todays scripture --
Luke 7:36-50 (GNT)
Jesus at the Home of Simon the Pharisee
36 A Pharisee invited Jesus to have dinner with him, and Jesus went to his house and sat down to eat. 37 A)'>In that town was a woman who lived a sinful life. She heard that Jesus was eating in the Pharisee's house, so she brought an alabaster jar full of perfume 38 and stood behind Jesus, by his feet, crying and wetting his feet with her tears. Then she dried his feet with her hair, kissed them, and poured the perfume on them. 39 When the Pharisee saw this, he said to himself, “If this man really were a prophet, he would know who this woman is who is touching him; he would know what kind of sinful life she lives!”
40 Jesus spoke up and said to him, “Simon, I have something to tell you.”
“Yes, Teacher,” he said, “tell me.”
41 “There were two men who owed money to a moneylender,” Jesus began. “One owed him five hundred silver coins, and the other owed him fifty. 42 Neither of them could pay him back, so he canceled the debts of both. Which one, then, will love him more?”
43 “I suppose,” answered Simon, “that it would be the one who was forgiven more.”
“You are right,” said Jesus. 44 Then he turned to the woman and said to Simon, “Do you see this woman? I came into your home, and you gave me no water for my feet, but she has washed my feet with her tears and dried them with her hair. 45 You did not welcome me with a kiss, but she has not stopped kissing my feet since I came. 46 You provided no olive oil for my head, but she has covered my feet with perfume. 47 I tell you, then, the great love she has shown proves that her many sins have been forgiven. But whoever has been forgiven little shows only a little love.”
48 Then Jesus said to the woman, “Your sins are forgiven.”
49 The others sitting at the table began to say to themselves, “Who is this, who even forgives sins?”
50 But Jesus said to the woman, “Your faith has saved you; go in peace.”
unsafe says -----This first part is such a great testimony to show us that Jesus ---God Agapes all His Creation --with all our baggage and all our flaws ---no one is left out of God's Love absolutely no one -----it is us who have pulled away from God's Love -----
And it shows us the Love --Faith ---Reverence - Emotional Compassion -- Humbleness and Submission that this woman felt toward Jesus -----
unsafe says ---We Humans especially People who call themselves Christians should be as passionate for Jesus as this sinful woman is in this Scripture ------He is our Saviour ---our Redeemer -----without Jesus we are like filthy rags according to Isaiah 64 ---
We see the Pharisee who is a Religious Leader invites Jesus to his house -----and the woman hears that Jesus is there and goes specifically to see Jesus and she takes expensive oil with her -----she kneels at His feet ----and she is crying -----her tears show us just being in the presents of Jesus was very emotional for her ---she couldn't contain her reverence her gratefulness just to be in the same room with Him -----She demonstrates her Love and Submission to Him by her kneeling at His Feet -----she wipers her tears from His Feet with her hair -----how humble is that ----she kisses His feet -----such compassion shown here -----
unsafe says ------By her doing this of course we have the Religious Leader bringing
his unbelief of Jesus being a Prophet to surface
-----
39 The Pharisee who had invited Jesus saw this and thought, “If this man really were a prophet, he would know what sort of woman is touching him. She’s a sinner.”
All the Pharisees saw about the woman was her sin ---All Jesus saw was her Faith and Love for Him --she believed He was more than a Prophet ----
unsafe says ----this is the same for many today in their unbelief in who Jesus really is --- is still very much alive today ----Many Religions do not believe Jesus Is God or the Son of God -----Nor do they believe that God's Word is God Breathed ----the Bible is only a bunch of myth stories for some Religions -----
unsafe says ---We see Jesus telling the Pharisee His illustration of the 2 debtors -----and forgiveness ------and Jesus forgives the woman's sins because of her Faith In Him ------ the men argue about who does Jesus think He is that He can forgive sins ------again showing their disbelief and hardened hearts and arrogance toward Jesus -----
We see Jesus healing the physical body of many people -----but Physical healing will still give way to Death of the Body eventually ------Spiritual Healing which brings the forgiveness of our sins and this healing is eternal ------
The Pharisees were mixed up in their thinking -----their compassion was in keeping the law and making their own rules and traditions --they were Spiritually Blind and many remain like the Pharisees today ------it is Sad but True -----
