I preferred Reform to Conservative, so I would probably vote Wildrose :)
 
I got my time - 8:20. A bit surprised they want me that early, as I was told treatment in the morning, surgery in the afternoon, but treatment is supposed to be done pretty close to the surgery. Guess I'll have a fair bit of waiting time there.

Frustrated, they can't provide me a list of medications to bring. I never got a full list - I was told different things by different people, some of it contradictory and other prescriptions came up after the hospital appointment. Not a biggie - I just want to make sure I don't forget anything. They seem to like to stress that they are constantly checking they have the correct patient before giving medications, but it seems like they are failing at the very first step, especially considering my issues with the pharmacy.
 
Hmmm Writing in is a whole different skill set then making an X or colouring in a circle. Really-for those with shaky hands or not familiar with the Roman alphabet. I suspect there will be a lot more "spoiled ballots" than other years.

Especially without having a list!
I'm not sure if that's for all ballots or just special ones.

I can see lots of problems with writing the name rather than marking an X or putting a mark in a circle. Perhaps this could be discussed in the Politics forum.

Here in Relationships - I was brought up to believe that it is incredibly rude to ask someone who they voted for unless you are in a close relationship, and even then I think you should tread lightly.
 
I belive it is a write on ballet if it's the advance advance polls because there are still time for candidates to pull out, etc. At least that's how it was here in Ontario last summer and I think I could take the list into the booth eith me. There was a sign that someone could help you.

Good on you for voting chemgal - so many your age are not and federal tax dollars were cut in this area.
 
woo hoo! I'm very happy. Today our school district ordered a van that can accommodate 2 of our larger wheelchairs or 3 of the smaller ones! Now all students can go on field trips without their parents having to drive!
I have been agitating for this for a few years. I wanted one school bus to have a alift-but we only rent the busses.
This is a fine solution and can also hold 3 or 4 regular riders in seats.

It feels like a big accomplishment! We did a test drive this morning-loaded up one student, drove to the pool and added another student. Glad I had input and involved my therapy assistant student and two teacher assistants.
This feel like quite an accomplishment.
 
I am home. The important stuff went pretty good. Lots of little things went wrong - really annoyed with some things that I thought I was being extra cautious about, like bringing meds when I was specifically told not to. They did not have them. That could have been a bigger problem if I didn't take the step of what someone would call being paranoid.

I did have a throat attack. Issues with people not knowing how to mix - something else people look at me strangely about and just add things to my chart basically to appease me when I bring up the issue. Chemguy was there though, nurses were great and not arrogant, so he did one while teaching a nurse and getting her to do the other in case she needed to know later. At that point in time I could have done it if I had to but laying back was much beneficial. I did interject explaining the things that often go wrong - as I have seen what those not trained do more than Chemguy.

Really made about some outright lies said to me. Throat pain out of ER was extreme. I was told normal, even though before I was told there should be zero throat symptoms if no attack - and I questioned this and got more clarification and elaboration as this is why I was at the hospital in the first place. It meant coming out I was fighting to communicate as I thought it was all really bad throat attack. I think it was actually the start of one - quite mild at the time, along with normal symptoms that I was outright lied to about.

I'll write more later - I'm actually feeling worse today balance/concentration etc than yesterday. Different pain meds, next to no sleep and dietary issues with my meals.Pain/throat are better though.
 
Rough morning, one side is quite good, lots of pain on the other. Half my tongue felt swollen so we treated that. My tongue doesn't feel vastly different, but all the sudden I could talk much clearer and could open my mouth better. I think the entire swollen area is partially an HAE thing.
Due to how mild my throat thing usually is, my symptoms disappear really fast. Berinert doesn't take away swelling, it just stops it, so I think now I need to do the more typical thing and wait for my body to do the rest.

This is hard, it's really difficult to know what is normal swelling and what isn't.

Thanks, pain has gone away substantially too, and I haven't taken any pain killers today yet. I think this swell has slowly been building since I went to bed. As my throat felt fine I thought it was just normal swelling, the tongue this am was the tip off. Hopefully it continues to go down some as it's still more swollen than yesterday.

I hate having to guess. They don't want me on NSAIDs as the blood thinning can slow healing. I did get 2 IVs of a great one at the hospital though that took down all external visible swelling. They did that so I could watch for HAE symptoms. I want more of that!

This is so frustrating, it's all just guess work as to when I need to infuse.

At least I was sent home with my IV still in place - my request made multiple times was never officially oked, but the nurse who released me gave up trying to hear back from the surgeon - he had said it was up to the hospital staff when I asked him. She gave me and Chemguy a super quick lesson as to connecting and gave me the saline supplies to flush as well as the extra piece I need to allow my syringes to work with the plastic hanging out of my arm.

Not having to worry about getting the IV started, is a great load taken off, plus it means I can be in bed or wherever, no need to have my hand below my heart trying to get the stupid thing going.
 
Do you have an IV pole? When my hubby had home IV there was no pole - we rigged up a coat hanger to the floor lamp beside the couch and it worked great! The home IV nurse showed us how to hang the iv drip bag without a pole. It just has to be hung up high enough but not too high, and then count (used timer on my phone), adjust the "dial" on the connecting tube bit, until the count is the right number of drips per minute.

No, berinert is always a push, even when I was in the hospital they had to close the line to anything on the pole and do a push. The tubing on my arm is maybe a foot long and is all taped down in a back and forth pattern. Not connected to anything. There are two spots I could connect to - I think one is for an emergency, it was never used. The other is above the little clip thing, wipe it off with alcohol first. I open the clip and inject a preloaded syringe of saline, close the clip during the last bit, switch to berinert, takes 5 min to push and then flush with saline again.

It's pretty similar to what I normally do, instead of sticking a needle into my vein, I'm sticking a needleless system into a little plastic thing. I'm not sure of the names for all of these pieces.

I'm glad to hear that everything went relatively well Chemgal, and the good news is you never have to do this again. Once they're out, they're out. Since you're not sure if its swelling and pain etc is from HAE or the surgery I'd suggest treating for both. When I had mine out I put a damp facecloth in the freezer (wet enough for it to be cold but not so wet it froze solid) and molded it around my jaw to help with the pain and swelling.
 
Also, I'm not sure about anyone else but I had 0 throat pain from my being taken out so to me that sounds like a HAE issue than a wisdom teeth issue. That being said I was also not put under so I didn't have any tubes or anything in my throat that would have caused pain or irritation.

The first picture shows the spot where the catheter actually enters my arm, at the orange thing. The gauze is actually pretty far below the entry point, it's just to make the hard plastic thing more comfortable taped on my arm. This picture also shows the connector that was never used.
The second picture shows what we actually connect to. The are little plastic needle-like (but blunt) tips I attack directly to a syringe - both for saline and berinert. The tips slide right into the yellow thing. The blue thing is flimsy and just makes sure I can close off the line under pressure ie. when pushing so that blood doesn't go into the tubing when removing a syringe.
