If the Conservatives win the election, I suspect the parts good for working people will be reduced or cut due to finances. It is sad Ford is tied so tightly to developers and LTC corporations. The money allocated to new spaces would probably do four times as much good if given to home care. We are not going to cut greenhouse gases by building more freeways. It would be politically unpopular, but putting tolls on most major highways would probably reduce greenhouse gases.

I would really like to see the high speed train in AB built. The number of times plans have started on this and then stopped ahs been ridiculous. It seems like during every boom in my lifetime things begin to happen with it, and then during recessions instead of continuing on when a) labour and materials tend to be cheaper and b) people could use the jobs everyone is very short sighted. While definitely an environmental cost to doing it, I suspect we could have had something in place by now that benefits to the environment would have surpassed the costs.
I wonder if it will ever get done as far North as Fort McMurray. In the 70s, 80s I think it would have been easy to see the advantage of Lethbridge - FMM. At this point, less sure, but if Calgary to Edmonton does get down first and is up and running for a bit it should be a little easier to predict if it's worthwhile.

We have drizzly cool weather wich again will turn into rain later on. Went for a walk to a store 3 km away which had seniors day today to get the flee stuff for the cat. Now drying off, having some hot chocolate.
Hoping for a good day for you. Yesterday must have been tough.

Greetings. We're taking it easy this morning. We had a busy day yesterday and I'm tired today. I'm working on my stash-busting, simple corner to corner knit road trip blanket. We are planning a walk over to the falls that are nearby. It looks like an easy walk. I'll bring my camera. We have no TV here because I can't get anything on the antenna. That's fine. We're listening to the radio and may dig out the CDs. Heck, I might even read a book.

A pair of antimaskers today were arguing with those working at the clinic. They seemed surprised that they needed to wear masks - even though that clinic sends an email about a week in advance with that information and they call the day of to screen and remind of the mask protocol (they actually are starting earlier to do that, normally when I have a 9 am appointment staff are arriving minutes beforehand).

I used my risk factors to support the clinic. The woman actually said that people who have risk factors should stay home - in a medical setting! SMH
The clinic doesn't do anything like cosmetics either other than the basics like wart removal.

She really thinks that healthy people should have the priority for medical care?!

Candle Lake is beautiful with great beaches. Camp Tapawingo is on the south end of the Lake, possibly the best church camp where I have volunteered. Meadow Lake Provincial Park is also very beautiful with several lakes. I have camped at Lac Des Isles and Kimball Lake. The Qu'Appelle valley north east of Regina is one of my sacred places. Meadow Lake could be on your way to the Peace.

We cancelled our plans to go West this fall because of fuel prices. We will have to make the trip next year. Going to a wedding on Hornby Island this June means we do not need to go farther west than Alberta next year.
Yay for Tapawingo. We went there when hubby was asked to instruct at a Sailing Camp. We had two toddlers and a small baby at the time. if I recall correctly Great fun.

All four of our kids attended and enjoyed it.

We don't enjoy the rest of Candle Lake though. Too developed and crowded for us tree huggers. We like the undeveloped sites at Narrow Hills PP and Prince Albert NP.

Selfish idiot. Clueless people like her annoy me. Thankfully I don't have to deal with them in person much.

We were on the ferry yesterday. Hubby and I wore masks. We were sitting in one area and there was an older couple behind us. I heard her say she thought they hadn't done the test properly. He said he just wants to taste again. She also said they will need to do another test before they visit their friend. And we were sitting in the row in front of them. Thankfully he was wearing a mask. We were as well. Hopefully that and our vaccines will protect me.

All health facilities in BC require masks as per the provincial health orders. Our vet requires masks as well. They are not under provincial orders. I haven't heard issues. There are signs outside these establishments that say masks are still required. That being said, when I was at the hospital for a bone scan a couple of weeks ago, there was a woman in the waiting area without a mask. Not sure how that was okay.

I confess I loathe wearing one.

I feel so much safer wearing one. At the moment, I'm feeling much friendlier towards masked customers than the unmasked. I do confess, though, to feeling pleased that we've unilaterally decided to open the back doors of our acrylic "cages"; better air circulation, and less fiddling with inadequate solutions to the closing apparatus (structurally insecure due to length/width/weight of material including a "doorway" with little silicone hinges...not meant to last two plus years.

Good morning! As the mask question raises itself up again (personally, I don't know why it is still a question), as friends in the Ottawa area deal with rolling thunder, as we bring a bunch of other topics and concerns to the coffee cart, let us gather round and find community. Coffee is perked, tea water is ready. Come and get it.

Ide Oh See is a penetrating vision ... more so that intellect thus we are degraded! But protocol deters that ... as though is inhibited by preferences ...

The bulk of the body of humanity would to prefer to be unaware and thus a vast unknown ... self-generated? We are the enemy ... I've even had orders to shut up and retire about things experienced in the swamp ...

Sad day yesterday....The 'talking' dog Pluto died. It reminded me of what a journey this Covid thing has been. At the beginning, I had my miniature schnauzer, Faith, and we went for walks three times a day. Sometimes people would look at her and smile and say "Pluto" because she looked exactly like the Pluto we learned to love on videos. They were close to the same age, and had some of the same issues, so I knew that Pluto's time would soon be up. Doesn't make it easier. Her owner, Nancie White, did a great job bringing humour and kindness when it was needed most.

Ditto here although some clinics aren't saying anything to people who show up without one. This clinic was.
In my experience in SK those who show up without a mask are told to put one on. A boxful is right there. Those wearing a mask are told to put on a fresh one. Haven't heard of any problems.

The same happens here though our local hospital lets you keep the mask you're wearing if it's new

Most clinics here do not require a fresh mask, I can't think of one that I have been to which requires that. Many wear cloth masks. It's just the hospitals that wants people wearing a new, disposable mask.

I just had a nice visit with a childhood friend. We went to Brownies together and were friends until she moved to BC as a teen. We've kept in touch through that time. We've both been treated for breast cancer. It's always nice to visit and catch up.

Good morning! Sorry to hear of a loss of a furry friend, nice to hear about reconnections with childhood friends, and talk about the masking situations in several settings. As we do these and other conversations, let us gather round the coffee table, where all is ready.

More than furry friends have died ... some insecure in their's kin ... rye failure? Naked virtue escapes them ... especially in a world founded on what lies out there ... mores the same ... without a stick can one rise?

How else to bludgeon the neighbour irrationally ... dispose of conned science ... to get around blind faith? IC nought ... connections missed?
