A franchise I might be able to get behind. With the success of the 2014 Godzilla remake, Legendary Pictures and Warner are teaming up to create a Godzilla-King Kong shared universe. As an old kaiju (Japanese monster movie) fan, I approve. Right now, their plans are for 3 movies (plus the 2014 Godzilla):

Kong : Skull Island (in production, basically a re-imagining of King Kong, not another remake like Jackson's was)
Godzilla 2 (will be Gareth Edwards', who directed Godzilla, next movie after the Star Wars movie he's doing)
Kong vs. Godzilla (announced but not much happening yet since the other two have to happen first).

Add in the fact that early discussions of Godzilla 2 suggested other classic kaiju (Mothra, Ghidorah) could be in it and this seems like a potentially fun series. Or a total f-ing disaster. But I'll cross my fingers for the former.

I'm in. I enjoyed Godzilla while sitting in a D-Box seat. Loved it.

Is a kong like a gong to the head when considering all the swapped symbols from one script tradition to another ... from "c" to "g"?

The bulk of humanity hasn't done sufficient etude of iconographies to know this ... and thus the icons are not well burnt into the dark spot between the ears ...

This happens when stardust lands there ... light particles after a flight of abstract nature ... through de void? Where did this particles come from ... out there?

I live in a small town with limited movie options. I just loved "Bridge of Spies," liked "The Martian," and loathed "007: Spectre." How do you feel about these 3 movies? Some Christians have raved about the Christian movie 'The War Room," but I haven't seen it. Have any of you? If so, what do yOu think?

Haven't heard of The War Room (this one, there's another by the same title about the Bill Clinton election campaign) until now but I don't exactly follow the Christian publishing and movie scenes so tend to only hear about ones like Left Behind that get out into broader popular culture.

You are the second person I've heard praise "Bridge of Spies" so I'll put on my list though, like most movies, I will likely wait for it to hit streaming. Just don't get out to theaters much anymore for a variety of reasons. Will try to see The Force Awakens in theaters but even that's not certain depending on how busy our holiday season gets.

The 33 ...
Is that a story on adepts or what?

Some would call it deep minor trend and others would say a pit eh that we couldn't ignore them as subtle or less that the haute couture ... co per nick us?

Absolutely loved Bridge of Spies. Tom Hanks must be movie gold.

The Martian was kind of meh. I found it a tad formulaic.

Haven't seen Spectre yet. I don't think I have paid to go and see any Bond film (with the exception of Connery's reprise, "Never Say Never Again"). Connery was my favourite Bond though I have to admit Daniel Craig has probably surpassed him. I suspect that has more to do with advancements to the action genre of film more than acting.

I saw every Bond from The Spy Who Loved Me to License to Kill in theatres and the ones before Spy... on video, then stopped. Saw Goldeneye on video and have kind been stalled there since. Good intentions about getting back with it (and have access to the Brosnan films on DVD) but never quite get there. I'm giving SPECTRE a pass simply because I haven't seen the other three Craig movies and it apparently ties them all together. Connery has long been my favorite Bond as well, though I also like Dalton and wish we'd had more of his Bond than Brosnan's (even though I was a champion of Brosnan for the role when he was first talked about as a replacement for Moore).

You can't beat Spectre for special effects in Bond movies. But even by Bond standards, the coincidences are absurdly improbable and the logic of the flow of events is dreadfully confusing. I was constantly asking myself, "Why are we here and how does this link with what just happened?" Also, Bond waltzes into Spectre headquarters with his babe, tells Blofelt he intends to kill him, and then escapes, when Blofelt ties him to a torture machine, and Bond uses his 007 watch to escape. In Bond movies I often ask, "Why don't the bad guys just shoot him?" Puleeeese!

"Bridge of Spies" is basically the true story of the exchange of U-2 pilot Gary Powers during the cold war. The exchanged elderly Russian spy's performance is probably the best understated acting performance I have ever seen and has Oscar buzz/

P.S. I can't wait for the new Wonder Woman mpvie.

I saw "Mockingjay: The Hunger Games" on Friday and was disappointed. I haven't seen the other movies in this series and this movie took too much for granted for newbies to the series. And the last part was so cheesy; I hated the ending.

Did you see the new picture of Gal Gadot as Diana? If nothing else, they've nailed it with the casting.

Even people who have seen the whole series were disappointed from what I'm hearing. Most of the reviews say that they messed up by splitting the last book as they did. Should have stuck to a trilogy.

Personally, I read the first book (it's on our Kobo account from when Little M read the series) and liked it but have not watched the movies or gone further.

Haven't chosen my birthday movie yet for 2016. I'm thinking I might choose SWTFA, or Peanuts if it's still in the theaters.

I'd go with the Force myself. I like Peanuts but not enough to pay the usurious prices theatres charge these days.

Wow. After years of talk, they've finally filmed a sequel to Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon. And the studio is ... Netflix! Yep, it's going to run simultaneously in IMAX theatres and on Netflix streaming.

It looks promising. The director was fight choreographer on the original and many other movies (including the Matrix trilogy) and Michelle Yeoh is reprising her role from the original. Crouching Tiger... was based on the fourth book in a five book series so their is plenty of material for additional films. This one is based on the fifth book, so we could get up to 3 prequels if this works out.

Has anyone here seen "Polycarp: Destroyer of Gods?" It is directed by a 19-year-old and his youth shows. Quite amateurish! Polycarp, "a hearer of John." is the most famous post-NT martyr and his integrity and that of his fellow Christians are deeply moving. I showed the movie at our monthly potluck dinner and movie night in my church and it had a powerful impact on the many visitors. btw. some scholars argue that Polycarp of Smyrna played a major role in putting together the books of our NT! .
