Novel Coronavirus

I have heard one of the anti-mask anti-vaccine etc. Calgary protest organizers was in the ICU with COVID and died. Treating doctor told a friend who is a doctor who told a patient ... you get the idea.
I can't find anything for reliable info.

As the world drones on about efficiency ... reliable intelligence and information (NU's) is reduced to a wisp over a well ... type of hole in the ground effect ... may be supportive if not denied! Thus supportive of Eire ... a fractioned people ... divisively it appears!

Mental aberration is incarnate ... so one doesn't believe in nothing ... where thoughts have departed ... emotions rise in a tempest ... brain storm?

Quickly read this so maybe I missed it, but I was a bit surprised that a possibility that isn't listed is these patients have both. Ie. Not that Deltacron is 1 virus, but that patients who have COVID have both Delta and Omicron at the same time.

With how contagious Omicron is, to me it wouldn't be surprising that those who currently have Delta could also pick up Omicron. Especially those in the hospital, who say went to the emergency room with Delta and picked up Omicron while there, or actually contracted both at once at something like a hockey game.

Sequencing could potentially end up with both results in 1 sample in a patient who had both. There are ways to look into the potential multiple sequences of virus from one person in more detail.

The update today was just .... defeated I guess.
Dr. Hinshaw was doing it herself. It was pretty much brace yourself for the hospital system to be overwhelmed. If you have COVID at home and you can manage do not call your doctor to document it, doctors are too busy to deal with it. Why aren't there more restrictions in place? Because she is not the one making the decisions (actual Q&A).
I do think she is pro-schools being in person but there's a whole lot of other things she would change if it was her decision to make.

People continue to be totally stupid as this continues. One of my grands is in a relationship with someone who has two kids from a previous relationship. So far my grand, the partner and the kids have stayed safe from the virus. The kids were scheduled to stay with their dad at the weekend. When he returned them he said he had just posted Positive for Covid. He was surprised because he had been told to isolate for several days and use rapid tests until today. Yesterday's test was positive - but by then he had spent a couple of days with the little guys! No Daycare for them until they get negative tests for the required time period. Presumably my grand and his partner will be expected to stay home from work too (without pay probably!).

Can you believe that such authoritative folks can live the story of naivete? Then there is the alien ... disbelieved by the authorities as they are repulsed by intellect from out there. Such is the catch 22 or diabolical thing to learn how to avoid in your mind ... physically you can't so all this goes on metaphysically (abstract)!

Will catch the update today, but it sounds like the federal government is being a bit slow with getting the pills out to the provinces, not sure why it's not happening within 48 hors.

i would like to know the paxlovid critieria that provinces will use at the beginning, it sounds like the supply isn't that large to start with. I would think LTC would be easier to get to than individual residents so they may stick with sotrovimab, plus there is less contraindications for it. Not sure thought which works better, and in which populations that would likely factor into the decision one would hope.

ETA - Only enough to treat 30000 people in the country for now.

To begin, who should get it?
My thoughts.
1. Rrserves in remote areas if testing can be done quickly, I trust the federal government to be capable of sorting that out if they take that route.
2. Anyone with a major risk factor who cannot be vaccinated.
3. For vaccinated have a risk formula done. Include information with who benefits well from this. As supply increases we can lower the threshold for this value.
4. Unvaccinated with risk factors.

It sounds like the supply is unlikely to make a dent in hospitalizations so I'm for helping those who are making good decisions. Probably of the government using this method? Close to zilch.

It will be interesting to see what similarities & differences there are between provinces. Fed gov has been pretty clear in its suggestions for initial use. I think if we keep in mind the goal is to prevent hospitalization, each prov probably has a pretty good idea who's most at risk for hospitalization & hopefully will administer accordingly. The hospitals are so stretched & their staffs are so exhausted - I hope this will help.

I stumbled across this Dr. Campbell from Britain this week on youtube. He's put out some pretty interesting, and IMO informative videos on various aspects of COVID.

Will point out though that at home tests aren't great if one qualifies for pre-hospitalization treatment. PCR tests pick up a positive test a few days earlier. Timeframe that PCR testing can be completed is a factor. For now, at least here a positive PCR test is required for those who are not in a group living setting. Waiting for a positive at home test then booking a PCR test is certainly not the way to do it.

The ivermectin mention seems sketchy. I'm not certain of all the supplements he suggests, would be nice if studies were referenced.

Fluvoxamine is questionable, a study in Canada was stopped due to adverse effects.

I also don't think exposure is a guarantee. If one can wait out the wave without being exposed, the risk of coming across someone who is infected after that is lowered.

Some of the comorbidity aspects need to be done with care too. Optimizing the treatment for all conditions isn't optimal when it comes to viral infections. This isn't just my opinion, it has clearly been stated procedures are being delayed for people who are in hospital for them but are also positive for COVID, as the treatments aren't a good idea when sick with COVID.

Later on yes. I think right now though the supply isn't high enough. It's more of an individual benefit for those who can get it rather than a benefit for the healthcare system overall. I don't think picking an unvaccinated person with risk factors over someone who is immunocompromised is going to help society.

I'm also for giving people as many reasons as possible to get vaccinated, there still are adult stragglers getting their 1st dose. Hearing they can't get paxlovid if they choose to remain unvaccinated may be just 1 more reason. That likely does have larger impacts.

Seriously, he is recommending Ivermectin!!!

There is a group that states such authority should not be questioned ... and there again evidence of human flaw ... perfection is beyond us! Only if out of it can one see it ...

The the authority will tell you to not go there ...

I watched part of one of Dr Campbell's videos and then have had others show up in my YouTube feed. I haven't been able to watch more because he seems to support discredited treatments or approaches.

Imagine some off the hand authorities ... maybe out of hand when coming to wisdom?
