We've had a nice driving day and are settled into our spot for the night. There's a severe thunderstorm watch for this area. Hopefully there will be more rain than lightning. This province does not need lightning

Speaking of lightning - I heard an interesting thing about the wildfires - they can produce significant smoke (of course) which then creates clouds, which then produce lightning & spark additional fires! Hopefully you will have lots of rain Northwind - it surely is needed.

Thunderstorm watch ended before any storm appeared. That's interesting about smoke causing lightning.

Emergency rooms can be ... interesting.
Ended up going due to allergic reaction - mostly eczema but it came on hard and fast, eye swelling, lips very raw. HAE hit while I was there. Skin integrity on one side of my face was compromised pretty badly, there was difficulties with getting the mask off to examine me.

The eczema was apparently a screen to put me into the possible covid symptoms. I got isolated from most people though due to allergies, keeping me away from scented products, so I got slotted to the EMS area. Someone else decided to join me there until an EMT showed up and barked at both of us. No apology when I said I was told to be there but she at least gave a curt nod.

When I was taken back to be put in a room, someone with a green sticker in a wheelchair (green meaning non-covid screen) wasn't kept distanced from me. He/his family delayed me getting into a room. He was there with other people, a woman and a child. The woman was hollering instructions, apparently the older child needed to find another kid who was in the hospital too - no clue what was going on there. In general I felt like there was way too many people there unnecessarily. I think another woman was there with her child for the children's emergency room, but she kept walking over to her (husband?) who seemed to be waiting in the adults emergency room, but instead of going up to him to talk, she was start hollering across the waiting room. She was told numerous times to stop, but she kept doing that. The guy in the stretch with the EMT who barked at me seemed to be quite comfortable, having a non-stressed conversation as far as I could tell on his cell.

Once I got put into a room - throat swell in place, no one came for a good period of time. I flagged someone down for an alcohol swab (he handed it to me, no questions asked), mixed up the blood product so it was ready to go and then I actually fell asleep for a while. Funnily, after the throat swell had been treated, someone stopped in as she saw I was flagged for HAE and asked if I had a call button ready - nope, it was hidden in with the instruments in the room, tucked up. Probably should have had that for the hour or so I had sat in the room untreated - it was early in progression though, I would have walked out into the hall. They are used to seeing people there with the 0 to can't breathe though.

Once I actually had people treating me, I felt taken care of. HAE treatment was first. They also drew some blood and ran tests that night - not totally sure what they were looking for other than massive infection, but some of the tests wouldn't be related. Then I had benadryl and cortisone IV drips, plus pictures taken and sent to my doctor. Doctor, resident, 2 nurses plus the person who got me the call button - unsure of her position. None seemed concerned about my potential COVID positive screen, as they were taking off my mask multiple times, up close. Was also questioned about how I would get home after the benadryl drip. Prednisone argument never even came up! Was pleasantly surprised, the doctor who I first saw about this (not a dermatologist) was very pro-prednisone and said if things got bad to go to the emergency room for that. Everyone who treated me also made it sound like I should have been there, that I shouldn't have waited until after the weekend to get medications (prior to throat swell, obviously that's a non-wait issue).

I'm still confused by the number of people there though. I kind of liked it when people were afraid to go to the hospital! 1 support person I get, especially with being driven. I also understand bringing young children as child care can't always be arranged in an emergency. There seemed to be a lot of people crossing from the children's hospital to the adults though, including someone pushing a stroller, casually, unmasked. It was like they wouldn't use that exit for some reason. Another person was running back and forth between the 2 rooms, and then they would sit back down in the adult area. 2 other adults were chatting cheerfully, walking around the waiting room, not sticking to their designated sticker area.

It was busy, and there were people who obviously needed to be there. Heard - not saw - one guy who had his throat slashed by his ex, they needed a special tourniquet style device to manage that. I felt like there were a lot of people though, looking cheerful, chattering away, either on their cells or to others there, walking around, etc. as patients. Like why are you there?

Good morning! As we ponder fires and travel, and our thoughts for the safety and well being of people affected by them, let us bring our concerns and hopes to the coffee cart, in mutual support. All is ready, come and get it.

Is the general populace a bit insane? Does such essence rub off as a social dis ease ...

What possibility is there we can smarten up?

Someone relayed to me that Karl Rahner once stated that in a social group there was no room for stoic fanatics ... the insinuation being that they were not fluid enough to learn anything about God (the great unknown)!

I once served breakfast to a well known evangelist and his family for a week; one of hos comments concerned why common folk doing question their authority more thoroughly ...

Unquestionability appears to go one as easy as nothing ... thus the power of nothing and the consequence thereof ...

Yet we can say what we will about the state of naivete being somewhat accusative of the ignorant ... freedom without responsibility?

Is the response latent ... and comes back at yah in a future time?

There are lots of walk in clinics around.
London has several walk-ins and a couple urgent cares, one of which is in St. Joe's hospital and used to be an ER so can handle injuries and stuff as well as sniffles and aches. I don't really think there is any excuse for visiting the ER for non-urgent matters.

My new family doc is part of a family health team and they run their own after hours clinic for their patients, which is a nice bonus. Our old doc paid to allow us to use a local after hours practice (he could either pay or work some hours there and decided he would rather pay).

And the local pediatricians used to run a walk-in specifically for children. We even got our own pediatrician once or twice taking Little M there. Not sure if it is still around or not. Used to be near us but the doctor's office they used closed so I am not sure where they are now (not having kids under 16 anymore, it hasn't been a concern).

Plus here there are a good number of prescribing pharmacists around.

For what I went in for, I probably would have tried an urgent clinic but they are all far away within the city. No idea what they would have done with the HAE factoring in.

Good Morning! Happy Wednesday! Travels and meetings with Wonderfriends, Willie Nelson earworms and all sorts of other topics to discuss, let us gather in spirit round the coffee cart, where there are hot bevvies of all kinds, conversation and support, and maybe even some muffins, doughnuts, etc. Enjoy.

And be not curious about nothing as it is kind've ethereal and out there ... with a great drawing power ...

The early church believed extended curiosity was evil as it went against stoic law ... in a whole array of variants .... so be cautious about what you learna bout extreme stretches of what is a thing (with mass an volume)! The question about what is an*on thing raises it's head ... and then we learn anon at one time meant it was coming ... and it came to pass ...

Still what do we know of eternal mysterious? With stoics this question was dropped creating fallacy ... of reasonable investigation about topics beyond fixation! Stuff to be discussed at out next discussion with the publican ... the word can sometimes be pure chaos ... given the enforced misunderstandings ... echos from the arches of time? Then that author raised the old idea of a time machine that grinds all ... like a big wheel overhead ... Ad on ... or perhaps adoni ... a beau yet unseen ... may be the source of a draw or even druid .... past ence ...

Good morning! Rainy day here this morning, looking for more rain, quite a bit of it, and thunderstorms this afternoon. However the wether outsiode will not dampen the spirit inside. The coffee cart is up and ready. Come and get it.
