In some circles ... labour is to be reduced and eliminated to impossible lengths ... when you considier a marketplace without coine!

A mire mental exchange of what the excessively elevated in physical wealth see as a downer ...

In the land of quarks and quirks ... up may be down as in abstract domains it is said there are no ups or downs as a strange, charmed thought ... and there are tops and bottom lines to the exchange ... thus some are laid out giggling about being out of it for a bit!

What it they are not insane and we are? Thus the we/they syndrome unresolvable in real time --- a word from s outa here and now?

What do you see as a solution?
In general for workers? Perhaps better oversight in general when it comes to workers' rights, layoffs and firings. May help too with employees who do abusive things, seems like too often people are let go and hired elsewhere repeating abuses.

In terms of the masking?
At this point, keeping in legal mask requirements in general. I wish it hadn't been so politicized in the first place, I washed my hands and used hand sanitizer on a regular basis before and people would rarely comment on that - typically just my parents. Masking could have been similar if leaders had set good examples.

Examples are pertinent ... consider the examples set by monarchists (of all sorts), militant beliefs systems, and mercenary systems with no mercy with the profit margins observed as top line commissions ... creating some suicidal trends in the populace!

I know folk tha believe killing the neighbour is best ... and don;t know about the action/reaction law in nature ... thus it returns! Everything does as if it were an idealism ... metaphor of God? What are the dark odds gamma ... thus we are hung there as the Hebrew gimel! The stories of Ur go on and on ... few grasp thus lost understanding ... you can see it go ...

Ugh, Edmonton's wastewater has shot up again. I wish we could get more timely data, it is from 2 days ago, I think it was added at some point today, the one before that was on the 23th. I am guessing it's now exponential growth, but with so few data points it's difficult to tell. Calgary seemed to be in a (slightly) worse situation this past week, but there latest point leveled off.

With the 5th wave, things just shot up without the noise. Edmonton has surprised all of the levels in 2021 minus the last week of the year.

No more social outings for us for a while, although I am still ok seeing my sister's family. Had I known where this past weekend would have fallen with the data, I would have said no to Chemguy. The reading right before wasn't even posted though. He will test today, fingers crossed that is clear. I'm having a bit of a rough day, but it's within my usual range.

I don't expect this wave to actually last very long, due to the amount of people with immunity from the last wave.

Covid seems to be spreading all around me- son contacted me, saying three people are out with it at work, but one of them came back after three days (7 days are mandatory in NS), his employer doesn’t care because that worker has a position crucial to the work place and nobody else knows how to do the job.
I left a message on a public health phone, but nobody called me back.
some of my coworkers are out for being close contacts, waiting PCR on third day. I am kinda relieved I am not in the middle of it. Definitely don’t want covid inmy present stage of recovery.
Had a friend over with mask on to help me with some housework.

I definitely cannot get this now. Coughing is completely out of the question. I had a minor single cough a few hours ago that I swear set me back two or three days (I was not clutching my hot water bottle at the right angle...).

Hope you can stay healthy! You're not going to be walking through a casino or anything like that I take it. Maybe you can be given a safer option at work when you do return too for a while?

Another wave is on us, or coming ... and business demands we continue to function as economy and wealth accumulation is more important than the populace ... thus the three powers governing us:
  1. Government of whatever kind
  2. Their rate of income (belief in what's known or unknown)
  3. Belief in business to extract sufficiently from the bottom line in inflationary mode
Beyond that the bottom line is about to fail ... and few see it coming as they puff up ... a kind of lizard brain has taken over as the surviving debris drags on ... they worry about recession when the obvious appears depressing ... except for the powers of denial which can take us into an abstract hole if virtue is not in mind it must be out there. The powers say don't go; as they hate to be alone while wishing to be the last man standing out in their private field (once known as a Wahl).

One may get the impression that one should let the entire physical possession go and drift off in essence ... let us vegetate on that a bit ... becoming an unmoving mover as item to cast a shadow ... and without doubt we know little of eternal concerns! Thus fallout and fallacy ...

I appreciated your use of lizard brain to describe how businesses and governments are making decisions. Short term self interest drives long term grief

Probably this needs another thread, but I would argue businesses and governments think that way because humans naturally think that way. And until the rise of organized, managed communities ("civilizations" or "societies" in the conventional parlance) about 8-10K years ago, it was an evolutionary advantage. As wild apes on the African savannas or hunter-gatherers, we had no need to think past the next meal or the next run-in with a bear or lion. The concept of what happens two cycles of the sun from now hardly mattered, let alone 10 or 100 cycles of the sun. It was the ability to think longterm that was one of our eventual advantages that allowed organized societies to happen, but short-term "lizard brain" thinking probably kept a lot of us alive for much of the time that our species has been around. And still does in many places and situations. So I would say that we can't really blame institutions that are built by us in our image. Change needs to start with us and that will change our institutions.

