If it doesn't get as much sun as it likes, move it, Carolla, if you've got room somewhere sunny. In my experience, doesn't mind being moved. In fact, you can heap an enormous amount of abuse on a bit of rhubarb root without killing it, it seems. I've heard stories of exposed roots in planters with no soil, buried in snow all winter.
 
A neighbour tried to kill a rhubarb plant for three years and then admitted defeat. He dug it up, he lit a trash fire on it, he dug it up, he used weed killer on it, he dug it up, he placed sod over it - today it is still flourishing!
 
Our rhubarb is doing great. An elderly man knocked at the door a few days ago to ask if he could pick a bit for his wife (her favourite fruit). I said 'yes, help yourself'. He returned the next day with a rhubarb pie for us. :) Yesterday a lady showed up and asked if she could pick some in exchange for some butter tarts. If this keeps up we won't be able to pull our pants up!;)

tonight my personal chef made some stewed rhubarb with ginger ... new combo & it was tasty!

Bette, I moved my poor little rhubarb plant once ... but still not enough sun. A lot of trees have been cut down in my neighbourhood this spring (emerald ash borer, sadly) so I'll have to watch & see if sun/shade patterns change this year. Meanwhile, my neighbours all have lots to share for which I'm immensely grateful!
 
hey - I haven't heard a reference to 'blueberry grunt' for a long time! My ancestors are from Nova Scotia, where the term 'grunt' is common - always made us kids laugh hysterically when our grandma would use the term. :ROFLMAO:
 
It's a po'boy term for when it's passed ... gravid ... imagine the ancient meaning of "Passover" ... alas I said imagine ... something related to mental perceptions and I'm told there in no such existence for the mind ... it is shelved or out of here and now ... an ancient explicit that we lost?

Where do all these old words go when abused ... down the pitz? Can you imagine people projecting an image of a mind as a hole in a hard space ... and then coming to the conclusion that atoms are only 1/10*15 power particulates in an energetic field? Astronomically small reversions of scales ...

In such ranges you can almost see the bits of God as humble little specks that bug all larger constructs like humanoids ... with internal flashes on collisions with obstinately fixed substance ... thus the Celtic spirituality about Eire thoughts! Phoneticized at times as hairy encounters in cloud chambers ...

I looked closely at a feverfew plant today, and it was almost looking like thinking of springing to life. Ed Lawrence on the Gardening show on Monday, CBC Radio 1, had a caller who said her clematis was showing signs of life. Disturbing patterns. And I know we had a year virtually without snow 3-5 years ago, but growing up in this area, I do not remember a year that the lake didn't freeze in December, that we didn't have several feet by Christmas.
 
Our tulips once came out after Christmas ... and then were nothing but a frieze ... carved in icis?

Are you nuts? I have a toque (called a 'beanie' by Americans I just learned), scarf, and down jacket and boots on today (we live in the same general region)! During the day is mild enough, I could unzip my jacket but, it's been damp and drizzly, and at night it cools off fast. Granted, also, I could do without the toque but I'm having a bad hair day. Not shorts and t-shirt weather quite yet. You remind me of an old friend I used to work with, who's from Winnipeg, who wore shorts and t's all year, even if we got some snow. He said it was balmy and Vancouverites are whimps.

Our bay froze over for the winter (till late March/early April anyway) last week. My daughter has been getting a fairly excellent amount of shovelling exercise.

Like a brazil nut (but no waxing...eeep!)

For some reason it feels springlike here -- though it is still very humid, there is no wind & no rain today in canada's only maritime Mediterranean climate
I used to be a kind of groundhog where locals would be able to see when Winter was coming by watching my hemline drop, but I haven't been like that for years now (creaky old bones...creaky old cough could wheeze ack).

It problably (hopefully) won't last -- Winter needs to be coldish & wet :3
(tho I still can't get used to nearly 100% humidity and NO RAIN???)

If the local trees start budding in Feb, I know it'll be another friggin flesh&mind melting summer...

It drizzled here a few hours ago, here in the city - I missed it but I could tell because the ground, and handrails outside were wet. The sky is dark grey and looks like rain could burst out any moment. Maybe less so where you are @Inannawhimsey ...it didn't scream "spring day" to me today, although I may be slightly warmly dressed. I'd rather be overdressed than shivering, though. The damp can go right through to your bones. :)
