badly needed capital investment, as economist and professor Ian Lee tells Brian this week. The Liberal government’s decision to avoid tabling a budget makes it seem like there actually is no plan, Lee says. Meanwhile, comments from Carney’s cabinet that they’re wavering on a new oil export pipeline suggest that the country will be just as unwelcoming to resource development as the last one. Now, it’s looking like the man elected to reverse Canada’s long-running decline might just instead make it worse. (Recorded May 16, 2025)"

Disabled people are persona non grata at the political table and that has repercussions for us on a day to day level - starts to affect how we are perceived and treated. And maybe some will shrug their shoulders but as signatories to the UNCRPD Canada has obligations to uphold. There are reasons for that. These are the reasons. If he doesn’t reinstate a disability ministry then Canada is not being honest. Disability touches everyone’s life at some point so it doesn’t do anyone any good to ignore these concerns. I don’t feel confident that he’s planning to help all Canadians get through the next four years.

On a personal level he’s probably very much like he comes across to us. There wasn’t anything particularly threatening to us about his demeanour so people jumped on the bandwagon with little hesitation. But as a national leader, I’m now quite worried about some of his choices.

When there is no wiggle room in the economy is the living part disposed of? Is that human or inhumanity and you cannot observe this from withing ... thus we back off!

It is rather like that conflict around being part and being standoffish ... we are not sure about either so the steady state condition is difficult and you just sit there and chi*mir ... like dust on the move ... Stardust resonates ... psyche-like ... the mind is a hummer some even say thoughts stink! If there is a chance ... that's quantum ...

Can a quantum barrier be crossed ... imagine the doubts and worries about that! Like if God is wise ... would we fear to go there ... especially if you had great will to know not? Thus many are befuddled ...

Mores to look into once getting over the ET'IC! Upstanding eh? Out in a field of his Onan ... possessed by question! Unanswerable if you dismissed the question ... downright intangible ... think of all those that cannot listen because of immutability! It just doesn't ring true ... pure poetics ... off on their own pole ... skewered?

The self-shafting stake out ... wooden peg? Could be Pinocchio's Nose ... man on a string ... connections!

As someone who spent a good part of his life as a guy who prints the money - approving that process - he knows how to make wiggle room if he wants to. He’ll put us into deficit to make war machines - but he should put resources into helping the least well off. He’s Catholic, too. He knows what he should be doing. Let’s hope he does it.

If one lives in a pool of corruption and where the lies fell as drawn up ... is it logical that if you come here some rubs off unconsciously?

Some things just must be returned ... a theme of Newton and the Golden Rule! Alternately the lie fattens and implodes ... because?

There's nothing to wit ... thus the wit hoot ... and there are plenty of that due to avarice ... and Avatars of things out there ... chimeral?

What is a chimeral bond? Bless the dan's ... he spoke to the Light in the tree as Nic Kode Mus! Kode 'd ... prepare for the great folly ... its occurring as occupying our space ... burning demiurge? Threatening? It may be more than that ... a grand apocalyptic awakening? Done, WOKE ...

Evil is among us and you must deal with it ... get we're directed not to ... be kind to evil and what does it do? Guess ...

So now Carney wants to join Trump to build a Golden Dome, ala Israel I presume?
Except, our country is extremely bigger than Israel and we can be pretty well assured that Trump won't follow through with his side of the "bargain" right? And Trump is so whacked, he probably wants us to build them so the US just has to walk in and turn them on us....
Why is Carney even willing to pair himself with the USA for National defense? At least now while the two faced monster is still president? And the defence minister is an inexperienced whack job too?
Big mistake IMO.

Has that ever been confirmed by anyone in Ottawa, though? The only place I heard that was from Trump and we know how he tends to exaggerate and get ahead of himself. Golden Dome is a freaking joke, though. It's Reagan's "Star Wars" all over again. No way Canada should be committing money to it. Most likely it never happens given it will take a lot more than one presidential term to get it in place.

He is in talks with trump about it and says he's considering it.

I think he probably has to just to keep Trump engaged in other talks. And realistically, they could quite possibly be shooting the missiles down over our soil so it behooves us to be involved. If we are "under the dome" then the Americans have to position things so that interceptions happen over the Arctic or one of the oceans rather than in our airspace. Also, NORAD is an obvious command and control centre for such a system. So I kind of get us at least exploring it, but I am also fairly convinced it'll be another classic Pentagon white elephant.

Not sure I'd want the country that can barely monitor it's commercial planes, hovering ABMs over our heads. Who owns the air space above Canada?
I do not think Trump will hold another election.....look what he's getting away with now.....hope I'm wrong about that....but everyone is scared of him or overly enamored.

Here's the thing, the President does not hold elections, the nation does. They are guaranteed in the Constitution. He needs to find a way around that. I'm betting he tries to maneuver a puppet into power for the next election (maybe J.D. though Trump has a history of alienating vice presidents) rather than trying to run again himself. Kind of like Putin did with his buddy Medvedev. Putin became PM for a term with Medvedev as President, thereby ensuring Putin didn't serve consecutive terms, which was the issue he faced under their constitution.

Hey well when you listen how they define Habeas Corpus, I'm sure they'll figure out how to redefine the Constitution to suit themselves.

Realize that determinate people can redefine anything they feel is their right and they will remain in place as "blind watchmakers" as they can't see what can happen ... WOKE is dangerous ... thus we sleep longer and longer until something becomes permanent and stoned in place. Power can often fix a psyche into rigid situations ... these can be complex crystalline entities ... hard to cut! Myths??? Anything is potential when you cannot see what's coming down the tracks ... worry? Why should we when the watch elects deficiencies ...
