The same ungrateful wretch complaining about the hospitality is bringing virtual fresh lemon blueberry muffins.
I'm lighting a candle instead of cursing the darkness.

My daughter and her family are driving back from Florida yesterday and today… I guess they’re trying to outrun an ice storm.

N Ow that the postal service work again, I could no longer postpone “writing for Rights” for Amnesty International.
One of the 9 cases this year is the Wet’suwet’ten activist group. I have to admit, I am not up to date on that conflict. I researched a bit on their website. It looks to me that they are deeply divided themselves over the issue.
However, the letter writing is about not to criminalize and harrass protesters, which I can agree with.

Still raining here. Friends we met in Kelowna sold their Calgary house and have moved to the island. We had planned to go to a local farmers market yesterday so we invited them to join us. So we headed to that town. When we got there, no market. It was weirdly disorienting. Was it Saturday? Turns out, the market takes a break for the two weeks after Christmas. We went to a local ciders for lunch and had a great visit. We've been there in the summer and have brought the dog because they allow dogs on the grounds. Turns out they have a spot where dogs are allowed through the winter. Very cool.

Party was a blast yesterday. 4th run for the dishwasher is running, and 4th load of laundry as we pack up Christmas.
20 adults, 10 kids, lots of laughs, too much food, and plenty of chaos.
Was -5 with a wind, and so the smore consumption was less than normal, as was the hotdog consumption. Some good tobogganing was done, though and lots of hot chocolate.

Today is taking down, then, putting away all of christmas decorations, tidying the house, and then beginning to figure out what i am taking to Tokyo.

We seem to have had a run of mechanical failures.
My car blew it's coolant on Thursday when I was doing the last of the shopping for the party -- ended up being flatbed'd to the dealers on Fridya morning.
My husband's car needed a bit of work that he wasn't planning on doing until i left for my trip, and so, did not work out well that my car was out of commission! Creativity was required for substitutions for gifts.

The snowblower has a seized motor, and procrastination has occurred on if it is time to replace it. (I say "yes!)
Plus, the ATV's solenoid & starter went. It's quite new and is our main plow. It has been at the shop; however, the parts are backordered.
So.....shoveling was done. Luckily the snow was light.

It does mean that our driveway is a pretty good snow hill!

So glad that the party was as wonderful as anticipated @JayneWonders! As for the mechanical failures, it strikes me that such things come in bunches. I remember the month that our fridge, washing machine and computer all decided to die. Thankfully, I keep a 'rainy day' (or 'broken necessities') fund so I wasn't stuck.

Good morning! Happy Epiphany, to those who observe it. Rain and snow, parties and celebrations, and all the things that will pop up today, we bring it all with us to the Coffee Cart, for conversation, support, and sorting out. Today with our tea, coffee, and hot chocolate, we have muffins from yesterday, and danishes, and other pastries. The drinks are fresh steeped or brewed, the baked goodies are nice and warm. Come join the chat, and help yourself to the baked stuff. All is ready, all are welcome! Come join the fun!

Back to usual work weeks, too, after two rather chaotic ones due to the placement of the stats this year. 2 days on, 2 days off, 1 day on, weekend...

And my real holiday is still to come. We take off South for two weeks come Saturday so I worked through the holidays.

I’ve been googling winter getaways but…just a dream. So I do other things to raise my spirits…I potted three new houseplants yesterday. Now I have to research what they are.

Isn't chaos the norm as other desires are imposed of folk that aren't thinking alike ... thus positive and negative sides of the divide ... if you look on the dark side you may find the hams ...

Did I say that in ancient terms a ham was a unseen thing? These were designated to be kept under cover ... thus the sign; gamma! Shady????
