I'm surprised, things shot up in Edmonton and Calgary just caught up with their data (datum point 13th) and it's still fairly noisy, ie. down from the one before that). Seems like Edmonton may be into this wave earlier than Calgary although hard to call it without a little more data.

Novovax vaccine is now available, it does not use the Mrna technology, but rather the more traditional method that were used to. It deploys a harmless version of the spike protein that teaches the immune system to create antibodies to fight off the virus. Studies have it at 90% effective against the new variants such as BA 5.
The US is hoping it will encourage those who are anti vaccine if they are offered a more traditionally made vaccine.
There are new reports out of the UK that it is causing some severe allergic results to those who have allergies to components of the shot.

I'm confused I thought that was available a while ago. Or was that called something else? Many sound so similar.

We've spoken about Novavax I'm quite certain. Not sure about it being better against BA2.
I wasnt saying it was better just that now its available with antibodies against BA2.
Same as Moderna now....I'm not sure if Pfizer is up to date with BA2 protection yet.
All vaccines we have been given this year or last didnt have it yet.

The vaccine doesn't have antibodies.
Are you saying though they have updated the protein for what we have for Novavax? That I hadn't heard of.
Seems like it's all the same ones

This is your field, probably better suited to explain.
We know Moderna is working on a vaccine for Omicron, and is expected in the fall. The mRNA sequence will not be the same. That change will require a new Health Canada approval, it will have a different DIN (drug identification number).
Similar would be true if Novavax has a newer version, although it's the sequence of amino acids in the protein that would be different. I haven't heard of that, if you can link to something I can look at it.

I'll try tomorrow.

I'm not sure what to make of this current wave yet, numbers are down again. Noisy data is normal, but waves 5 and 5 were so strong the start of the waves didn't look so noisy. This could have already passed although with how contagious that seems unlikely. The peak we have hit so far are still higher than waves 1-4.

The number from the "seventh wave" that matters to me is "1". 1 positive test that shows the (bleep) virus has finally caught up with me. Felt like hell earlier today but better tonight.

So,

I remember in the past a few times members have brought up excess deaths

But that the data was scant etc

Well it looks like now there is data. We know enough of excess deaths in some countries

But so far it looks like no actual reasons for why yet?

So 1 year ago

His latest

I have been following this guy on and off. He does these really good "weather reports" on covid...and he gives actual refs and data...I see even OurWorldinData is keeping track of excess deaths...

So has anyone heard more aboot this?

What are all of the hypotheses? And have they been tested?

I would think in our current world something like this would be seriously investigated?

Anyway for your perusual. If you are interested. Again, dont explore if your life is busy and stressed oot enough as it is lol

I know that score

Have at ye!