Which goes back to a point I have made before, which is that we need to stop pretending we are not animals. We are. Our last common ancestor with chimps was something like 5-6 million years ago (I think, might be misremembering), which is yesterday in geological and evolutionary terms. Our "lizard brain" isn't something we can get rid of, it is something we need to understand and work with. It is a natural, normal part of us that is actually necessary in many situations.

I would also add that things like businesses and governments could not exist in a world where there was only short-term thinking. They themselves are a product of our ability to thing longterm, to look past the next meal or three. We need to make them work better, but derisively tossing around terms like "lizard brain" doesn't really help with that and actually demeans an important part of being human.

In the concept of the demiurge there is a sense of 2 parts to ongoing concerns ... some take the anima and others the animus that is constructed of 9 weird spirits ...
Few believe that as they fall back on bestial behaviour and thus thought process departs in search of the heart ... diabolical to those that cannot accept competing spirits in the word beyond our cognizance. That's just out there like farce Ides and cosmological nonsense (great trickster)?

Some declare thoughts do not count and only emotions and what they wreck can count .. as part and parcel of the unknowing mind within as an unconscious item ... pure abstract!

Virtue is truly out of here just now ... gone with classic philosophers once known as mystics or other metaphor ... they peek into Machiavellian presentments to see what is hidden there ...

Responses to myths assist in observation of character constructs ... imaginary matter or immaterial?

Sort of good news. The eligibility criteria for Paxlovid and Sotrovimab actually includes more than what is posted. The wording on the website seems to be quite clear about how limited it is though, and certainly doesn't encourage people to call if they are questioning if they could access PCR testing and then one of these options if it's positive.
I also spoke to multiple people within Alberta Health and AHS, none of them were aware of the broader eligibility rules and most directed me to what was on the website. Even the person who informed me took over a week to determine the real rules.

Perhaps actually calling to make an appointment would have had a different result. I had no desire to tie up that line though, I know calling relating to any symptoms is often an hours long wait.

Access isn't really access if the strict rules stand. I have requested the wording be changed.
I'm not sure of the source, maybe the update yesterday. I think the number was 385 Albertans have been prescribed Paxlovid, no numbers on Sotrovimab were given with wherever it was I picked up that stat. 135 pharmacies and only 385 people gaining access isn't a great ratio. We had over 3000 courses of treatment in the initial shipment.

Paxlovid will now be available at pharmacies across Alberta, not just selected ones. I don't think that's the big barrier to access though.

Ah found this, not what I read before, but is fairly consistent.
I also hadn't heard the discussion of Sotrovimab. That's not great.

WHO has published a report that the Pfizer vaccine, can cause hearing loss and tinnitus in rare cases.
367 cases of tinnitus and 164 cases of hearing loss out of 11 billion jabs. So extremely rare.
Data is still limited and WHO will continue to monitor because it hasn't been listed as a side effect yet.

I'm a bit skeptical of that one - especially Pfizer being different from Moderna. It's possible, especially if it's inactive ingredients to blame but more examination is needed. For one, it's so rare it's hard to tweeze it out from the background. Tinnitus isn't all that uncommon, I think people are just more likely to say something after a vaccine. I also wonder about the environment. Where I went for my vaccine would be different than say the expo center and other countries may have even had noisier locations from that.

Tinnitus is rare from that but I wonder about all the baling and whining from the bulls in militant, business belief systems (in chorus) cause deaf ears ... and still they demand more from the flatliners ... an impossible dream or just endless hoping ...

Does avarice destroy the gentiles? And the Juice IDe continues unknowingly accounting for the unconscious soul? In reality all have addictions so thought can be disposed of as difficult to handle ... it burns differently ... another quirk ... if only there were a balanced objective ... yet so much is subjective thus the outside I becomes a different homologue! It creeps ... may resemble S. Kings spooky automobile ... a item consuming our thoughts and placid desires ... and this to get out of where?

Yesterday I choose to miss a planned activity with a group of about ten. It was in an enclosed space too small to stay apart from each other. Hubby went - and said two people stayed away with Covid infections and two others stayed home after being in contact.
