Like the sarcasm there inannawhimsy. Just wait a few years until the DSM stops classifying it as a mental dysfunction. Remember the DSM classified homosexuality as a mental dysfunction until the late 70s!
chansen .... LOL .......... you should know that religions have to be dragged along like a spoiled child in the middle of a temper tantrum.
In a curious way ...... religion needs us for moral guidance........
Now that is something to mull over.... (and yes I am and yes I see the personal irony in that)
Regards
Rita
How many religions were ahead of the DSM in accepting homosexuality as not a dysfunction and not in need of curing or prayer or some form of intervention?
That's irrelevant to discussions of the DSM.

This is great to hear RitaTG - and somehow I anticipate you'll be a presence in that course, if not already! Here in Sudbury we have a fresh new initiative with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine and the Northeastern Local Health Integration Network (big government funding body) that is addressing transgender health care on a number of fronts.
The medical school is preparing to implement the most comprehensive LGBT care training of any medical school in Canada.
And it starts this fall......
Amazing what can happen we reach out in a positive way!
Hugs

"The word god is for me nothing more than the expression and product of human weaknesses, the Bible a collection of honourable, but still primitive legends which are nevertheless pretty childish. No interpretation no matter how subtle can (for me) change this.""religion without science is blind, science without religion is lame", said a Relative Guy
This thread isn't about the DSM. You brought the DSM into a thread about Catholic schools accepting the expressed gender of their students. If you can do that, then I can relate it back to religion. That's irrelevant to discussions of the DSM.

So, I ask again: How many religions were ahead of the DSM in accepting homosexuality as not a dysfunction and not in need of curing or prayer or some form of intervention?

Is that not most bewildering and unfortunate?????How many religions have totally accepted that as truth? None that I can think of.
