True. Yet, not having a disability focused ministry weakens oversight for programs in all kinds of institutions and there won’t be an outcry because it’ll just kind of slowly and quietly erode without any fuss. That’s already happening, this just makes it worse. Polite Canadian fascism? Maybe too strong a word but if it has the same effect over time, coupled with loose MAiD legislation, it’s not a stretch. If he addresses all of those concerns soon maybe that can be avoided.Here's the big difference, I think. Musk and Trump aren't just cutting DEI in the federal government, they are effectively trying to ban it with their threats against corporations and educational institutions who implement it. If Carney was, for instance, actively refusing to fund research at universities that have DEI programs, that would be more analogous to the US situation and would likely get a louder outcry, too.
