I didn't make any edibles this Xmas. I owe my sister a batch of butter, which she uses to make sleeping brownies, which she individually freezes. She uses a special mix so they are gluten free and low in dairy. I also make a big batch of 420 salve which comprises CBD herb steeped in coconut oil, then blended with special honey./bee ingredients and a secret blend of essential oils. That has not gotten done and post-Christmas I owe a bunch of people a tin of it.

And while I did come closer to perfecting big guy's Mom's liebkuchen recipe, I made only one batch, we/he gave away most of them away to avoid temptation and I ran out of energy to make the german shortbread which I began perfecting last year.

So, generally I was a bit of disappointment around Christmas baking. I did make quite a few mince tarts for the church, and a couple of dozen for here, and there's still half a batch of pastry in the fridge and some mincemeat, so it might not quite be over.

He's been away for a week, just got back tonight and I made a rather awesome saag aloo chicken tonight with garlic naan and a light vinegared salad. A Bud for him, a pseudo-craft hoppy IPA for me. Stories of the last week's visit with his family (3 younger sisters and a favorite niece).

Weather was a bit awful last night and today and promising more (those in Oro-Medonte and the Orillia area got it worse). Dinged my neighbour's mirror last night negotiating between two large trucks in a snowstorm, *sigh*

Good morning! Day 12 of Christmas is here. We think about coaches' training, icebox cookies, liebkuchen recipes, and anything else that comes to mind; we bring them with us to the Coffee Cart, to chat, discuss, support and care. We also drink coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, and savor icebox cookies (mmmmmmm!) doughnuts, and the last of the fruitcake (sigh). All are welcome, all is ready. Come join the fun!

We got hit by squalls from Lake Huron today. We have well over a foot of snow, it's blowing at the top of the valley, and while my folks' driveway was plowed this morning, this is what it looks like now:

Image that going all down hill ... over the hump? They say it must be addressed ...
The "hump" is where I ran my downhill ski long and crushed it. The facilitator you can hear in the video was duly impressed. I told him he couldn't say that in the video and then fail me. He didn't.

We had a few flurries earlier today but not a speck of snow on the ground now.
We have a small amount down here. Maybe a cm or so on the ground. That was mostly from overnight and yesterday, though. Today has just been occasional light flurries.

Yikes! One of my work team was headed up to Goderich for the weekend (he and his wife are both from there). Hope they got there okay.

We have a rainy day here. We learned some friends had moved to town. We were going to go to a local farmers market downtown at one of the nearby towns. No market today. They're probably on a break for the holidays. We went for lunch at a local cidery and had a great meal and visit.

I don't think the big streamers went that far south. I could be wrong.

We couldn't drive back the normal route because a tractor trailer went off the valley road. Zach finally got back to the cottage, collapsed on the couch and said, "I can't believe I did that today."

The little guy skied all day in a snowstorm. I'm proud of him.

When we took our son to Ottawa to tour Ottawa and Carleton campuses, we also took him to Tremblant to ski. It was nasty the day we drove there from Ottawa and he did his first runs. The snow was great when he went back for more the next morning though.

Had no university tour days. I chose my universities by the unique programs that they offered up. I was excited to be a part of them

It was a bit awful today, snow-wise; we probably had 8-10". I see very little evidence of plowing by City. Big guy came over, removed spark plug from blower, went to hardware store, replaced it and hurray that solved problem. He did driveway, hoping I will be able to do it again if necessary, or the boarder can learn; it's a terrible big machine.

Good morning! How is everyone? As the discussion of snow and weather (stay safe, those of you who are under snow fall or squall warnings), university tours, driveways and ski coaching continues, and as other topics rise up today, we gather round the Coffee Cart for conversation, support, and hot beverages and cookies. The coffee is freshbrewed, tea water hot, and baked goodies warm from the oven. All is ready, and all are welcome. Come in and relax, have a mug or cup, and share in the conversations!
