Good morning! As we remember those affected by fires and tornadoes, as we swat-and-swear at the little (and not so little) bloodsuckers, let us join in spirit round the coffee cart, where hot, restoring beverages flow. All is ready, come and get it.

We're nowhere near the tornado. We've experienced a few bouts of VERY heavy rain.

@Mendalla you have mentioned your favourite local tea places. Do you know a source of Irish Breakfast tea?

Tea Haus in Covent Garden Market (up on the mezzanine). I have some of their Irish Breakfast in the cupboard right now, in fact.

I had a struggle with the cat this morning- as I was leaving the house- she was already outside! Must have gotten out somehow through the catio. I was very worried and grabbed her, only got the tail- outch, got scratched and bitten heavily, she defended herself like a tiger. Probably should have just opened the door and gotten out the treats, but I was so worried about the pitbulls next door getting her.
So I checked my tetanus vaccination at the nurse at work and got one from her ( was due in six months anyway). Too many wounds too cover with bandaids, put put two on the worst ones- and they swelled up pretty badly. One nurse said I should go to outpatients and get antibiotics- by then my hands felt like I had a gout attack. Got my antibiotics and thankfully it wasn’t a busy day, so my coworker could cover me. Home now and put polysporin on all of them. Wanted to get those antibiotics in me as soon as I could. Hands still super sore/ achy.
Cat let me pat her head but when I wanted to feel towards tail she hissed and keeps looking at me with suspicion.

Our former cat did that to my husband @Mrs.Anteater . I'm glad you got some antibiotics. He didn't and ended up with an infection. Cat bites are high risk for infection. Heal well.

Hopefully the pain eases up soon! Good that you were able to get them treated quickly.

Ouch, Mrs. A! Cats remind us how not really very domesticated they are in these circumstances. Good thing you work in the right environment for rapid treatment.

Good morning, all! As we give thanks for those who are safe from cyclones, and remember those who aren't, and deal with pet wildcats, let us pause and join in hot beverages of all sorts, as the Coffee Cart is up and running. Enjoy the drinks and the company.

Talking about cats, here are some mice, marshmallow style, which have been fabricated in Berlin for 100 years and were a typical treat we would pick up as penny candy on the way to school. They are the size of a real mouse.

They are almost too cute to eat. But life-sized marshmallow mice? That could be a lot of marshmallow depending on what species they are based on.

So the deadline in the writing competition I mentioned looms and I still don't have a story. Now wondering if I just give up. As a past winner and someone who really pushed to save the site back when it looked like it was going away, I feel kind of obligated to be part of it. OTOH, I have 2/3 of a story and just can't come up with an ending that feels right to save my soul. I am starting to feel a bit stressed about something that is supposed to be a hobby, ie. something I do for fun.

You might think about posting what you've done and asking for a "muse boost". It might break open some ideas for you?

Yeah, it's something I thought about. Might have hit the jackpot two nights ago and didn't know it, though. I reread a draft from Thursday where I went in a different direction and it actually hung together pretty well. Part of the problem has been writing in the evening. My brain just does not work well later in the day, the price I pay for being a "morning person" who often rises before 7.
