Sigh. Big cup of strong black tea needed. No Internet at home except my crappy cell data since mid-afternoon Wednesday. Waiting on Rogers. Supposed to be an 8-11 window so hopefully soon.

I've been told AI systems are incorrigible ... more disfunction of intellectual process due to marginalized cuts ... powers don't know where that line hides ... mental parabases ... 2 cheeks! twinned satyr at the end ... in house mules?

Happy Friday ( still). I baked cookies for the bridal shower tomorrow. Gave my son some money so he could do something with the guys- they will go to the pub. I just could ‘t stand that this is so gender exclusive and he didn’t get to do anything, sitting home alone while the girls are having fun.
I also will celebrate tomorrow, because I heard today that the neighbours next to me are moving out tomorrow. They had taken down that low fence they had last week, behind which they had let their two vicious pit bulls out. Yesterday, she had them out off leash, I heard her yell at them while I was in my yard. I am so worried about the d
safety of everybody. The Korean kids across the street are playing on the street often.
The other neighbour said they are not moving to AB,they have bought a travel trailer which they have parked on land next to a campground that belongs to a friend. That is another potential harm in the making if they let them run there. I don’t know how they will live through NS winter in a travel trailer- but I don’t really care too much. I am just happy when they are gone without anybody getting injured. Hopefully, someone will buy the place that is a responsible pet owner.

Hoping you and all the guests enjoy the bridal shower tomorrow Mrs.Anteater! And that Jr.Anteater has a good safe time out with friends too - that was thoughtful of you.

Good morning, As we think of business ventures and getting closure, of not-so-good neighbours leaving, of internet interruptions, and bridal showers, and all the other stuff that makes life what it is, let us pause and join in spirit round the Coffee Cart, for hot beverages, conversation, and camaraderie. All is ready.

Life appears an insubstantial mess, eh? If one can grasp enough to comprehend it ... then we let go ... the numbers are overwhelming while the quality goes down ... still we are directed to MS Understand!

If it doesn't stand it is laid out ...

I am very frustrated lately. We have an organization locally that does so much good work: they provide meals for a number of shelters, they use surplus food in innovative recipes (made by a world-class chef) rather than have stores send to the dump, they grow food in greenhouses, they sell seedling plants and have fundraisers such as selling Easter bread, and they have a little store for people to 'shop' in if they need canned goods. They are part of United Way. They also have a huge group of extremely dedicated volunteers. Well...they are going under. Our church just donated to them, but they would need many more donations that what we can provide. Apparently rent is $150,000/year (to the realtor). I am frustrated because this is an organization that was doing so much good in such an efficient way. A few efforts to save it got muddled up in politics. The United Way director tells me that it is just a rumour that they are going under; but my friends who volunteer there say that everything has to be moved out of the building by Tuesday. I hate it when I see good things, run by good people, not get the help they deserve.

I understand your frustration. I worked for years with a very effective non profit and it was extremely difficult to keep the costs down. Government agencies frequently put roadblocks in the way of providing services. If they themselves provided the services that would be ok. They didn't.

Has rent been that much for a while or is this a recent increase? Over $12,000 s month seems pretty steep.
Now that the pandemic is over (for certainly values of "over") I am hearing about major rent hikes by commercial property owners. Our regular Chinese grocery closed up due to a massive rent hike when their lease came up this past winter. There's two more but this one was nicely located for us. Though we are now hearing another Chinese grocery, the Loblaws-owned T&T, might replace it but they won't open up for at least a year per their CEO (who is a Western grad so has wanted to get into this market for a while apparently).

Good morning! Happy Second Sunday of Easter! As we speak of agencies doing good work, and other small businesses, being strapped by rent increases, and the rent increases (along with other costs since the pandemic), and other topics of interest and concern, let us gather round the Coffee Cart for conversation and community. It is said that the 18th Century American Revolution actually began with discussions in the coffeehouses of Boston. Mayhap we can make a similar impact here? You never know....

The news says that the Secret Service has a challenge to look after the past president ... especially if he is jailed! For us is that a nu problem in the collective as nous ... and Trump doesn't care for anything of that sort! Is that like a contrary joust?

Imagine mules taking up such efforts ... the word carries!

Illiteracy remains as a strong factor in our overall flaws and holes in systems simulating abyss ... minor abstractions????

Thus take-aways ....

My frustration remains over the closure of a good non-profit. Apparently a group was trying to incorporate a community kitchen into the building as well, and the city would pay rent, helping with that astronomical rent that was being paid. My son works for a group that was trying to get this to happen, and the answer from those who make the decisions was: Good idea. We'll try it in 3 years. So sad. I've let the local newspaper know that there might be a story here if they do some searching.

Argh. Hate it when something good is on the line and no one seems to be able to come to a decision to fix it. Hopefully, you can get a reporter to run with it. Is anything happening on social media? That's usually a good way to get the press' attention these days.

Had son and partner over today. Nice visit and Mrs. M. was able to put on her retired professor hat to help partner with something. Then the three of them started talking math so I kind of zoned out. There's a reason my son's an engineer for a chip company and I am just a customer.:(

@Mrs.Anteater , how was the shower?
It was nice. The bridesmaids had organized it. I had expected more people, but some couldn’t come, so there were 11 of us. Finger food, pictures taken, two games played.
I had given my son some money for a “groomal shower” and he went to the pub with some friends on open mike night. What he didn’t know was that our friend who he knows since he was a toddler, had spoken to the guy running the mike and he announced him officially and gave him a gift my friend has given him to give to the groom.
The gift was a a skirt completely made out of teal-coloured s.. ( don’t know how to spell this- those glittery round pieces you sew on fabric). The story behind it was that as a little boy, he was obsessed with wearing this skirt out of their daughters tickle trunk- he would put it on as soon as we entered their house- and my friend has always said that she will give it to him when he marries.
