I wish I could prosaic more clearly ... but I'm told that would be immoral, un ethical and perhaps illegal under upcoming rules for those that have no sense of compassion, sympathy and pools of 'M pathe ... for the wholly dame population of flighty things! Eve aengels ... them that buss about under the tree of knowledge ... upturning mire ... or dirt on the Myra ... where St Nich roots around and about ... mostly in Circe ... sense of the Roman stir up ...

*finishes taking a toke*

you already know you won't get any complaints from me, friend; i think you're safe from the Powers that Be -- they're on a more concrete level

*passes the spliff*

more signs of spring:

skunk cabbage
packs of robins
packs of people jogging

and whilst walking through an industrial park, i felt a moment of, it might be, no, yes?

summer: the still air, the stink of cars and road, the beginnings of heat around the edges of the coolness...for a few moments...and a glorious bright sun dog today

oh, and bizarreness here: there are beware of beaver signs around -- so neet living in a place where one can go from city to the wild...tho i wouldn't want to really live in, say, Prince George or Churchill...*wimpy*

Spring here..... there is sun in the morning, there is sun at the end of the shift... well at least daylight!
I saw my sidewalk..yup, there wasn't snow on a section.

Hmmm.... that's about it, here where it is snowing in s. ont

Speaking of spring springing, don't forget to set your clocks ahead an hour tonight.

Just flurries for London today and temps are supposed to (finally) be positive by mid-week. As predicted, as soon as it gets close to me going someplace warm (I leave for Atlanta a week tomorrow), the weather finally improves.

Amendment: Actually, we are supposed to be positive by Monday now.

We escaped today by heading to the Royal Botanical Gardens for Jazz Brunch with friends ... then a wander through the Mediterranean Garden green house, the smaller greenhouse loaded with blooming spring bulbs, and finished up in an exhibit of amazing frogs from around the world! So it was a nice escape for a few hours :-) Now it's snowing lightly again ... sigh.

BTW Inanna - I do enjoy your descriptive prose!

more signs of spring:

the slap of stick the scrape of shoe on pavement as people play street hockey
seeing a young girl whack a bush and seeing smoke come out -- POLLEN. oh, she was having a grand time
a ferris wheel with passengers gleaming in a parking lot (or is that Autumn??? mr dark, give me my pages back!!!)
demure cherry blossoms
people's perfume gets stronger

I saw real water out in the wild country today!! Not much - but there it was - towards the middle of a wee stream! We had a tail gate weiner roast nearby and we didn't need gloves. The road was wet in places too. Exciting promises of spring getting closer.

It did smell like spring today! I wonder what that's about - but it is so noticeable. I walked to & from church in the sunshine today - lots more people out and about ... soon!

I was walking with the hounds yesterday morning about 11 a.m. It was overcast, but not drizzling (as it would later). It was actually a beautiful grey early spring morning, the snow banks with that dirty, grainy textured appearance, muddy puddles to coat the underside of a basset's belly as he skitters along on his half legs, brown green lawns exposed and foot printed beside the sidewalk. There was, spookily, no-one else about, although a few cars whizzed past. It will be nice to see the first hints of fresh green. More birds about; lots of woodpeckers identifying the dead trees for us!

We had a nice spell of good weather - warm sunny days when the snow settled, and cool nights that put a sparkle on the white. The city actually started cutting back the snowbanks and widening the streets and water trickled down driveways and along the curbs to the storm drains. (Unfortunately I was sick with the flu for over a week and didn't get to stand in the driveway leaning on a shovel and soaking up the sun.)

Then came yesterday - drifts as high as any that we've had this year. Winter paid another call.

It's amazing how those redpolls can cling to the birdfeeder when the wind is actually blowing the snow horizonally across the deck before swirling it over the roof of the house or piling it up between the house and car. And yet the birdies come and eat.

Things are melting here in the world's greatest city. Spring is :) springing out all over.
