@ChemGal I wanted to try it first
I used 8 cobs of corn
Boil corn on the cob-I broke the cobs in 1/2
In another pot Combine 1/3 cup butter, 1/3 cup sweet chili sauce*, some pepper and fresh rosemary. Heat until butter melts. add 1/2 cup of crumbled feta cheese
Toss the cooked corn in the sauce and serve.
It was yummy!
*sweet chili sauce is available in the asian food aisle

good morning folks. Had a lovely time with 3 of the euchre women at my house last night. We played two games and they were close. Had strawbarry daiquiries, including making a virgin one. The one friend offered to have it at her house in July, and it sounded like a great plan. For snacks we had some lovely cheese one friend brought, then, some grapes and strawberries sitting on the table. The conversation just rolled. Lots to catch up on from the month, and then fun stories of names and how we got our names. It was a lovey night, with people arriving at 7:30 and gone by 10pm. @Carolla , not exactly what yours is, but, you know, it is ok. We are enjoying each others company once / month.

Today , I am relaxing, tomorrow is with Dad.

Had a bit of excitement this weekend, an early Father's Day gift of a sort I suppose. We decided a few weeks ago that it was time to look into a replacement for my Honda Civic. I did some research, test drove a couple options. Today, we signed the deal to buy this:

Yeah, right. Like that's going to happen outside my dreams :ROFLMAO:

(it's a Jaguar F-type for the non-petrolheads out there)

No, we actually bought this:

Well, close to that. Mine's black but otherwise that's it. Yep, I replaced my 10+ year old Civic with ... another Civic. Nothing dramatic, just a good, solid, reliable, economical compact car, which is all this ape really needs to get to work.

Next time I'm on the market however ...

Wow - that was pretty exciting for a minute or two Mendalla! I replaced my 10 year old Hyundai Elantra GT - with - a Hyundai Elantra GT two years ago. But my new one is red ... and has a big panoramic sunroof & lots of feature the old one did not. Still a great reliable car :-)

For a second there I thought you had bought the Batmobile.

Long day today, but good. I was at a HAE info session. They run these in various cities and they are all different. I would have liked to have learned more about certain aspects, but I get why it was done the way it was. It was my hematologist doing the longer talk. He really is a brilliant and busy man. He gave me a lot of the science background about it when I was diagnosed and I could ask him questions for hours.
I was up late last night due to my eyes - both typical allergic symptoms and the area around my eyes is really irritated. I've had it looked at, will need to do more because it was really horrible. When I get all itchy like that I can't relax and it just gets me pumped up. I had a very long nap once home, will probably sleep a long time tonight too. Had a fair bit of rain today - finally! It seemed to really cut down on the allergens in the air so hopefully I'll be better for a while.
There wasn't a ton of time for socializing, but still it was great to meet other patients. There was a fair number of parent/adult child groups. The president talked a lot about dealing with it growing up, not knowing what 'it' was, but it being in the family. People dying of a 'weak heart' was a common conclusion. The discussions about connecting closely with the relatives who have this was foreign to me. Growing up instead there was a fair bit of blame on me - I wasn't taking my inhalers enough, I wasn't blowing my nose enough and therefore was causing myself to vomit, I ate too much, I ate the wrong thing etc. I remember in high school being grilled if I was pregnant due to having morning sickness type symptoms for 2 weeks.
I also came across this today:

There are the common types of swelling, but then you never know where else it might pop up even if it's more atypical. Especially if there's already some type of pathology in an area. This frustrates me, as hospitals always ask about a personal directive. They mostly cover things that at this stage there are just too many unknowns for me to go into the stuff that are more typical for them. The care that is really important to me can't be put into them. Things like medications I do not want. Or if I end up in the hospital for whatever reason - just give me berinert! I have told Chemguy that though. I don't care what happens - accident, push the doctors to give me berinert as you have no idea what type of swelling might be affecting internal organs. Ditto if I am sick. Even if the HAE isn't the initial cause it just complicates everything.
“According to Dr. Yang, whenever HAE patients present at hospital, they should be given C1 esterase inhibitor no matter what they’re complaining of,” said De Pauli.
^ That should be something that is standard for all HAE patients I think. The stupid thing is even when we're asking for it doctors are hesitant. It should be completely routine regardless of the reason besides some rare exceptions.

I wake from my dreams ... and every morning my old Subaru is still there in a yard ... a fixation?

It does well ... so beit ...

On minister told me only Gay people drive Subaru's ... I responded I've generally been happy, a variant of guise? It is not what you might believe ... BS to raise questions ... and thus the imagination was knocked up ... an old An-Glo term!

The picture of the red car says 'click to enlarge'. I cliccked. The red car exploded, a light flashed, a heard a bang, and everything went black.
Honest.

Then I heard the sound of the computer shutting down. I went out to the livingrroom and Seelerman confirmed. The TV had blinked off, the lamp went out, he had heard a bang at the transformeer on the pole behind the neighbour's house. The electricity had blinked.
It's back on. Everything seems find - but is it a warning of things to come.

And did Mendallaa's car causse it to happen? Too much car for my screen!

We had a street yard sale Saturday morning - weather started off 'iffy' for rain, but it cleared away & sun shone brightly after a while. Got rid of almost all the stuff I put out - left a bit at the curb & most it was gone by evening. Amazing what stuff collects over time. Then I did some puttering in the garden in the afternoon, had a lovely meal, and early to bed. So that was a great day.

This morning we celebrated the ordination of a young woman who has a close relationship with our congregation. She preached her first "official" Reverend sermon - and it was, as always, excellent. Lucky church that she has been called to - she is a truly gifted preacher with many skills, talents, and lots of love to share. We presented her with a gift of a hand-crafted tea pot & two mugs for her office - having "gone down to the potters house" and as a symbol of daily community & reflection. Rainy afternoon - so good to get some indoor house tasks done!

My extended family has had some more sad news this week. My first cousin, once removed (mom's cousin's) wife has passed away. She has been battling breast cancer on and off for about 14 years and this time was not able to beat it. She was first diagnosed shortly after having her daughter but was able to get it into remission. It has reappeared a few times since but this time was found in her spine and brain. They operated on her spine to help with pain but were not able to get her blood counts to a good enough level to even try chemo. She passed away at home on Friday morning. Luckily, the palliative nurse was there so her husband and daughter did not have to deal with that alone. She was only in her 50s, her daughter is graduating grade 8 this year.

Sorry to hear that Greywolf. There's no good time to lose one's mother, but that age seems especially rough to me.

I didn't mention some of the positive changes. HAE Canada has been changing quite a bit it seems. They have an ER project in the works - something that is highly needed IMO and I really hope it helps. They have overhauled their website, and now that's done they will be adding more things onto it.
