Always pieces missing ... thus that inner rapture ... a hole for thoughts to sneak through as alien ... some can't stand it and close up ... Clotho's?


The breaks are hidden and disposed of ... it is a gap that one can feel unsafe about ... because there's nothing there ... but alas that's another thread! Very little connection ...
 
Big guy is away and so is my boarder/spotter when I have to snowblow (it's a bit dangerous for me to operate especially without someone watching), and it's supposed to snow tomorrow.

In better news, a couple of tweaks to a dill pickle hummus recipe rendered a very superior product. And wyrdly, I watched some of the superbowl last night in the company of our beloved Irish son-in-law and my son called me, which means I'm out of the doghouse again, lol; odd child.
 
Good morning! Hope the day is starting well! Almost ditching the car during a whiteout, broken axle at a drivethru, dog eating jigsaw puzzle pieces, those who can meditate on completeness, those for who winter is a hard time, we are here for you. We gather around the Coffee Cart for conversation, venting frustrations, sharing stories, and offer moral support, as we ponder completion and incompletion. We do this over tea and coffee and baked goodies. Today the Wonderaker has provided us with cinnamon buns, a favourite. The tea water is boiling, the coffee freshbrewed, and buns fresh and warm. All is ready, and each one is welcome. Come join in the fun!

Good morning. Sister-in-law's memorial was yesterday. They attend a fairly evangelical church so lots of talk about the hope of resurrection. Music was mostly led by my nephew's in-laws, with his wife joining her parents for one song. Good praise/worship music with just acoustic guitar and piano accompaniment. Another couple who have some connection to the church contributed an acoustic cover of "Fields of Gold" by Sting. My brother held up remarkably well, giving a long eulogy for his wife without breaking. Some other talks and reminiscences from one of their kids, a cousin of the deceased, and their pastor who is also a good friend of the family (as in, goes to the cottage with them and fishes with my brother). A good, if long, service overall. Ran into a former neighbour from my youth who I had not seen since my brother's wedding (30 years). He and my brother were buddies through their teens and twenties. Also met a few people like my nephew's in-laws that I had last met at my nephew's wedding pre-pandemic.

Back to a more normal life today after that sad break. Reminder, though, that I am not getting any younger nor are the rest of my circle. We've had two family funerals in under a year and I have an uncle in his 90s. On the upside, I met my cousin's kid's partner again (she was at my aunt's funeral last summer, too), so that's a glimpse of the future of that side of the family.
 
Good Wednesday morning! As we reflect on changing patterns of dealing with death of loved ones, thinking of music, gatherings (or not) and such, and handling getting back to 'normal' life afterward, we realize how it changes over time. Certainly the typical 90 minute funerals of my childhood are much shorter, maybe 25-40 minutes. How have such things been changed as you remember them?
The Room is ready for us; we gather in spirit round the Coffee Cart, to chat, support, share ideas, and partake in tea and coffee, as well as baked goodies. Today the Wonderbaker has whipped up croissants, with some toppings and spreads for our indulging. The tea water is boiling, coffee is freshbrewed, and croissants are warm and flakey. All are welcome, so come on in, join in the snacks, and share in the chat!

In some systems the dead are taking longer to get through the process ... no one wishes to let eM go ...

Reconsider what is lost ... and yet they are still worked to death to support the upper ends ... I have to go ... I've felt it here for years ... Men Dahla even said it ... a flowering expression polei nation?

Hmm. After two in under a year, I thought that particular pandemic holdover had finally expired. There was a delay between my aunt's passing and her service but that's because they wanted the service to be at her church in Minden and she passed in early May, still not the best time to head for cottage country.

I added a jar of my DIL's delicious Haskap spread that sone of you may not have experienced. It is one of those jars that never empties so use lots if you want.

Close together deaths are incredibly difficult to experience. I lost my bother, sister and BIL in three months. Went from being the youngest in the generation to being the only one. . All the funerals were in England and I was unable to attend. Locally there was basically no reaction.

That's a bummer. My wife had to make two trips home (Shanghai, China) in a year because of her parents dying within months of each other. Her siblings are both still there, too, but they are around her age so hopefully have a few more years to go. My family, including my aunt's line, are all in Ontario and most are close by. My son in Ottawa is the furthest afield.
