The knowledge that seems most lacking is understanding probabilities.
I understand probabilities well, I like probabilities. In bio I ended up deriving the Hardy-Weinberg equation myself during a test as our teacher didn't look over a test well before leaving it with a sub and we hadn't covered that yet, we were still on the basic punnet squares at the time. I remember the teacher's expression when I ended up with bonus marks as she just omitted the question in the grading - amazement with a little bit of fear like what type of weird math monster is in my class. Most students were still struggling with things like green is 50% likely, wrinkled is 25% likely, how likely is it to be both? And the teacher wasn't someone who was great with numbers herself.
I distinctly remember covering the false negative/false positive medical testing issue in math in high school Ie. When someone has a positive test and it's something that is rare it's not uncommon for a false negative to be more likely than correct positive.

I also know it becomes pretty meaningless when you don't fit the norm and there isn't much information.
How likely is it for someone to have HAE due to a de novo mutation and then also have hepatic adenomatosis? Incredibly small. How likely is it a few doctors will say you have metastatic disease when you don't even have cancer? Not great. When you have HA? Probability jumps up, no one publishes that though.

Imagine coming up with Math to eliminate digressions from the norm that are not well liked by the researcher!

I believe we discussed that in a thread where endogeneity was discussed (stats vs what was desired)! Few understand as intellect is religiously denied ...

From online German Tagesspiegel: translated:

Patient on the left:“Possible side effects: GI tract ulcers, deadly haemorrhages, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, stomach ulcers, stroke, high blood pressure, oedema, CHF, heart attacks, encephalopathy, head ache, fever, stiff neck, change of consciousness, swollen tongue, contracture of airways, shock, arrhythmia, psychotic spells, depression, neurological symptoms, dizziness, tiredness, sleeplessness, irritability, symptoms of hearing loss, tinnitus, heartburn, stomach ache, inflammation of the esophagus, bloody stools, liver damage, hepatitis, hair loss, kidney failure.”
“ Is that the patient education from the Moderna or the Biontech vaccine?”

Physician on the right: “ It’s the one from Ibuprofen!”

No joke!

This is another area where information about the probability of risks and indicators such as age or other health issues would be helpful. When I donated my kidney, I was told to avoid Ibuprofen as it can damage kidneys, but was not told how. However, muscle and joint aches and migraines respond better to Ibuprofen than acetominephen. So I use a little some times. I also limit how much acetominephen I use as I have known for a long time how dangerous it is to the liver.

And that's the key. Used with due caution and following the package directions, ibuprofen and acetominephen are safe.

Part of the problem we have with it now is that it is buried in some many other medications. Multi-ingredient medications like "cold-flu" pills often have it. Hidden acetominephen is something that drug regulators probably need to take a hard look at. In fact. I was looking for a decongestant one time and finding one that didn't have a bunch of other drugs, including acetominephen, in it was actually difficult.

Most people have no idea of the bad side of common meds.

Most folks have no idea about the bad side of anything due to repulsion of negative information about things that are not fully good ... unless you can impress then on the alternate 1's ... thus they are on the other side and may come back winging it! That's reflection ...

Then one begins to question how much the authorities know about information repressed in due time!

OTOH, my favorite homemade bath salt is made of epsom salts, baking soda and some dried powdered ginger...

Just when you thought things couldn't get nuttier

I couldn't watch all of this. But hey if people want to go get vaccinated and take a baking soda/Epsom salt bath afterwards I'm good with that.

Maybe this even started with someone provaccine and is just going with whatever info works...

David Pakman is commenting on what people are doing. He's noting a trend where people are getting vaccinated in order to keep their jobs, then are proceeding to try to be "unvaccinated"

Teresa Tam has now informed us all that the Covid virus is airborne and we should be wearing N95 masks or at least tightly fitting ones....REALLY? Also we should be distancing further away from each other than previously thought. (Think cigarette smoke and how it travels through the air and lingers.) Weve known this for a year and it's supposed to be news?
So great she's catching up with the rest of us, but it does seem odd to be telling us this at the same time we are opening up more crowded spaces.
Seems irresponsible to me to make this announcement loudly this time against a noticeably quiet announcement last year.
So Teresa Tam, what are you going to promote differently or will it all stay the same?

Got a source? What I'm seeing isn't suggesting general respirator use.

I don't actually think we can really say the 2 travel the same. For example, I can smell smoke with my windows closed when driving when someone is smoking in a vehicle 2 or 3 ahead of me at a stoplight. Living in an apartment I could easily smell smoke from others.
We're not seeing that with transmission. Airborne? Sure. Doesn't spread as easily as the negative effects from smoke do.

I didnt say it, it was a doctor talking after Teresa Tam.

 Would love to see the evidence that backs that one!
Generally we just don't see that type of transmission. There was a condo in Calgary that was in the news for a while for a large outbreak, but I never saw any reliable source suggest it was being transmitted between multiple units and building outbreaks weren't common. My grandma's ward had a COVID outbreak, she was tested numerous times, had pneumonia but never COVID.
