Skied. Weird being on the slopes this early. My head coach got himself fired before the season even started. Long story. I'm still coaching Carter's old cohort, which is all I care. And now I have no real supervision.

*insert evil laugh here*

Had a nice river walk with friends this morning followed by a pub lunch. The walk is very flat and nice. There is a tree where people hang Christmas ornaments, including some that are tributes to lost pets. It was a nice outing.

Walked almost a km to the beach at 6:30 am, did some exercises, walked back to the resort, rinsed my shoes and wrap, did 12 slow laps in the pool, dried off a bit, and went in for breakfast. We took a loaded wagon of beach stuff and walked less than a km to the other beach. I walked about a km along the beach, and back; we went into the surf with B, and did an almost km swim once I got past the waves. Either I am adjusting or this afternoon was the coolest so far as I never felt very hot. Ribs and back still hurt, sometimes severely. Did some research and learned it normally takes 4 to 6 weeks for bruised ribs to heal. B and I will take the bus into town tomorrow morning to get another prescription of Tramadol or another pain suppressant. The Tylenol and Advil only help a little. Day 5 in Costa Rica.

Went out for lovely dinner last night at Stillwaters in Paris. Had a lovely table tucked in the corner looking over the river. The snow was falling gently.

Then we went to a Christmas concert by the Jason White Trio at the little country united church near us. Great night of jazz and good company.

Sad to see the snow is all gone this morning

Good morning! Skiing, walking, swimming, and the things that will arise today come with us as we gather in spirit round the Coffee Cart. We discuss, offer and receive support; we laugh and commiserate; and drink coffee, tea, and hot chocolate, to wash down the muffins. The coffee is fresh brewed, tea water is boiling, and muffins are warm from the oven. Fruitcake is available, as it will be through the holidays. All is ready and everybody is welcome. Come join in the chats!

The muffins sound amazing!

Does any other community have what we have with our online media SooToday? It’s called Random Act of Kindness, The Twelve Days of Christmas. People write in letters to nominate people who have done special things for others or who have experienced tragedy and may need a Christmas boost. Those chosen are surprised with appropriate gifts and a visit on video. So….i watched the first one this morning. Yes, I’m in tears.

At the division between Playa Carillo and Playa Samara on the Pacific coast of Costa Rica. During our first trip here we stayed at Punta Indio across the highway. It takes about 2.5 hours to get here from the airport in Liberia. Might be about 100 km. Samara is the larger community. A high school student living here has a school day that begins at 6 in the morning and finishes about 5 in the afternoon here as he goes to schoolb

Good morning! Chatting about Costa Rica, school, Random Acts of Kindness, and all the things that will pop up today; we gather round the Coffee Cart for hot beverages of all kinds, and squares and brownies. The coffee is fresh brewed as always, and the hot water is ready to make tea, or hot chocolate. Let us gather for conversation, support, community, and sharing the goodies before us. All is ready, all are welcome. Come join the fun!

Are random acts of kindness lost to them that do not believe in a quantum field ... if only by chance?

The metaphors for field are dumbfounding especially for those wishing it nihil 'd own to simple ... when the entire exponent is very complex!

There are powers that just cannot observe the item of mystery ...

Walked about a km to do my exercises at the beach.
Taxis here are interesting. Our taxi last Friday evening was an old pickup truck with three of us riding in the back. When we got a lot of groceries on Saturday, our taxi was a smaller beat up car with a trunk that did not open. The three of us in the back and the groceries were packed in tight. Strictly walking and buses now.

Well, my head coach apparently jump-started the Christmas season by shouting expletives at teens at a BC preseason camp for things like eating junk food (had a small point) and going night skiing with permission from parents but not him (weird), among other things. He had a meeting with athletes and parents where he recorded himself. Then he sequestered the parents in a room and gave them the same treatment, recording it again.

Then he sent the videos to club management, the board of directors, and every head coach at every ski club in our area.

It was an impressive performance, in terms of number of bridges burned.

All that said, I'm back. And in an unexpected position to provide some leadership to the entire program.

This could be a lot of fun. I'm not sure what these kids are expecting, but I'm pretty sure it isn't the season they're about to have.

And hey, the police caught the group that had been robbing homes in my area. 5 arrested two nights ago.

So if anyone is interested in career in home breaking-and-entering, there's a new opening in my area.
The cops would like me as a perp. I couldn't run away if I tried and I would probably throw my back out first time and be laying on the floor writhing in agony by the time they arrived. :ROFLMAO:

I mean, reaming out both the kids and parents the way he did was not a great start. But filming it and sending it to the management and board? That's almost epic.

And good morning all! Still wet around here but temps should drop tonight and then we are back to winter just in time for Christmas. I'm dreaming of a white Christmas, I guess.

We have a rainfall warning here right now. We're heading up-island to visit friends. We may need scuba gear for the trip.....

We were part of a surprise 50th birthday celebration for a friend last night. It was at a great local restaurant. It was a nice visit with friends. The only glitch was the server thought I'd asked for a Greek salad when I asked for their Greek pizza. Big difference. I did get the pizza for free. She charged for the salad which was cheaper than the pizza. Their Greek salad is at least half green peppers. Blech.

Reminds me of a number of supervisors that rose through the Peter Prin. to be cock of the rock ... and a large target!
