weight loss

Welcome to Wondercafe2!

I have given myself a fitness goal rather than a weight goal. Every year the World Wildlife Fund does a fundraiser which involves climbing the CN tower, my goal is to do it next year (in April). Its 144 flights of stairs, I did 50 in 20m at the gym today on the stair master.

A wonderful way to look at improving your health Greywolf . . . and a wonderful goal to try and attain (CN tower) - you can do it!

I hope you really excel at the stair climb Graywolf. I would never attempt it myself because doing so might trigger a seizure.

Update - March 28 - 213.25 pounds. Obese.

How did you get such an exact reading? My scale only reads down to the "ones" and isn't especially accurate at that. Just moving it (as when I wash the floor in the bathroom) knocks it off by a couple pounds.

I'm still shedding some weight gained this past week by overindulging at the buffet lunches and dinners at the Spencer Leadership Centre here in London where I was taking a course.

Actually, I posted the wrong number. I was doing my best to read it off the MyFitnessPal progress graph. However, when I check the actual weight history, I see I'm actually at 213.4

What are your common triggers Jae?

ChemGal, my primary trigger is heat. Stress (which is what I feel I'd have if I tried to climb the tower) is also a trigger. Light isn't a trigger for me, although it is one for many with epilepsy.

Thanks Jae. I knew of some of the triggers for epilepsy, but didn't know many of them.

Hey, PR. Jae. Do you have one of those scales that posts or hooks up to a website or app?
Do you like it? (I'm thinking you must if you are quoting your weight from a software progress graph, as compared to the actual scale)

No, I don't have one of those Pinga. I weigh myself the old-fashioned way (get on the scale and look), and then enter the readings manually into the MyFitnessPal app on my Windows Phone. Do you have one of those web scales? If so, do you like using it? I'm thinking soon I may purchase a kitchen scale to measure food on.

So, Pr. Jae, given that,

Given the above series of posts, I see that you are not quoting your actual weight, rather you are stating your projected weight based on numbers put into a program.

In the interests of continuing on with the thread in a respectful manner, I will just leave this information out there.

So, Pr. Jae, given that,

What?
I'm not a gadget person, so I'm confused what this is based on. It sounds like Jae is weighing himself, so are we getting a value off of a curve of best fit or something?

I'm thinking soon I may purchase a kitchen scale to measure food on.
I have one and like it so I don't need to go look up a conversion factor when a recipe calls for the mass of something. Also makes getting the correct ratio of liquid to cheese correct for fondue if we aren't going off of a fresh block.

I too weigh myself and enter the numbers on My fitness pal-but I use my home or work computer. We enter weights as often as we like and it graphs it for us. I'm not sure what you think it is Pinga. It does not predict just displays what we tell it. It does not predict weight loss for as most of us know-weight loss is not linear.

Jae has stated he did not read his weight correctly on the graph.
The only way you get a graph is if you input numbers or do a projection.

So, Jae, direct question.
Is the number you put here a number that you had previously entered into your program?

I really don't know why I bother....Jae stated his weight to the quarter of a pound. When Mendalla asked, he said he read it wrong from his graph. T

Tabitha, I did have a program that you put in your goal, and it tracked & projected weights...basically showing historically and based on current path if your weight would continue. It actually was pretty good. Can't remember which one it was...but was doing well. Of course, it also had you record food intake and exercise patterns.

Pinga... that's why I earlier posted...

It charts the information that I enter into a line graph - which is what I first referenced in response to Mendalla's question. However, later I looked at my Diary to see the actual weight I had entered.

Thinking about all of those who are dealing and struggling with extra weight at this time in their lives . . . thinking of those who have too many extra pounds, and also those I know who struggle from the other side - having a difficult time putting on much needed weight.

We've got to eat, right? It's not like we can just give it up, like smoking, or drinking alcohol, or chewing our nails, etc. (and all those things are difficult in themselves). But we have to eat something - and hopefully the something we eat is nutritious, the right quantity, and useful for giving our bodies all that they need. But, there are also the foods and quantities that don't do those things - and unfortunately, in most cases those are the ones that taste so darn good :).

One day at a time, fellow journey-ers. I think it helps to keep the focus on good health versus losing weight. It is a battle - preparation for the battle, and planning for the battle, is key. Good luck with food plans, exercise, water intake, and keeping your body moving.
