so here we are

rocketed through winter (not much of one), breezed through spring
and now we're in SUMMER
salmonberries festooning the bushes, relentless sun, huckleberries brightening up the green, people sleeping in deep forests, high humidity & temperatures...so i wonder (and shudder) what will OFFICIAL SUMMER be like?

as usual, let this be a thread for our experiences of this summer we're having (in some parts of our world)

I am partial to the "in-between" seasons of Spring and Fall. Can be a bit wet here in Southern Ontario but not (or at least rarely) either too hot or too cold. I would give a slight edge to Fall if I had to narrow it down to one, though Spring has the advantage of containing my birthday. :D

what's a typical summer like there, in your experience?

It varies, but we get a lot of muggy summers around here. Temps in the high twenties or low thirties with high humidity which makes me absolutely miserable. I can take 25 degrees or so dry but with humidity, it probably drops to around 20. Heat and humidity bother me more than cold to be honest.

Time for all seasons thus we can deplore the pickle we are in ... or did no one acquire that apocalyptic impulse? Thus while in state of mind ... how would you be known and thus become nothing ... the pathe of how ID goes and IT comes as in that Templar Wildwood ...

looks like we're Toronto here then -- breaking temp highs & still the same high humidity = ick

walking through a forest and it feeling like a tropical jungle where i'm drinking the air

A lovely spring and early summer. Have cycled over 1200 kms so far and still early June. At this rate I'll wear my bicycle out by October. :):)

My son seems to be adopting cycling as his summer sport (downhill skiing is his winter sport). He currently uses my bike (well, it was bought by me for myself originally) but is starting to shop for a good road bike (mine's just a decent hybrid).

Dancing on de sun ... a kohl lass that can take the heat? This is known in alchemii as entropy ... a very Black-Holish sort of conjecture ... no bottom to the pool we float in?

Sort of hot Eire balloons that spread seed on de bus-tables ... them bussing, as at a country faerie, some flighty thing ?

Eternal summer.

Ugh. An eternity of Southern Ontario summer would likely constitute one of the nastier circles of Hell. Had to put the air on yesterday. Not hot (low twenties) but the humidity was above 80%. (and it's only June, imagine the same humidity in July when it will be combined with temps in the 27-30 range). There was condensation on the taps in our bathroom one time when I went in.

Really, I'm probably best suited to a fairly moderate, mile (but not hot), dry climate with just enough rain to keep things green. Give me an eternity of whatever season that is.

more signs of Summer:

whilst swimming off Rattlesnake Point and trying to get over my newfound fear of heights, being warren buffeted by 1 m swells & admiring (and envying) my brother's fitness to swim through these swells. gusts of up to 50 km. watching 4 boys, during an intense gust (where the wind is blowing so hard it sounds like when a recording mike is fuzzing out in the wind), standing on the edge of a higher cliff, pondering should they jump into the glorious tropical-lapis lazuli Kal lake waters? playing catch with two strange dogs; when their bottle is lost, i dive in and guide them to it, laughing at their little feet paddling under the waves. seeing brown smoke & haze and then smelling it (that evening, a spectacular sunset) -- turns out it was from a Lytton fire -- that's some 300 km away

yes, you can drink that water

walking from my brother's place to Middleton mountain, guided by Hermann's suggestions. i clamber onto a well-made trail, then a smaller trail, then a goat trail, down which schoolkids scamper. my heart pounds. i take lots of pictures of the valley & lake & mountains below. i eventually get to Hermann's house and spend a few hours there just talking (and getting treated to some nummy avocado-ham sammiches & a signed copy of one of his books, Non Nobis, Domine: The Biography of the Knight Templar Arminius von Welterod -- @Neo, I think this book might be up your aisle) -- two very hospitable & generous people they are -- their minds & souls are on fire :3 @Tabitha, you should meet them sometime :3

be patient enough, and one might see a unicorn

playing bocce (where angels obviously play -- the balls are so brightly coloured) @ Sovereign park, right by the most beautiful lake on Earth...

seeing coveys of the road warrior bird, quail, with their little uns EVERYWHERE -- and yes, they can fly

two birds enter, 7 birds leave my foot!

watching my brothers cacti bloom, bright flowers & one of his cacti patches that hasn't bloomed at all since he moved in finally did bloom -- a lone yellow flower

Ca cti bloom? Like Paul's pain in the side on the way ... possibly the bottom side as a way to get heh bouncing?

Which side is not specified in the rendered bible about the fabric of pall ... some questioning and denouement required ...
