Spent the weekend with my parents, much of it eating, more of it cutting down dead trees and stacking the resulting firewood.

Six trees down, none of them large, but it's still a lot of work. One more largish one to go when I'm up next.

Fixed the tractor, cleared the walking trail where hydro had cut down a tree near power lines and left it across the trail, cleared out some of my old things, and left the place a lot better than we found it. That's generally the goal.

And Zach was awesome. He dragged branches to the pile and loaded firewood on the tractor. He is almost 7, and this weekend he was a big help.

We had a nice potluck with a small group of friends. It was so nice to do this. It's been so long since we could. Of course there was tons of food. It was wonderful.

Good morning! Sounds like we had a pretty good holiday weekend overall, lots of memories made to carry into the future with us. As we enter upon a new day, let us gather round the coffee cart, continuing to remember and plan. All is ready. All are welcome.

If rights slip away is the only thing left ... poor remnants ... the prior urge! Comes from the lizard mind ... the primal part of the thing busted ... broken humanity?

I supplied three dozen home made buns to the Thanksgiving feast hosted by my daughter. She prepared chicken, ham, potatoes, salads etc.. Her four adult kids and two partners got sent home with leftovers.

Remnants are precious ... they parallel following thoughts that are after the loving ...

This is when folk wonder why they did this thing ... it is integral irrationality! (dependant on projection and pokes ...)

Young boys in the helping stage with Dad are totally precious. Thank Godde for helpful boys and Dads.

And yes, I combined a couple of days of leftovers into a final swan song this evening. Yum for roast turkey, stuffing, cranberries and gravy. It's the go-to flavour combo for me. I flirt with vegetarianism, but roast meats appeal to my tastebuds.

Good evening. Today was a good one. I enjoyed a brunch with ladies from the church this morning. My friend and I went together. Thankfully I have good reflexes because some jerk turned left in front of us on the way home. This afternoon was spent with friends of the park. It was a nice day.

I have visions of a child with a chainsaw. It sounds like many ate well during the past few days.

The not quite 5 year old with an axe was enough for me. Haven't seen any chainsaws in reach of either kid.
For now the chickens are exciting enough. Brought some eggs home after our visit.

I have a cousin in England who is an absolutely brilliant Jack-of-all-tradesmen. Electrical, plumbing, framing, fine carpentry. But I also have a vision of him as a teen/young man following my crafty Dad around like a shadow when he was visiting, of sucking up all that my physics/math/outdoors-y godfather had to give him.

My daughter carried most of the branches and firewood. She's thin but way stronger than she looks, and while not as eager to learn how to do things, very eager to help.

When picking courses for high school, she had the option to take "Construction Technology". She did not, and her reason was, "I get that at home."

She'll be changing tires with me next. And she is going to take her own bike apart to overhaul it this winter. Right down to the bearings. She wants to learn that.

Chances are, no boy she ends up with is going to know how to do half the physical and mechanical things she can do. For a thin blonde girl who carries a sketch book wherever she goes, it's quite the contrast.

Good morning. all! Good meals with leftovers, helpful offspring, esp. those learning to use sharp implements, brunches and everything else going on, we're here for it. The coffee cart is ready, come on in and help yourself.

More 'yum' emoji stuff: I always make cranberries to go with turkey but it is the least favourite item on our table. However, I then take the leftover cranberry sauce and make cranberry squares...like date squares, only with cranberry sauce in the middle. My mom, my sister and I all like this version of cranberry sauce.

A late friend used to love date squares ... it was funny when he picked up a cranberry square and was shocked at the different taste experience! Yet it it looked like a date square ... he dove in ...

Cranberry sauce has never been big in my family. My wife and I use Craisins (dried cranberries) in various dishes at home but not other forms of them. The cranberry squares sound yummy, though.
