Alberta is joining the four months between doses group. Alberta to delay second doses

I also got clarification of when I can expect to get my first dose. I'll be able to register online later this month for early April. That is earlier than for my age group.
Consent wise only for appointments that are made after March 10. Those who have them booked already or will make them soon stay on evidence based schedule. I do hope more information comes soon. This is a large scale experiment. There isn't much for data on the mRNA 2nd doses at these timeframes. Dr. Fauci has spoken out against delaying the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines but their situation is different.

There is emerging evidence and data that supports this. It also fits with vaccine research in general according to Dr Henry and her peers. There may be an argument for stronger immunity with a longer interval. The second dose is essentially a booster shot isn't it.

What's the evidence about the 2nd dose - not just the first?

I do also find it interesting that even now dosing differences for different populations hasn't been examined more. Again, not something I am all for on a large-scale without more studies, but we do know different populations respond differently and there are papers that in general state that it's something that could be done for situations like this.

I feel though like there's a huge hesitancy to treat people differently with dosing although I don't understand why completely. We do it with prioritization, with who gets what but it's like there's this big barrier in place about the possibility of different people getting different amounts.

Question asked around 14:30 - there isn't evidence for this Pfizer & Moderna vaccine regarding the 2nd shots being delayed so long. Earlier it was all about 1st doses and elsewhere that's what I'm hearing for the reasoning too.

Hmm interesting, the outbreak of a variant that currently has 27 cases had vaccinations done on Monday. I wonder if the vaccination contributed to spread (people going from resident to resident) - or if the same number of cases would have occurred anyway. Hopefully it will still prevent some cases there.

Phase 2A starts on the 15th here. And they are splitting up booking dates to avoid the booking issues. 65+/50+ for Indigenous. 2 year increments for booking, we'll see if that reduces the overload on the system. I think it will help but not avoid it entirely.

AstraZeneca delivery has been confirmed, it's going to health adults 64 and under. So it will start with the 50-64 year olds. This allows people in phase 2D to jump up starting March 10 if they choose to get this one soon.
They will not use it in congregant living situations as it may have higher rates of asymptomatic infection so the possibility of people there to pass on the virus to others who are high risk.

oooh, i would fit into that group -- single dose.
I probably will wait a bit, as I would want those who have to go to work to get their vaccines first, then, I will try to book if it is offered in Ontario.
we shall see.

Too late for my plans, anyway. The guy I was working on not infecting is no longer...

Actually, I wouldn't mind getting the virus and breathing, hard, on the crazy woman who comes to our store and won't wear a mask. Makes me mad.

I am hearing of vaccines and people being vaccinated. I'm curious, are others not?
I get that you may not, personally but, do you feel that you should be a priority

I was really happy to hear of the vaccines going to the far north. If the virus gets into the space, the consequences would be devastating.
I am thankful to hear that the vaccines are being given to 80+ in the community. Keep reading posts from folks who got it, or are getting (ahead of the Ontario registration).

I am also thankful that there are 500k vaccines showing up on our door that could be used to give to people who are lesser priority, but good candidates.

I have no idea when I will be vaccinated.
I have no reliable info about who gets the next shipment.
I haven't heard anything about whether older adults get a dose before or after the slightly younger folks with pre existing conditions.
No one seems to know how or when the housebound people will get 'done'.
No one seems to know whether the mass clinics will be suitable for those with less obvious mobility problems.

Presumably I'll get vaccinated sometime, but I prefer to know what is going to happen ahead of time.

My 90 year old neighbours got their letter today about the vaccination times and places. It says: If you are allergic to any of the components in the vaccine, talk to your doctor. Unfortunately, it doesn’t say which vaccine they will be getting.

Do they need to know? It will be one of the approved for 2 doses (not the most recent approved one)

I know we got an information sheet for the Pfizer one that asked if you were allergic to - I forgot the name of the component , but supposedly its in lotions and shampoos and such and in the PEG stuff that you get in the hospital to move your bowels. Someone else told me one of the other ones is not recommended for people with shellfish allergy. That’s not an uncommon allergy. How do you check with your doctor if you don’t know what you are getting?

Is the letter say "go to link so & so and register?". If so, the allergy could be part of the prompt when you go through to register. This would allow them to keep it current.

If the letter says "call so & so to register: , then again, you can ask the question on the phone.

I went to get blood drawn today. The staff at the lab are getting vaccinated tomorrow. They are quite excited.
