It is a sad statement though. The USA has now begun to protect itself against us
Chile would tell us not to expect this all to stop even with the vaccines.....and they are the most vaccinated country in the world who are now experiencing rising numbers.

Got an email from a friend. Her daughter lives and works in NYC. 33 years old. Works from home. Get her second doe on May 14. Second dose!!

here, in her home town of Toronto she would not yet even qualify to get on a list for a first dose

Yes, you're right.....they are ahead. This is the article I read:

As we have heard before, in order for vaccinations to work, at least 75 % of the population have to have their vaccination protection- so, 3% protection in 40% of the population is as good as nothing.
That’s why I am weary about having the second shots in Canada so far apart. I really have been lucky to had had mine at the original schedule through work. Though I heard a rumor that a third one will be required....

My understanding if the 3rd isn't about getting full protection but moreso about ongoing protection plus there's a good chance the 3rd won't be the same as the 1st 2, but will be altered to better match variants.

I'm with you though I have concerns about the schedule being used across Canada.

We are only having this lag of second doses because of shortages. That will change when we get more doses. Suddenly we will have a new policy. its frustrating,

I really don't get the distribution to the provinces. AB got a shipment today, per capita we still have one of the smallest quantities, right now 2 of the Atlantic provinces have less per capita, but I don't know how they are about updating quantities.
Out of everyone accepting international flights, here is almost always the least amount.

Where I got my vaccine was in a community centre and it was very well set up and efficient. I even got my vaccine from a doctor which surprised me.
Today the only effect I've had is a bit of soreness around the injections site. No headaches or chills....possibly a bit more fatique but not much, just slept very well.

a shout out to our county health unit and their hockey hubs!
Great model. I heard of a similar one in North York @ one of the hospitals - the person stays put & staff come to them. Much easier for people who have mobility challenges.

I'm really bothered that the 'pop up' clinics in Toronto hot spots are seeing all people on a first come, first jabbed basis - people are lining up outdoors for many hours in all kinds of weather. It does seem that a pop-up registration system should be possible. IF there is an issue with access by phone or online to book appts, then I think there might be a hybrid system put in place - some for first come, some for pre-registered appts. Or why can't people come by & get an appt time to return if they wish, rather than being made to wait outside endlessly. Seems to me unfair to many, possibly discriminatory. Could you imagine people in wealthier areas of Toronto being made to line up for 3-4 hours?

That did walk ins at some but the scheduled appointments are also still happening here.

London's chief medical officer is suggesting "At Risk" health conditions, which includes me, might open for booking next week.Right now, highest risk and high risk are open. The question will be what dates are open by then. This could be for getting a shot in mid-May or something. He is also suggesting that because it is a fairly big group, they may split it up. Though the flip side is that a lot of people in that group have probably been picked up by age (i.e. are over 60) or are over 40 and will go to a pharmacy for AZ. So I wonder if it is really as big as they are thinking.

They are changing plans for 2nd doses here gor those on certain medications, very specific. I don't think any immunodeficiencies were included, a bit surprised although I was only half listening.
